| 4. | بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا فَأَعْرَضَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Basheeran wanatheeran faaAArada aktharuhum fahum la yasmaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. |
| Shakir: | A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. |
| Pickthall: | Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. |

| 5. | وَقَالُوا قُلُوبُنَا فِي أَكِنَّةٍ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَفِي آذَانِنَا وَقْرٌ وَمِن بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَاعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَامِلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqaloo quloobuna fee akinnatin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi wafee athanina waqrun wamin baynina wabaynika hijabun faiAAmal innana AAamiloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears in a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" |
| Shakir: | And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. |
| Pickthall: | And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us; and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen: so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." |

| 6. | قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَاسْتَقِيمُوا إِلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qul innama ana basharun mithlukum yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun faistaqeemoo ilayhi waistaghfiroohu wawaylun lilmushrikeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- |
| Shakir: | Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists; |
| Pickthall: | Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, |

And woe to Al-Mushrikun (the polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). |

| 7. | الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Allatheena la yutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum kafiroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. |
| Shakir: | (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. |
| Pickthall: | Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Those who give not the Zakat and they are disbelievers in the Hereafter. |

| 8. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ |
| Transliteration: | Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin |
| Yusuf Ali: | For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. |
| Shakir: | (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. |
| Pickthall: | Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Truly, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah, and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them will be an endless reward that will never stop (i.e. Paradise). |
| French: | Ceux qui croient et accomplissent de bonnes œuvres auront une énorme récompense jamais interrompue. |
| Spanish: | Quienes crean y obren bien, recibirán una recompensa ininterrumpida». |

| 9. | ۞ قُلْ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُ أَندَادًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qul ainnakum latakfuroona biallathee khalaqa alarda fee yawmayni watajAAaloona lahu andadan thalika rabbu alAAalameena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds. |
| Shakir: | Say: What! do you indeed disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two periods, and do you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of the Worlds. |
| Pickthall: | Say (O Muhammad, unto the idolaters): Disbelieve ye verily in Him Who created the earth in two Days, and ascribe ye unto Him rivals? He (and none else) is the Lord of the Worlds. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Do you verily disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days? And you set up rivals (in worship) with Him? That is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). |
| French: | Dis: «Renierez-vous [l'existence] de celui qui a créé la terre en deux jours et Lui donnerez-vous des égaux? Tel est le Seigneur de l'univers, |
| Spanish: | Di: «¿No vais a creer en Quien ha creado la tierra en dos días y Le atribuís iguales? ¡Tal es el Señor del universo!» |
| Indonesian: | Katakanlah: "Sesungguhnya patutkah kamu kafir kepada Yang menciptakan bumi dalam dua hari dan kamu adakan sekutu-sekutu bagi-Nya? (Yang bersifat) demikian itulah Tuhan semesta alam".

| Malay:: | Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Sesungguhnya tidak patut kamu kufur kepada Tuhan yang menciptakan bumi dalam dua masa dan kamu adakan sekutu-sekutu bagiNya! Yang demikian (sifatNya dan kekuasaanNya) ialah Allah Tuhan sekalian alam,

| German: | Sag: Wollt ihr denn wirklich denjenigen verleugnen, Der die Erde in zwei Tagen erschaffen hat, und Ihm andere als Seinesgleichen zur Seite stellen? Das ist der Herr der Weltenbewohner. |

| 10. | وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ مِن فَوْقِهَا وَبَارَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَا أَقْوَاتَهَا فِي أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍ سَوَاءً لِّلسَّائِلِينَ |
| Transliteration: | WajaAAala feeha rawasiya min fawqiha wabaraka feeha waqaddara feeha aqwataha fee arbaAAati ayyamin sawaan lilssaileena |
| Yusuf Ali: | He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (Sustenance). |
| Shakir: | And He made in it mountains above its surface, and He blessed therein and made therein its foods, in four periods: alike for the seekers. |
| Pickthall: | He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask; |
| Mohsin Khan: | He placed therein (i.e. the earth) firm mountains from above it, and He blessed it, and measured therein its sustenance (for its dwellers) in four Days equal (i.e. all these four days were equal in the length of time) for all those who ask (about its creation). |
| French: | c'est Lui qui a fermement fixé des montagnes au-dessus d'elle, l'a bénie et lui assigna ses ressources alimentaires en quatre jours d'égale durée. [Telle est la réponse] à ceux qui t'interrogent. |

| Indonesian: | Dan Dia menciptakan di bumi itu gunung-gunung yang kokoh di atasnya. Dia memberkahinya dan Dia menentukan padanya kadar makanan-makanan (penghuni)nya dalam empat hari. (Penjelasan itu sebagai jawaban) bagi orang-orang yang bertanya.

