Transliteration 1: Aliflammeem
Yusuf Ali 1: A. L. M.
Mohsin Khan: 1: Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
Saheeh: 1: Alif, Lam, Meem.
Urdu 1: المۤ

غُلِبَتِ الرُّومُ
Transliteration 2: Ghulibati alrroomu
Yusuf Ali 2: The Roman Empire has been defeated-
Mohsin Khan: 2: The Romans have been defeated.
Saheeh: 2: The Byzantines have been defeated
Urdu 2: روم مغلوب ہو گئے


3  
فِي أَدْنَى الْأَرْضِ وَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ
Transliteration 3: Fee adna alardi wahum min baAAdi ghalabihim sayaghliboona
Yusuf Ali 3: In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious-
Mohsin Khan: 3: In the nearest land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.
Saheeh: 3: In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.
Urdu 3: نزدیک کے ملک میں اور وہ مغلوب ہونے کے بعد عنقریب غالب آجائیں گے

فِي بِضْعِ سِنِينَ ۗ لِلَّهِ الْأَمْرُ مِن قَبْلُ وَمِن بَعْدُ ۚ وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ
Transliteration 4: Fee bidAAi sineena lillahi alamru min qablu wamin baAAdu wayawmaithin yafrahu almuminoona
Yusuf Ali 4: Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice-
Mohsin Khan: 4: Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah, (before the defeat of the Romans by the Persians, and after the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians) -
Saheeh: 4: Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice
Urdu 4: چند ہی سال میں پہلے اور پچھلے سب کا م الله کے ہاتھ میں ہیں اور اس دن مسلمان خوش ہوں گے

بِنَصْرِ اللَّهِ ۚ يَنصُرُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Transliteration 5: Binasri Allahi yansuru man yashao wahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
Yusuf Ali 5: With the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful.
Mohsin Khan: 5: With the help of Allah. He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
Saheeh: 5: In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Urdu 5: الله کی مدد سے مدد کرتا ہے جس کی چاہتا ہے اور وہ غالب رحم والا ہے


6  
وَعْدَ اللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 6: WaAAda Allahi la yukhlifu Allahu waAAdahu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 6: (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not.
Mohsin Khan: 6: (It is) a Promise of Allah (i.e. Allah will give victory to the Romans against the Persians), and Allah fails not in His Promise, but most of men know not.
Saheeh: 6: [It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know.
Urdu 6: الله کا وعدہ ہو چکا الله اپنے وعدہ کا خلاف نہیں کرے گا لیکن اکثر آدمی نہیں جانتے


7  
يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرًا مِّنَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ الْآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ
Transliteration 7: YaAAlamoona thahiran mina alhayati alddunya wahum AAani alakhirati hum ghafiloona
Yusuf Ali 7: They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless.
Mohsin Khan: 7: They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world (i.e. the matters of their livelihood, like irrigating or sowing or reaping, etc.), and they are heedless of the Hereafter.
Saheeh: 7: They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.
Urdu 7: دنیا کی زندگی کی ظاہر باتیں جانتے ہیں اور وہ آخرت سے غافل ہی ہیں


8  
أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِم ۗ مَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ بِلِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ لَكَافِرُونَ
Transliteration 8: Awalam yatafakkaroo fee anfusihim ma khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi waajalin musamman wainna katheeran mina alnnasi biliqai rabbihim lakafiroona
Yusuf Ali 8: Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)!
Mohsin Khan: 8: Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allah created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allah has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord. [Tafsir At-Tabari].
Saheeh: 8: Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers.
Urdu 8: کیا وہ اپنے دل میں خیال نہیں کرتے کہ الله نے آسمانوں اور زمین کواور جو کچھ ان دونوں کے درمیان ہے عمدگی سے اور وقت مقرر تک کے لیے بنایا ہے اور بے شک بہت سے لوگ اپنے رب سے ملنے کے منکر ہیں

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَانُوا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَثَارُوا الْأَرْضَ وَعَمَرُوهَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا عَمَرُوهَا وَجَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Transliteration 9: Awalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharoo alarda waAAamarooha akthara mimma AAamarooha wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
Yusuf Ali 9: Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.
Mohsin Khan: 9: Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done: and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves.
Saheeh: 9: Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.
Urdu 9: کیا انہوں نے ملک میں پھر کر نہیں دیکھا کہ ان سے پہلوں کا کیسا انجام ہوا وہ ان سے بھی بڑھ کر قوت والے تھے اور انہوں نے زمین کو جوتا تھا اور ان سے بہت زیادہ آباد کیا تھا اور ان کے پاس ان کے رسول معجزات لے کر بھی آئے تھے پھر الله ایسا نہ تھا کہ ان پر ظلم کرتا بلکہ وہی اپنے نفسوں پر ظلم کرتے تھے


10  
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَاقِبَةَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا السُّوأَىٰ أَن كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَكَانُوا بِهَا يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
Transliteration 10: Thumma kana AAaqibata allatheena asaoo alssooa an kaththaboo biayati Allahi wakanoo biha yastahzioona
Yusuf Ali 10: In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule.
Mohsin Khan: 10: Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allah and made a mockery of them.
Saheeh: 10: Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them.
Urdu 10: پھر برا کرنے والوں کا انجام بھی برا ہی ہوا اس لیے کہ انہوں نے الله کی آیتوں کو جھٹلایا اور ان کی ہنسی اڑاتے رہے


11  
اللَّهُ يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
Transliteration 11: Allahu yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu thumma ilayhi turjaAAoona
Yusuf Ali 11: It is Allah Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; then shall ye be brought back to Him.
Mohsin Khan: 11: Allah (Alone) originates the creation, then He will repeat it, then to Him you will be returned.
Saheeh: 11: Allah begins creation; then He will repeat it; then to Him you will be returned.
Urdu 11: الله ہی مخلوق کو پہلی بار پیدا کرتا ہے پھر وہ اسے دوبارہ پیدا کرے گا پھر اس کے پاس لوٹ کر آؤ گے