| Malay:: | Dan Dia menjadikan di bumi gunung-ganang yang menetapnya (tersergam tinggi) di atasnya, serta Dia melimpahkan berkat padanya dan Dia menentukan ada padaNya bahan-bahan keperluan hidup penduduknya, sekadar yang menyamai hajat yang diminta dan dikehendaki oleh keadaan mereka; (semuanya itu berlaku) dalam empat masa.

| German: | Er hat in ihr festgegründete Berge gemacht, (die) über ihr (aufragen), und hat sie gesegnet und in ihr die Nahrung im rechten Maß in vier Tagen festgelegt, gleichmäßig für diejenigen, die danach fragen. |

| 11. | ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَهِيَ دُخَانٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ائْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا قَالَتَا أَتَيْنَا طَائِعِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Thumma istawa ila alssamai wahiya dukhanun faqala laha walilardi itiya tawAAan aw karhan qalata atayna taiAAeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing obedience." |
| Shakir: | Then He directed Himself to the heaven and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: Come both, willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly. |
| Pickthall: | Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then He rose over (Istawa) towards the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: "Come both of you willingly or unwillingly." They both said: "We come willingly." |
| French: | Il S'est ensuite adressé au ciel qui était alors fumée et lui dit, ainsi qu'à la terre: «Venez tous deux, bon gré, mal gré». Tous deux dirent: «Nous venons obéissants». |
| Spanish: | Luego, se dirigió al cielo, que era humo, y dijo a éste y a la tierra: «¡Venid, queráis o no!» Dijeron: «¡Venimos de buen grado!» |
| Indonesian: | Kemudian Dia menuju langit dan langit itu masih merupakan asap, lalu Dia berkata kepadanya dan kepada bumi: "Datanglah kamu keduanya menurut perintah-Ku dengan suka hati atau terpaksa". Keduanya menjawab: "Kami datang dengan suka hati".

| Malay:: | Kemudian Dia menunjukkan kehendakNya ke arah (bahan-bahan) langit sedang langit itu masih berupa asap; lalu Dia berfirman kepadanya dan kepada bumi: Turutlah kamu berdua akan perintahKu, samada dengan sukarela atau dengan paksa! Keduanya menjawab: Kami berdua sedia menurut patuh dengan sukarela;

| German: | Hierauf wandte Er sich dem Himmel zu, während er noch aus Rauch bestand, und sagte dann zu ihm und zur Erde: "Kommt beide her, freiwillig oder widerwillig." Sie sagten: "Wir kommen in Gehorsam." |
|
| 12. | فَقَضَاهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَأَوْحَىٰ فِي كُلِّ سَمَاءٍ أَمْرَهَا ۚ وَزَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَابِيحَ وَحِفْظًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ |
| Transliteration: | Faqadahunna sabAAa samawatin fee yawmayni waawha fee kulli samain amraha wazayyanna alssamaa alddunya bimasabeeha wahifthan thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi |
| Yusuf Ali: | So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge. |
| Shakir: | So He ordained them seven heavens in two periods, and revealed in every heaven its affair; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars and (made it) to guard; that is the decree of the Mighty, the Knowing. |
| Pickthall: | Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then He completed and finished from their creation (as) seven heavens in two Days and He made in each heaven its affair. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower. |
| French: | Il décréta d'en faire sept cieux en deux jours et révéla à chaque ciel sa fonction. Et Nous avons décoré le ciel le plus proche de lampes [étoiles] et l'avons protégé. Tel est l'Ordre établi par le Puissant, l'Omniscient. |
| Spanish: | «Decretó que fueran siete cielos, en dos días, e inspiró a cada cielo su cometido. Hemos engalanado el cielo más bajo con luminares, como protección. Tal es la decisión del Poderoso, del Omnisciente». |
| Indonesian: | Maka Dia menjadikannya tujuh langit dalam dua hari dan Dia mewahyukan pada tiap-tiap langit urusannya. Dan Kami hiasi langit yang dekat dengan bintang-bintang yang cemerlang dan Kami memeliharanya dengan sebaik-baiknya. Demikianlah ketentuan Yang Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Mengetahui.