12  
وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يُبْلِسُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ
Transliteration 12: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yublisu almujrimoona
Yusuf Ali 12: On the Day that the Hour will be established, the guilty will be struck dumb with despair.
Mohsin Khan: 12: And on the Day when the Hour will be established, the Mujrimun (disbelievers, sinners, criminals, polytheists) will be plunged into destruction with (deep regrets, sorrows, and) despair.
Saheeh: 12: And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will be in despair.
Urdu 12: اور جس دن قیامت قائم ہو گی گناہگار نا امید ہو جائیں گے


13  
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُم مِّن شُرَكَائِهِمْ شُفَعَاءُ وَكَانُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ كَافِرِينَ
Transliteration 13: Walam yakun lahum min shurakaihim shufaAAao wakanoo bishurakaihim kafireena
Yusuf Ali 13: No intercessor will they have among their "Partners" and they will (themselves) reject their "Partners".
Mohsin Khan: 13: No intercessors will they have from those whom they made equal with Allah (partners i.e. their so-called associate gods), and they will (themselves) reject and deny their partners.
Saheeh: 13: And there will not be for them among their [alleged] partners any intercessors, and they will [then] be disbelievers in their partners.
Urdu 13: اور ان کے معبودوں میں سے کوئی ان کی سفارش کرنے والا نہ ہوگا اور اپنے معبودوں سے منکر ہو جائیں گے


14  
وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَفَرَّقُونَ
Transliteration 14: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yawmaithin yatafarraqoona
Yusuf Ali 14: On the Day that the Hour will be established,- that Day shall (all men) be sorted out.
Mohsin Khan: 14: And on the Day when the Hour will be established - that Day shall (all men) be separated (i.e. the believers will be separated from the disbelievers).
Saheeh: 14: And the Day the Hour appears - that Day they will become separated.
Urdu 14: اور جس دن قیامت قائم ہوگی اس دن لوگ جدا جدا ہوجائیں گے


15  
فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَهُمْ فِي رَوْضَةٍ يُحْبَرُونَ
Transliteration 15: Faamma allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fahum fee rawdatin yuhbaroona
Yusuf Ali 15: Then those who have believed and worked righteous deeds, shall be made happy in a Mead of Delight.
Mohsin Khan: 15: Then as for those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and did righteous good deeds, such shall be honoured and made to enjoy luxurious life (forever) in a Garden of Delight (Paradise).
Saheeh: 15: And as for those who had believed and done righteous deeds, they will be in a garden [of Paradise], delighted.
Urdu 15: پھر جو ایما ن لائے اورنیک کام کیے سووہ بہشت میں خوش حال ہوں گے


16  
وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُونَ
Transliteration 16: Waamma allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina waliqai alakhirati faolaika fee alAAathabi muhdaroona
Yusuf Ali 16: And those who have rejected Faith and falsely denied our Signs and the meeting of the Hereafter,- such shall be brought forth to Punishment.
Mohsin Khan: 16: And as for those who disbelieved and belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Allah's Messengers, Resurrection, etc.), and the Meeting of the Hereafter, such shall be brought forth to the torment (in the Hell-fire).
Saheeh: 16: But as for those who disbelieved and denied Our verses and the meeting of the Hereafter, those will be brought into the punishment [to remain].
Urdu 16: اورجنہوں نے انکار کیا اور ہماری آیتوں اور آخرت کے آنے کو جھٹلایا وہ عذاب میں ڈالے جائیں گے


17  
فَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ
Transliteration 17: Fasubhana Allahi heena tumsoona waheena tusbihoona
Yusuf Ali 17: So (give) glory to Allah, when ye reach eventide and when ye rise in the morning;
Mohsin Khan: 17: So glorify Allah [above all that (evil) they associate with Him (O believers)] when you come up to the evening [i.e. offer the (Maghrib ) sunset and ('Isha') night prayers], and when you enter the morning [i.e. offer the (Fajr) morning prayer].
Saheeh: 17: So exalted is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning.
Urdu 17: پھر الله کی تسبیح کرو جب تم شام کرو اور جب تم صبح کرو


18  
وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَحِينَ تُظْهِرُونَ
Transliteration 18: Walahu alhamdu fee alssamawati waalardi waAAashiyyan waheena tuthhiroona
Yusuf Ali 18: Yea, to Him be praise, in the heavens and on earth; and in the late afternoon and when the day begins to decline.
Mohsin Khan: 18: And His are all the praises and thanks in the heavens and the earth; and (glorify Him) in the afternoon (i.e. offer 'Asr prayer) and when you come up to the time, when the day begins to decline (i.e. offer Zuhr prayer). (Ibn 'Abbas said: "These are the five compulsory congregational prayers mentioned in the Qur'an)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Saheeh: 18: And to Him is [due all] praise throughout the heavens and the earth. And [exalted is He] at night and when you are at noon.
Urdu 18: اور آسمانوں اور زمین میں اسی کی تعریف ہے اور پچھلے پہر بھی اور جب دوپہر ہو


19  
يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَيُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ وَكَذَ‌ٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ
Transliteration 19: Yukhriju alhayya mina almayyiti wayukhriju almayyita mina alhayyi wayuhyee alarda baAAda mawtiha wakathalika tukhrajoona
Yusuf Ali 19: It is He Who brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living, and Who gives life to the earth after it is dead: and thus shall ye be brought out (from the dead).
Mohsin Khan: 19: He brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living. And He revives the earth after its death. And thus shall you be brought out (resurrected).
Saheeh: 19: He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. And thus will you be brought out.
Urdu 19: زندہ کو مردہ سے اور مردہ کو زندہ سے نکالتا ہے اور زمین کو اس کے مرنے کے بعد زندہ کرتا ہے اور اسی طرح تم نکالے جاؤ گے


20  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَنتُم بَشَرٌ تَنتَشِرُونَ
Transliteration 20: Wamin ayatihi an khalaqakum min turabin thumma itha antum basharun tantashiroona
Yusuf Ali 20: Among His Signs in this, that He created you from dust; and then,- behold, ye are men scattered (far and wide)!
Mohsin Khan: 20: And among His Signs is this, that He created you (Adam) from dust, and then [Hawwa' (Eve) from Adam's rib, and then his offspring from the semen, and], - behold you are human beings scattered!
Saheeh: 20: And of His signs is that He created you from dust; then, suddenly you were human beings dispersing [throughout the earth].
Urdu 20: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ہے کہ تمہیں مٹی سے بنایا پھر تم انسان بن کر پھیل رہے ہو


21  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Transliteration 21: Wamin ayatihi an khalaqa lakum min anfusikum azwajan litaskunoo ilayha wajaAAala baynakum mawaddatan warahmatan inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona
Yusuf Ali 21: And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.
Mohsin Khan: 21: And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.
Saheeh: 21: And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
Urdu 21: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ تمہارے لیے تمہیں میں سے بیویاں پیدا کیں تاکہ ان کے پاس چین سے رہو اور تمہارے درمیان محبت اور مہربانی پیدا کر دی جو لوگ غور کرتے ہیں ان کے لیے اس میں نشانیاں ہیں


22  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ خَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافُ أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَأَلْوَانِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْعَالِمِينَ
Transliteration 22: Wamin ayatihi khalqu alssamawati waalardi waikhtilafu alsinatikum waalwanikum inna fee thalika laayatin lilAAalimeena
Yusuf Ali 22: And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know.
Mohsin Khan: 22: And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. Verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge.
Saheeh: 22: And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge.
Urdu 22: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے آسمانوں اور زمین کا پیدا کرنا اور تمہاری زبانوں اور رنگتوں کا مختلف ہونا ہے بے شک اس میں علم والوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں


23  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ مَنَامُكُم بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَاؤُكُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ
Transliteration 23: Wamin ayatihi manamukum biallayli waalnnahari waibtighaokum min fadlihi inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yasmaAAoona
Yusuf Ali 23: And among His Signs is the sleep that ye take by night and by day, and the quest that ye (make for livelihood) out of His Bounty: verily in that are signs for those who hearken.
Mohsin Khan: 23: And among His Signs is your sleep by night and by day, and your seeking of His Bounty. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who listen.
Saheeh: 23: And of His signs is your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen.
Urdu 23: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے تمہارا رات اور دن میں سونا اور اس کے فضل کا تلاش کرنا ہے بے شک اس میں سننے والوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں


24  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ يُرِيكُمُ الْبَرْقَ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَيُحْيِي بِهِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
Transliteration 24: Wamin ayatihi yureekumu albarqa khawfan watamaAAan wayunazzilu mina alssamai maan fayuhyee bihi alarda baAAda mawtiha inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yaAAqiloona
Yusuf Ali 24: And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise.
Mohsin Khan: 24: And among His Signs is that He shows you the lightning, for fear and for hope, and He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and therewith revives the earth after its death. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who understand.
Saheeh: 24: And of His signs is [that] He shows you the lightning [causing] fear and aspiration, and He sends down rain from the sky by which He brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that are signs for a people who use reason.
Urdu 24: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ ہے کہ تمہیں خوف اور امید دلانے کو بجلی دکھاتا ہے اور اوپر سے پانی برساتا ہے پھراس سے زمین خشک ہو جانے کے بعد زندہ کرتا ہے بے شک اس میں عقلمندوں کے لئےنشانیاں ہیں


25  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَن تَقُومَ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ بِأَمْرِهِ ۚ ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ إِذَا أَنتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ
Transliteration 25: Wamin ayatihi an taqooma alssamao waalardu biamrihi thumma itha daAAakum daAAwatan mina alardi itha antum takhrujoona
Yusuf Ali 25: And among His Signs is this, that heaven and earth stand by His Command: then when He calls you, by a single call, from the earth, behold, ye (straightway) come forth.
Mohsin Khan: 25: And among His Signs is that the heaven and the earth stand by His Command. Then afterwards when He will call you by a single call, behold, you will come out from the earth (i.e. from your graves for reckoning and recompense).
Saheeh: 25: And of His signs is that the heaven and earth remain by His command. Then when He calls you with a [single] call from the earth, immediately you will come forth.
Urdu 25: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ ہے کہ آسمان اور زمین ا س کے حکم سے قائم ہیں پھر جب تمہیں پکار کر زمین میں سے بلائے گا اسی وقت تم نکل آؤ گے


26  
وَلَهُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُ قَانِتُونَ
Transliteration 26: Walahu man fee alssamawati waalardi kullun lahu qanitoona
Yusuf Ali 26: To Him belongs every being that is in the heavens and on earth: all are devoutly obedient to Him.
Mohsin Khan: 26: To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are obedient to Him.
Saheeh: 26: And to Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and earth. All are to Him devoutly obedient.
Urdu 26: اور اسی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے سب اسکے حکم کے تابع ہیں


27  
وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ ۚ وَلَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْأَعْلَىٰ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Transliteration 27: Wahuwa allathee yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu wahuwa ahwanu AAalayhi walahu almathalu alaAAla fee alssamawati waalardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
Yusuf Ali 27: It is He Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; and for Him it is most easy. To Him belongs the loftiest similitude (we can think of) in the heavens and the earth: for He is Exalted in Might, full of wisdom.
Mohsin Khan: 27: And He it is Who originates the creation, then He will repeat it (after it has been perished); and this is easier for Him. His is the highest description (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He, and there is nothing comparable unto Him) in the heavens and in the earth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
Saheeh: 27: And it is He who begins creation; then He repeats it, and that is [even] easier for Him. To Him belongs the highest attribute in the heavens and earth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Urdu 27: اور وہی ہے جو پہلی بار بناتا ہے پھر اسے لوٹائے گا اور وہ اس پر آسان ہے اور آسمانوں اور زمین میں اس کی شان نہایت بلند ہے اور وہ غالب حکمت والا ہے