| Malay:: | Lalu Dia menjadikannya tujuh langit, dalam dua masa dan Dia memberitahu kepada tiap-tiap langit akan urusan dan keperluannya masing-masing dan Kami hiasi langit yang dekat (pada pandangan mata penduduk bumi) dengan bintang-bintang yang bersinar cemerlang serta memelihara langit itu dengan sebaik-baiknya. Demikianlah ketentuan Allah Yang Maha Kuasa, lagi Maha Mengetahui.

| German: | So führte Er sie als sieben Himmel in zwei Tagen aus und gab jedem Himmel seine Aufgabe ein. Und Wir haben den untersten Himmel mit Lampen geschmückt, und auch als Schutz. Das ist die Anordnung des Allmächtigen und Allwissenden. |

| 13. | فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَقُلْ أَنذَرْتُكُمْ صَاعِقَةً مِّثْلَ صَاعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ |
| Transliteration: | Fain aAAradoo fuqul anthartukum saAAiqatan mithla saAAiqati AAadin wathamooda |
| Yusuf Ali: | But if they turn away, say thou: "I have warned you of a stunning Punishment (as of thunder and lightning) like that which (overtook) the 'Ad and the Thamud!" |
| Shakir: | But if they turn aside, then say: I have warned you of a scourge like the scourge of Ad and Samood. |
| Pickthall: | But if they turn away, then say: I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt (which fell of old upon the tribes) of A'ad and Thamud; |
| Mohsin Khan: | But if they turn away, then say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I have warned you of a Sa'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) like the Sa'iqah which overtook 'Ad and Thamud (people)." |
| French: | S'ils s'en détournent, alors dis-leur; «Je vous ai avertis d'une foudre semblable à celle qui frappa les 'Aad et les Tamûd». |
| Spanish: | Si se desvían, di: «Os prevengo contra un rayo como el de los aditas y los tamudeos». |
| Indonesian: | Jika mereka berpaling maka katakanlah: "Aku telah memperingatkan kamu dengan petir, seperti petir yang menimpa kaum 'Aad dan kaum Tsamud".

| Malay:: | Oleh itu, kalau mereka (yang musyrik) berpaling (daripada mengesakan Allah dan menurut jalan yang lurus), maka katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Aku memberi amaran kepada kamu dengan (azab yang dahsyat, iaitu) petir, seperti petir yang telah menyambar kaum Aad dan kaum Thamud!

| German: | Wenn sie sich also abwenden, dann sag: Ich warne euch vor einem Donnerschlag gleich dem Donnerschlag der 'Ad und der Tamud, |

| 14. | إِذْ جَاءَتْهُمُ الرُّسُلُ مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۖ قَالُوا لَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً فَإِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Ith jaathumu alrrusulu min bayni aydeehim wamin khalfihim alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha qaloo law shaa rabbuna laanzala malaikatan fainna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Behold, the messengers came to them, from before them and behind them, (preaching): "Serve none but Allah." They said, "If our Lord had so pleased, He would certainly have sent down angels (to preach). Now we reject your mission (altogether)." |
| Shakir: | When their apostles came to them from before them and from behind them, saying, Serve nothing but Allah, they said: If our Lord had pleased He would certainly have sent down angels, so we are surely unbelievers in that with which you are sent. |
| Pickthall: | When their messengers came unto them from before them and behind them, saying: Worship none but Allah! they said: If our Lord had willed, He surely would have sent down angels (unto us), so lo! we are disbelievers in that wherewith ye have been sent. |
| Mohsin Khan: | When the Messengers came to them, from before them and behind them (saying): "Worship none but Allah", they said: "If our Lord had so willed, He would surely have sent down the angels. So indeed we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent." |
| French: | Quand les Messagers leur étaient venus, de devant eux et par derrière, [leur disant]: «N'adorez qu'Allah», ils dirent: «Si notre Seigneur avait voulu, Il aurait certainement fait descendre des Anges. Nous ne croyons donc pas [au message] avec lequel vous avez été envoyés». |
| Spanish: | Cuando vinieron a ellos los enviados antes y después. «¡No sirváis sino a Alá!» Dijeron: «Si nuestro Señor hubiera querido, habría enviado de lo alto a ángeles. No creemos en vuestro mensaje». |
| Indonesian: | Ketika rasul-rasul datang kepada mereka dari depan dan dari belakang mereka (dengan menyerukan): "Janganlah kamu menyembah selain Allah". Mereka menjawab: "Kalau Tuhan kami menghendaki tentu Dia akan menurunkan malaikat-malaikat-Nya, maka sesungguhnya kami kafir kepada wahyu yang kamu diutus membawanya.

| Malay:: | (Mereka ditimpa azab itu) kerana semasa mereka didatangi Rasul-rasul (memberikan berbagai penjelasan) mengenai keadaan hidup mereka di dunia dan di akhirat (sambil melarang mereka): Janganlah kamu menyembah melainkan Allah, mereka menjawab: Jika Tuhan kami hendak (mengutus Rasul-rasul) tentulah Dia akan menurunkan malaikat; oleh itu sesungguhnya kami kufur ingkar akan apa yang (kamu katakan): Kamu diutus membawanya!

| German: | als die Gesandten von vorn und von hinten zu ihnen kamen: "Dient nur Allah (allein)". Sie sagten: "Wenn unser Herr gewollt hätte, hätte Er Engel herabgesandt. So verleugnen wir das, womit ihr gesandt worden seid." |

| 15. | فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً ۖ أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً ۖ وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Faamma AAadun faistakbaroo fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo man ashaddu minna quwwatan awalam yaraw anna Allaha allathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoo biayatina yajhadoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs! |
| Shakir: | Then as to Ad, they were unjustly proud in the land, and they said: Who is mightier in strength than we? Did they not see that Allah Who created them was mightier than they in strength, and they denied Our communications? |
| Pickthall: | As for A'ad, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: Who is mightier than us in power? Could they not see that Allah Who created them, He was mightier than them in power? And they denied Our revelations. |
| Mohsin Khan: | As for 'Ad, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: "Who is mightier than us in strength?" See they not that Allah, Who created them was mightier in strength than them. And they used to deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.)! |
| French: | Quant aux 'Aad, ils s'enflèrent d'orgueil sur terre injustement et dirent: «Qui est plus fort que nous?» Quoi! N'ont-ils pas vu qu'en vérité Allah qui les a créés est plus fort qu'eux? Et ils reniaient Nos signes. |
| Spanish: | En cuanto a los aditas, sin razón, se condujeron en el país altivamente y dijeron: «¿Hay alguien más fuerte que nosotros?» ¿No veían que Alá, Que les había creado, era más fuerte que ellos? Pero negaron Nuestros signos. |
| Indonesian: | Adapun kaum Aad maka mereka menyombongkan diri di muka bumi tanpa alasan yang benar dan berkata: "Siapakah yang lebih besar kekuatannya dari kami?" Dan apakah mereka itu tidak memperhatikan bahwa Allah yang menciptakan mereka adalah lebih besar kekuatan-Nya dari mereka? Dan adalah mereka mengingkari tanda-tanda (kekuatan) Kami.

| Malay:: | Adapun kaum Aad, maka mereka berlaku sombong takbur di muka bumi dengan tiada sebarang alasan yang benar, serta berkata: Siapakah yang lebih kuat dari kami? Dan (mengapa mereka bersikap demikian?) Tidakkah mereka memerhatikan bahawa Allah yang menciptakan mereka (dari tiada kepada ada) adalah lebih besar kekuatanNya dari mereka? Dan sememangnya mereka sengaja mengingkari tanda-tanda kekuatan Kami (sedang mereka sedia mengetahuinya).

| German: | Was nun die 'Ad angeht, so verhielten sie sich hochmütig auf der Erde ohne Recht und sagten: "Wer hat eine stärkere Kraft als wir?" Sahen sie denn nicht, daß Allah, Der sie erschaffen hatte, eine stärkere Kraft hat als sie? Aber sie pflegten Unsere Zeichen zu verleugnen. |

| 16. | فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي أَيَّامٍ نَّحِسَاتٍ لِّنُذِيقَهُمْ عَذَابَ الْخِزْيِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ ۖ وَهُمْ لَا يُنصَرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Faarsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee ayyamin nahisatin linutheeqahum AAathaba alkhizyi fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati akhza wahum la yunsaroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | So We sent against them a furious Wind through days of disaster, that We might give them a taste of a Penalty of humiliation in this life; but the Penalty of a Hereafter will be more humiliating still: and they will find no help. |
| Shakir: | So We sent on them a furious wind in unlucky days, that We may make them taste the chastisement of abasement in this world's life; and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is much more abasing, and they shall not be helped. |
| Pickthall: | Therefor We let loose on them a raging wind in evil days, that We might make them taste the torment of disgrace in the life of the world. And verily the doom of the Hereafter will be more shameful, and they will not be helped. |
| Mohsin Khan: | So We sent upon them a furious wind in days of evil omen (for them) that We might give them a taste of disgracing torment in this present worldly life. But surely the torment of the Hereafter will be more disgracing, and they will never be helped. |
| French: | Nous déchaînâmes contre eux un vent violent et glacial en des jours néfastes, afin de leur faire goûter le châtiment de l'ignominie dans la vie présente. Le châtiment de l'au-delà cependant est plus ignominieux encore, et ils ne seront pas secourus. |
| Spanish: | Enviamos contra ellos un viento, glacial en días nefastos, para hacerles gustar el castigo de la ignominia en la vida de acá. Pero el castigo de la otra vida es aún más ignominioso y no serán auxiliados. |
| Indonesian: | Maka Kami meniupkan angin yang amat gemuruh kepada mereka dalam beberapa hari yang sial, karena Kami hendak merasakan kepada mereka itu siksaan yang menghinakan dalam kehidupan dunia. Dan sesungguhnya siksaan akhirat lebih menghinakan sedang mereka tidak diberi pertolongan.