28  
ضَرَبَ لَكُم مَّثَلًا مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۖ هَل لَّكُم مِّن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُم مِّن شُرَكَاءَ فِي مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ فَأَنتُمْ فِيهِ سَوَاءٌ تَخَافُونَهُمْ كَخِيفَتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
Transliteration 28: Daraba lakum mathalan min anfusikum hal lakum mi mma malakat aymanukum min shurakaa fee ma razaqnakum faantum feehi sawaon takhafoonahum kakheefatikum anfusakum kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yaAAqiloona
Yusuf Ali 28: He does propound to you a similitude from your own (experience): do ye have partners among those whom your right hands possess, to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you? Do ye fear them as ye fear each other? Thus do we explain the Signs in detail to a people that understand.
Mohsin Khan: 28: He sets forth for you a parable from your ownselves: Do you have partners among those whom your right hands possess (i.e. your slaves) to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you whom you fear as you fear each other? Thus do We explain the signs in detail to a people who have sense.
Saheeh: 28: He presents to you an example from yourselves. Do you have among those whom your right hands possess any partners in what We have provided for you so that you are equal therein [and] would fear them as your fear of one another [within a partnership]? Thus do We detail the verses for a people who use reason.
Urdu 28: وہ تمہارے لیے تمہارے ہی حال کی ایک مثال بیان فرماتا ہے کیا جن کے تم مالک ہو وہ اس میں جو ہم نے تمہیں دیا ہے تمہارے شریک ہیں پھر اس میں تم برابر ہو تم ان سے اس طرح ڈرتے ہو جس طرح اپنوں سے ڈرتے ہو اس طرح ہم عقل والوں کے لیے آیتیں کھول کر بیان کرتے ہیں


29  
بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَهْوَاءَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۖ فَمَن يَهْدِي مَنْ أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ
Transliteration 29: Bali ittabaAAa allatheena thalamoo ahwaahum bighayri AAilmin faman yahdee man adalla Allahu wama lahum min nasireena
Yusuf Ali 29: Nay, the wrong-doers (merely) follow their own lusts, being devoid of knowledge. But who will guide those whom Allah leaves astray? To them there will be no helpers.
Mohsin Khan: 29: Nay, but those who do wrong follow their own lusts without knowledge. Then who will guide him whom Allah has sent astray? And for such there will be no helpers.
Saheeh: 29: But those who wrong follow their [own] desires without knowledge. Then who can guide one whom Allah has sent astray? And for them there are no helpers.
Urdu 29: بلکہ یہ بے انصاف بے سمجھے اپنی خوہشوں پر چلتے ہیں پھر کون ہدایت کر سکتا ہے جسے الله نے گمراہ کر دیا اور ان کا کوئی بھی مددگار نہیں


30  
فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا ۚ فِطْرَتَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا ۚ لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 30: Faaqim wajhaka lilddeeni haneefan fitrata Allahi allatee fatara alnnasa AAalayha la tabdeela likhalqi Allahi thalika alddeenu alqayyimu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 30: So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not.
Mohsin Khan: 30: So set you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) your face towards the religion (of pure Islamic Monotheism) Hanif (worship none but Allah Alone). Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism) with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah (i.e. the religion of Allah - Islamic Monotheism): that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Saheeh: 30: So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.
Urdu 30: سو تو ایک طرف کا ہو کر دین پرسیدھا منہ کیے چلا جا الله کی دی ہوئی قابلیت پر جس پر اس نے لوگوں کو پیدا کیا ہے الله کی بناوٹ میں ردو بدل نہیں یہی سیدھا دین ہے لیکن اکثر آدمی نہیں جانتے


31  
 ۞ مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
Transliteration 31: Muneebeena ilayhi waittaqoohu waaqeemoo alssalata wala takoonoo mina almushrikeena
Yusuf Ali 31: Turn ye back in repentance to Him, and fear Him: establish regular prayers, and be not ye among those who join gods with Allah,-
Mohsin Khan: 31: (And remain always) turning in repentance to Him (only), and be afraid and dutiful to Him; and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and be not of Al-Mushrikun (the polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah).
Saheeh: 31: [Adhere to it], turning in repentance to Him, and fear Him and establish prayer and do not be of those who associate others with Allah
Urdu 31: اسی کی طرف رجوع کیے رہو اور اس سے ڈرو اور نماز قائم کرو اور مشرکوں میں سے نہ ہوجاؤ


32  
مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ
Transliteration 32: Mina allatheena farraqoo deenahum wakanoo shiyaAAan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
Yusuf Ali 32: Those who split up their Religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!
Mohsin Khan: 32: Of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left the true Islamic Monotheism), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the religion (Bid'ah ), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it.
Saheeh: 32: [Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has.
Urdu 32: جنہوں نے اپنے دین کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا اور کئی فرقے ہو گئے سب فرقے اسی سے خوش ہیں جو ان کے پا س ہے


33  
وَإِذَا مَسَّ النَّاسَ ضُرٌّ دَعَوْا رَبَّهُم مُّنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَذَاقَهُم مِّنْهُ رَحْمَةً إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ
Transliteration 33: Waitha massa alnnasa durrun daAAaw rabbahum muneebeena ilayhi thumma itha athaqahum minhu rahmatan itha fareequn minhum birabbihim yushrikoona
Yusuf Ali 33: When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,-
Mohsin Khan: 33: And when harm touches men, they cry sincerely only to their Lord (Allah), turning to Him in repentance; but when He gives them a taste of His Mercy, behold, a party of them associates partners in worship with their Lord.
Saheeh: 33: And when adversity touches the people, they call upon their Lord, turning in repentance to Him. Then when He lets them taste mercy from Him, at once a party of them associate others with their Lord,
Urdu 33: اور ولوگوں کو جب کوئی دکھ پہنچتا ہے تو اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع ہو کر اسے پکارتے ہیں پھر جب وہ انہیں اپنی رحمت کا مزہ چکھاتا ہے توایک گروہ ان میں سے اپنے رب سے شرک کرنے لگتا ہے


34  
لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 34: Liyakfuroo bima ataynahum fatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 34: (As if) to show their ingratitude for the (favours) We have bestowed on them! Then enjoy (your brief day); but soon will ye know (your folly).
Mohsin Khan: 34: So as to be ungrateful for the graces which We have bestowed on them. Then enjoy (your short life); but you will come to know.
Saheeh: 34: So that they will deny what We have granted them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.
Urdu 34: تاکہ جو ہم نے انہیں دیا ہے اس کی ناشکری کریں سوفائدہ اٹھا لو عنقریب تمہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا


35  
أَمْ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانًا فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِمَا كَانُوا بِهِ يُشْرِكُونَ
Transliteration 35: Am anzalna AAalayhim sultanan fahuwa yatakallamu bima kanoo bihi yushrikoona
Yusuf Ali 35: Or have We sent down authority to them, which points out to them the things to which they pay part-worship?
Mohsin Khan: 35: Or have We revealed to them an authority (a Scripture), which speaks of that which they have been associating with Him?
Saheeh: 35: Or have We sent down to them an authority, and it speaks of what they were associating with Him?
Urdu 35: کیا ہم نے ان کے لیے کوئی سند بھیجی ہے کہ وہ انہیں شرک کرنا بتا رہی ہے


36  
وَإِذَا أَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً فَرِحُوا بِهَا ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَقْنَطُونَ
Transliteration 36: Waitha athaqna alnnasa rahmatan farihoo biha wain tusibhum sayyiatun bima qaddamat aydeehim itha hum yaqnatoona
Yusuf Ali 36: When We give men a taste of Mercy, they exult thereat: and when some evil afflicts them because of what their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair!
Mohsin Khan: 36: And when We cause mankind to taste of mercy, they rejoice therein; but when some evil afflicts them because of (evil deeds and sins) that their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair!
Saheeh: 36: And when We let the people taste mercy, they rejoice therein, but if evil afflicts them for what their hands have put forth, immediately they despair.
Urdu 36: اور جب ہم لوگوں کو رحمت کا مزہ چکھاتے ہیں تو اس پر خوش ہوجاتے ہیں اور اگر انہیں ان کے گذشتہ اعمال کے سبب سے دکھ پہنچتا ہے تو فوراً نا امید ہو جاتے ہیں


37  
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Transliteration 37: Awalam yaraw anna Allaha yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona
Yusuf Ali 37: See they not that Allah enlarges the provision and restricts it, to whomsoever He pleases? Verily in that are Signs for those who believe.
Mohsin Khan: 37: Do they not see that Allah enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens (it for whom He wills). Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who believe.
Saheeh: 37: Do they not see that Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed, in that are signs for a people who believe.
Urdu 37: کیا وہ نہیں دیکھتے کہ الله جس کے لیے چاہتا ہے رزق کشادہ کرتا ہے اور تنگ کرتا ہے بے شک اس میں ایمان لانے والوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں


38  
فَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ ۚ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
Transliteration 38: Faati tha alqurba haqqahu waalmiskeena waibna alssabeeli thalika khayrun lillatheena yureedoona wajha Allahi waolaika humu almuflihoona
Yusuf Ali 38: So give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the Countenance, of Allah, and it is they who will prosper.
Mohsin Khan: 38: So give to the kindred his due, and to Al-Miskin (the poor) and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah's Countenance; and it is they who will be successful.
Saheeh: 38: So give the relative his right, as well as the needy and the traveler. That is best for those who desire the countenance of Allah, and it is they who will be the successful.
Urdu 38: پھر رشتہ دار اور محتاج اور مسافر کو اس کا حق دے یہ بہتر ہے ان کے لیے جو الله کی رضا چاہتے ہیں اور وہی نجات پانے والے ہیں


39  
وَمَا آتَيْتُم مِّن رِّبًا لِّيَرْبُوَ فِي أَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ فَلَا يَرْبُو عِندَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا آتَيْتُم مِّن زَكَاةٍ تُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُضْعِفُونَ
Transliteration 39: Wama ataytum min riban liyarbuwa fee amwali alnnasi fala yarboo AAinda Allahi wama ataytum min zakatin tureedoona wajha Allahi faolaika humu almudAAifoona
Yusuf Ali 39: That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied.
Mohsin Khan: 39: And that which you give in gift (to others), in order that it may increase (your wealth by expecting to get a better one in return) from other people's property, has no increase with Allah; but that which you give in Zakat (sadaqa - charity etc.) seeking Allah's Countenance, then those, they shall have manifold increase.
Saheeh: 39: And whatever you give for interest to increase within the wealth of people will not increase with Allah. But what you give in zakah, desiring the countenance of Allah - those are the multipliers.
Urdu 39: اور جو سود پر تم دیتے ہو تاکہ لوگوں کے مال میں بڑھتا رہے سو الله کے ہاں وہ نہیں بڑھتا اور جو زکواة دیتے ہو جس سے الله کی رضا چاہتے ہو سو یہ وہ ہی لوگ ہیں جن کے دونے ہوئے


40  
اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَائِكُم مَّن يَفْعَلُ مِن ذَ‌ٰلِكُم مِّن شَيْءٍ ۚ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
Transliteration 40: Allahu allathee khalaqakum thumma razaqakum thumma yumeetukum thumma yuhyeekum hal min shurakaikum man yafAAalu min thalikum min shayin subhanahu wataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
Yusuf Ali 40: It is Allah Who has created you: further, He has provided for your sustenance; then He will cause you to die; and again He will give you life. Are there any of your (false) "Partners" who can do any single one of these things? Glory to Him! and high is He above the partners they attribute (to him)!
Mohsin Khan: 40: Allah is He Who created you, then provided food for you, then will cause you to die, then (again) He will give you life (on the Day of Resurrection). Is there any of your (so-called) partners (of Allah) that do anything of that? Glory be to Him! And Exalted be He above all that (evil) they associate (with Him).
Saheeh: 40: Allah is the one who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die, and then will give you life. Are there any of your "partners" who does anything of that? Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
Urdu 40: الله وہ ہے جس نے تمہیں پیدا کیا پھر تمہیں روزی دی پھر تمہیں مارے گا پھر تمہیں زندہ کرے گا کیا تمہارے معبودوں میں سے کبھی کوئی ایسا ہے جو ان کاموں میں سے کچھ بھی کر سکے وہ پاک ہے اور ان کے شریکوں سے بلند ہے


41  
ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Transliteration 41: Thahara alfasadu fee albarri waalbahri bima kasabat aydee alnnasi liyutheeqahum baAAda allathee AAamiloo laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
Yusuf Ali 41: Mischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil).
Mohsin Khan: 41: Evil (sins and disobedience to Allah) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and evil deeds), that He (Allah) may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah, and begging His Pardon).
Saheeh: 41: Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].
Urdu 41: خشکی اور تری میں لوگوں کے اعمال کے سبب سے فساد پھیل گیا ہے تاکہ الله انہیں ان کے بعض اعمال کا مزہ چکھائے تاکہ وہ باز آجائیں


42  
قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّشْرِكِينَ
Transliteration 42: Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablu kana aktharuhum mushrikeena
Yusuf Ali 42: Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah."
Mohsin Khan: 42: Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Travel in the land and see what was the end of those before (you)! Most of them were Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."
Saheeh: 42: Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of those before. Most of them were associators [of others with Allah].
Urdu 42: کہہ دو ملک میں چلو پھرو اور دیکھو جو لوگ پہلے گزرے ہیں ان کا کیسا انجام ہوا ان میں سے اکثر مشرک ہی تھے


43  
فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ الْقَيِّمِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۖ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعُونَ
Transliteration 43: Faaqim wajhaka lilddeeni alqayyimi min qabli an yatiya yawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi yawmaithin yassaddaAAoona
Yusuf Ali 43: But set thou thy face to the right Religion before there come from Allah the Day which there is no chance of averting: on that Day shall men be divided (in two).
Mohsin Khan: 43: So set you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) your face (in obedience to Allah, your Lord) to the straight and right religion (Islamic Monotheism), before there comes from Allah a Day which none can avert. On that Day men shall be divided [(in two groups), a group in Paradise and a group in Hell].
Saheeh: 43: So direct your face toward the correct religion before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. That Day, they will be divided.
Urdu 43: سو تو اپنا منہ سیدھی راہ پرسیدھا رکھ اس سے پہلے کہ وہ دن آ پہنچے جسے الله کی طرف سے پھرنا نہیں اس دن لوگ جدا جدا ہوں گے


44  
مَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُ ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِأَنفُسِهِمْ يَمْهَدُونَ
Transliteration 44: Man kafara faAAalayhi kufruhu waman AAamila salihan falianfusihim yamhadoona
Yusuf Ali 44: Those who reject Faith will suffer from that rejection: and those who work righteousness will spread their couch (of repose) for themselves (in heaven):
Mohsin Khan: 44: Whosoever disbelieves will suffer from his disbelief, and whosoever does righteous good deeds (by practising Islamic Monotheism), then such will prepare a good place (in Paradise) for themselves (and will be saved by Allah from His Torment).
Saheeh: 44: Whoever disbelieves - upon him is [the consequence of] his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness - they are for themselves preparing,
Urdu 44: جس نے کفر کیا سو اس کے کفر کا وبال اسی پر ہے اور جس نے اچھے کام کیے تو وہ اپنے لیے سامان کر رہے ہیں


45  
لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ مِن فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ
Transliteration 45: Liyajziya allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati min fadlihi innahu la yuhibbu alkafireena
Yusuf Ali 45: That He may reward those who believe and work righteous deeds, out of his Bounty. For He loves not those who reject Faith.
Mohsin Khan: 45: That He may reward those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous good deeds, out of His Bounty. Verily, He likes not the disbelievers.
Saheeh: 45: That He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not like the disbelievers.
Urdu 45: تاکہ جو ایمان لائے اور اچھےے کام کیے الله انہیں اپنے فضل سے بدلہ دے بے شک الله ناشکروں کو پسند نہیں کرتا


46  
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَن يُرْسِلَ الرِّيَاحَ مُبَشِّرَاتٍ وَلِيُذِيقَكُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِهِ وَلِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ بِأَمْرِهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Transliteration 46: Wamin ayatihi an yursila alrriyaha mubashshiratin waliyutheeqakum min rahmatihi walitajriya alfulku biamrihi walitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona
Yusuf Ali 46: Among His Signs is this, that He sends the Winds, as heralds of Glad Tidings, giving you a taste of His (Grace and) Mercy,- that the ships may sail (majestically) by His Command and that ye may seek of His Bounty: in order that ye may be grateful.
Mohsin Khan: 46: And among His Signs is this, that He sends the winds as glad tidings, giving you a taste of His Mercy (i.e. rain), and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, in order that you may be thankful.
Saheeh: 46: And of His signs is that He sends the winds as bringers of good tidings and to let you taste His mercy and so the ships may sail at His command and so you may seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.
Urdu 46: اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ایک یہ ہے کہ خوشخبری لانے والی ہوائیں چلاتا ہے اور تاکہ تمہیں اپنی مہربانی کا کچھ مزہ چکھا دیں اور تاکہ کشتیاں اس کے حکم سے چلیں اور تاکہ اس کے فضل سے تلاش کرو اور تاکہ تم شکر کرو


47  
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَاءُوهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا ۖ وَكَانَ حَقًّا عَلَيْنَا نَصْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Transliteration 47: Walaqad arsalna min qablika rusulan ila qawmihim fajaoohum bialbayyinati faintaqamna mina allatheena ajramoo wakana haqqan AAalayna nasru almumineena
Yusuf Ali 47: We did indeed send, before thee, messengers to their (respective) peoples, and they came to them with Clear Signs: then, to those who transgressed, We meted out Retribution: and it was due from Us to aid those who believed.
Mohsin Khan: 47: And indeed We did send Messengers before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) to their own peoples. They came to them with clear proofs, then, We took vengeance on those who committed crimes (disbelief, setting partners in worship with Allah, sins); and (as for) the believers, it was incumbent upon Us to help (them).
Saheeh: 47: And We have already sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear evidences; then We took retribution from those who committed crimes, and incumbent upon Us was support of the believers.
Urdu 47: اور ہم تم سے پہلے کتنے رسول اپنی اپنی قوم کے پاس بھیج چکے ہیں سو ان کے پاس نشانیاں لے کر آئے پھر ہم نے ان سے بدلہ لیا جو گناہگار تھے اور مومنوں کی مدد ہم پر لازم تھی


48  
اللَّهُ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابًا فَيَبْسُطُهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ وَيَجْعَلُهُ كِسَفًا فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلَالِهِ ۖ فَإِذَا أَصَابَ بِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
Transliteration 48: Allahu allathee yursilu alrriyaha fatutheeru sahaban fayabsutuhu fee alssamai kayfa yashao wayajAAaluhu kisafan fatara alwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi faitha asaba bihi man yashao min AAibadihi itha hum yastabshiroona
Yusuf Ali 48: It is Allah Who sends the Winds, and they raise the Clouds: then does He spread them in the sky as He wills, and break them into fragments, until thou seest rain-drops issue from the midst thereof: then when He has made them reach such of his servants as He wills behold, they do rejoice!-
Mohsin Khan: 48: Allah is He Who sends the winds, so that they raise clouds, and spread them along the sky as He wills, and then break them into fragments, until you see rain drops come forth from their midst! Then when He has made them fall on whom of His slaves as He wills, lo, they rejoice!
Saheeh: 48: It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice
Urdu 48: الله وہ ہے جو ہوائیں چلاتا ہے پھر وہ بادل کو اٹھاتی ہیں پھر اسے آسمان میں جس طرح چاہے پھیلا دیتا ہےاور اسے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیتا ہے پھر تو مینہ کو دیکھے گا کہ اس کے اندر سے نکلتا ہے پھر جب اسے اپنے بندوں میں سے جسے چاہتا ہے پہنچاتا ہے تو وہ خوش ہو جاتے ہیں


49  
وَإِن كَانُوا مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن قَبْلِهِ لَمُبْلِسِينَ
Transliteration 49: Wain kanoo min qabli an yunazzala AAalayhim min qablihi lamubliseena
Yusuf Ali 49: Even though, before they received (the rain) - just before this - they were dumb with despair!
Mohsin Khan: 49: And verily before that (rain) - just before it was sent down upon them - they were in despair!
Saheeh: 49: Although they were, before it was sent down upon them - before that, in despair.
Urdu 49: اور اگرچہ ان پر برسنے سے پہلے وہ نا امید تھے


50  
فَانظُرْ إِلَىٰ آثَارِ رَحْمَتِ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ يُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Transliteration 50: Faonthur ila athari rahmati Allahi kayfa yuhyee alarda baAAda mawtiha inna thalika lamuhyee almawta wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Yusuf Ali 50: Then contemplate (O man!) the memorials of Allah's Mercy!- how He gives life to the earth after its death: verily the same will give life to the men who are dead: for He has power over all things.
Mohsin Khan: 50: Look then at the effects (results) of Allah's Mercy: how He revives the earth after its death. Verily, that (Allah) (Who revived the earth after its death) shall indeed raise the dead (on the Day of Resurrection), and He is Able to do all things.
Saheeh: 50: So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah - how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
Urdu 50: پھر تو الله کی رحمت کی نشانیوں کو دیکھ کہ زمین کو خشک ہونے کے بعد کس طرح سر سبز کرتا ہے بے شک وہی مردوں کو پھر زندہ کرنے والا ہے اوروہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے


51  
وَلَئِنْ أَرْسَلْنَا رِيحًا فَرَأَوْهُ مُصْفَرًّا لَّظَلُّوا مِن بَعْدِهِ يَكْفُرُونَ
Transliteration 51: Walain arsalna reehan faraawhu musfarran lathalloo min baAAdihi yakfuroona
Yusuf Ali 51: And if We (but) send a Wind from which they see (their tilth) turn yellow,- behold, they become, thereafter, Ungrateful (Unbelievers)!
Mohsin Khan: 51: And if We send a wind [which would spoil the green growth (tilth) brought up by the previous rain], and they see (their tilth) turn yellow - behold, they then (after their being glad,) would become unthankful (to their Lord Allah as) disbelievers. [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Saheeh: 51: But if We should send a [bad] wind and they saw [their crops] turned yellow, they would remain thereafter disbelievers.
Urdu 51: اور اگر ہم ایسی ہوا چلائیں کہ جس سے وہ کھیتی کو زرد دیکھیں تو اس کے بعدوہ ناشکری کرنے لگ جائیں


52  
فَإِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِينَ
Transliteration 52: Fainnaka la tusmiAAu almawta wala tusmiAAu alssumma aldduAAaa itha wallaw mudbireena
Yusuf Ali 52: So verily thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and turn away.
Mohsin Khan: 52: So verily, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and turn away.
Saheeh: 52: So indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs, retreating.
Urdu 52: بے شک تو مردوں کو نہیں سنا سکتا اور نہ بہروں کو آواز سنا سکتا ہے جب وہ پیٹھ پھیر کرپھر جائیں


53  
وَمَا أَنتَ بِهَادِ الْعُمْيِ عَن ضَلَالَتِهِمْ ۖ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
Transliteration 53: Wama anta bihadi alAAumyi AAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yuminu biayatina fahum muslimoona
Yusuf Ali 53: Nor canst thou lead back the blind from their straying: only those wilt thou make to hear, who believe in Our signs and submit (their wills in Islam).
Mohsin Khan: 53: And you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) cannot guide the blind from their straying; you can make to hear only those who believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and have submitted to Allah in Islam (as Muslims).
Saheeh: 53: And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [in submission to Allah].
Urdu 53: اور تم اندھوں کوان کے الٹے راستے سے سیدھے راستہ پر نہیں لا سکتے تم تو بس انہیں لوگوں کو سنا سکتے ہو جو ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان لاتے ہیں سو وہی ماننے والے ہیں


54  
 ۞ اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعْدِ ضَعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعْفًا وَشَيْبَةً ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْقَدِيرُ
Transliteration 54: Allahu allathee khalaqakum min daAAfin thumma jaAAala min baAAdi daAAfin quwwatan thumma jaAAala min baAAdi quwwatin daAAfan washaybatan yakhluqu ma yashao wahuwa alAAaleemu alqadeeru
Yusuf Ali 54: It is Allah Who created you in a state of (helpless) weakness, then gave (you) strength after weakness, then, after strength, gave (you weakness and a hoary head: He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power.
Mohsin Khan: 54: Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creates what He wills. And it is He Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful (i.e. Able to do all things).
Saheeh: 54: Allah is the one who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness and white hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Competent.
Urdu 54: الله ہی ہے جس نے تمہیں کمزوری کی حالت میں پیدا کیا پھر کمزوری کے بعد قوت عطا کی پھر قوت کے بعد ضعف اور بڑھاپا بنایا جو چاہتاہے پیدا کرتا ہے اوروہی جاننے والا قدرت والا ہے


55  
وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يُقْسِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ مَا لَبِثُوا غَيْرَ سَاعَةٍ ۚ كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ كَانُوا يُؤْفَكُونَ
Transliteration 55: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yuqsimu almujrimoona ma labithoo ghayra saAAatin kathalika kanoo yufakoona
Yusuf Ali 55: On the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded!
Mohsin Khan: 55: And on the Day that the Hour will be established, the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) will swear that they stayed not but an hour - thus were they ever deluded [away from the truth (i.e. they used to tell lies and take false oaths, and turn away from the truth) in this life of the world)]
Saheeh: 55: And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will swear they had remained but an hour. Thus they were deluded.
Urdu 55: اورجس دن قیامت قائم ہو گی گناہگار قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ ہم ایک گھڑی سے بھی زیادہ نہیں ٹھہرے تھے اسی طرح وہ الٹے جاتے تھے


56  
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَالْإِيمَانَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ ۖ فَهَـٰذَا يَوْمُ الْبَعْثِ وَلَـٰكِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 56: Waqala allatheena ootoo alAAilma waaleemana laqad labithtum fee kitabi Allahi ila yawmi albaAAthi fahatha yawmu albaAAthi walakinnakum kuntum la taAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 56: But those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah's Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!"
Mohsin Khan: 56: And those who have been bestowed with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed you have stayed according to the Decree of Allah, until the Day of Resurrection: so this is the Day of Resurrection, but you knew not."
Saheeh: 56: But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, "You remained the extent of Allah 's decree until the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not used to know."
Urdu 56: اور جن لوگو ں کو علم اور ایمان دیا گیا تھا کہیں گے کہ الله کی کتاب کے مطابق تم قیامت تک رہے ہو سو یہ قیامت کا ہی دن ہے لیکن تمہیں اس کا یقین ہی نہ تھا


57  
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يَنفَعُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ
Transliteration 57: Fayawmaithin la yanfaAAu allatheena thalamoo maAAthiratuhum wala hum yustaAAtaboona
Yusuf Ali 57: So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail the transgressors, nor will they be invited (then) to seek grace (by repentance).
Mohsin Khan: 57: So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail those who did wrong (by associating partners in worship with Allah, and by denying the Day of Resurrection), nor will they be allowed (then) to return to seek Allah's Pleasure (by having Islamic Faith with righteous deeds and by giving up polytheism, sins and crimes with repentance).
Saheeh: 57: So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [Allah].
Urdu 57: تو اس دن ظالموں کو ان کا عذر کچھ فائدہ نہ دے گا اور نہ ان سے توبہ قبول کی جائے گی


58  
وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ ۚ وَلَئِن جِئْتَهُم بِآيَةٍ لَّيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا مُبْطِلُونَ
Transliteration 58: Walaqad darabna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin walain jitahum biayatin layaqoolanna allatheena kafaroo in antum illa mubtiloona
Yusuf Ali 58: verily We have propounded for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable: But if thou bring to them any Sign, the Unbelievers are sure to say, "Ye do nothing but talk vanities."
Mohsin Khan: 58: And indeed We have set forth for mankind, in this Qur'an every kind of parable. But if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) bring to them any sign or proof (as an evidence for the truth of your Prophethood), the disbelievers are sure to say (to the believers): "You follow nothing but falsehood, and magic."
Saheeh: 58: And We have certainly presented to the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example. But, [O Muhammad], if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are but falsifiers."
Urdu 58: اور ہم نے لوگوں کے لیے اس قرآن میں ہر طرح کی مثال بیان کر دی ہے اور اگر تم ان کے سامنے کوئی نشانی پیش کرو تو کافر یہ کہہ دیں گے کہ تم تو جھوٹے ہو


59  
كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 59: Kathalika yatbaAAu Allahu AAala quloobi allatheena la yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 59: Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not.
Mohsin Khan: 59: Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who know not [the proofs and evidence of the Oneness of Allah i.e. those who try not to understand true facts that which you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) have brought to them].
Saheeh: 59: Thus does Allah seal the hearts of those who do not know.
Urdu 59: جو لوگ یقین نہیں کرتے الله ان کے دلوں پر یونہی مہر کر دیتا ہے


60  
فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ
Transliteration 60: Faisbir inna waAAda Allahi haqqun wala yastakhiffannaka allatheena la yooqinoona
Yusuf Ali 60: So patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith.
Mohsin Khan: 60: So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true; and let not those who have no certainty of faith, discourage you from conveying Allah's Message (which you are obliged to convey).
Saheeh: 60: So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
Urdu 60: سوتو صبر کر بے شک الله کاوعدہ سچا ہے اور جو لوگ یقین نہیں رکھتے وہ تجھے بےبرداشت نہ بنادیں