| Malay:: | Lalu Kami hantarkan kepada mereka angin ribut yang kencang dalam beberapa hari yang nahas malang, kerana Kami hendak merasakan mereka azab seksa yang menghina dalam kehidupan dunia dan sesungguhnya azab seksa hari akhirat lebih besar kehinaannya; sedang mereka tidak diberikan pertolongan (menghindarkan azab itu).

| German: | Da sandten Wir gegen sie einen eiskalten Wind an unheilvollen Tagen, um sie die schändliche Strafe im diesseitigen Leben kosten zu lassen. Aber die Strafe des Jenseits ist wahrlich schändlicher, und es wird ihnen keine Hilfe zuteil werden. |

| 17. | وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَىٰ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَاعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waamma thamoodu fahadaynahum faistahabboo alAAama AAala alhuda faakhathathum saAAiqatu alAAathabi alhooni bima kanoo yaksiboona |
| Yusuf Ali: | As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned. |
| Shakir: | And as to Samood, We showed them the right way, but they chose error above guidance, so there overtook them the scourge of an abasing chastisement for what they earned. |
| Pickthall: | And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to the guidance, so the bolt of the doom of humiliation overtook them because of what they used to earn. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And as for Thamud, We showed and made clear to them the Path of Truth (Islamic Monotheism) through Our Messenger, (i.e. showed them the way of success), but they preferred blindness to guidance; so the Sa'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) of disgracing torment seized them because of what they used to earn. |
| French: | Et quant aux Tamûd, Nous les guidâmes; mais ils ont préféré l'aveuglement à la guidée. C'est alors qu'ils furent saisis par la foudre du supplice le plus humiliant pour ce qu'ils avaient acquis. |
| Spanish: | Y en cuanto a los tamudeos, les dirigimos, pero prefirieron la ceguera a la Dirección, y el Rayo del castigo degradante les sorprendió por lo que habían cometido. |
| Indonesian: | Dan adapun kaum Tsamud maka mereka telah Kami beri petunjuk tetapi mereka lebih menyukai buta (kesesatan) dari petunjuk itu, maka mereka disambar petir azab yang menghinakan disebabkan apa yang telah mereka kerjakan.

| Malay:: | Adapun kaum Thamud, maka Kami beri petunjuk kepadanya, lalu mereka mengutamakan kesesatan dari hidayat petunjuk lantas mereka disambar oleh petir azab yang menghina dengan sebab apa yang mereka telah lakukan.

| German: | Was aber die Tamud angeht, so wollten Wir sie rechtleiten, sie aber liebten die Blindheit mehr als die Rechtleitung. Da ergriff sie der Donnerschlag der schmählichen Strafe für das, was sie erworben hatten. |
|
| 18. | وَنَجَّيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wanajjayna allatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | But We delivered those who believed and practised righteousness. |
| Shakir: | And We delivered those who believed and guarded (against evil). |
| Pickthall: | And We delivered those who believed and used to keep their duty to Allah. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah, keep their duty to Him and avoid evil. |
| French: | Et Nous sauvâmes ceux qui croyaient et craignaient Allah. |
| Spanish: | Y salvamos a los que creían y temían a Alá. |
| Indonesian: | Dan Kami selamatkan orang-orang yang beriman dan mereka adalah orang-orang yang bertakwa.

| Malay:: | Dan Kami selamatkan orang-orang yang beriman serta mereka tetap bertakwa.
|
| German: | Und Wir erretteten diejenigen, die glaubten und gottesfürchtig waren. |
|
| 19. | وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَاءُ اللَّهِ إِلَى النَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wayawma yuhsharu aAAdao Allahi ila alnnari fahum yoozaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | On the Day that the enemies of Allah will be gathered together to the Fire, they will be marched in ranks. |
| Shakir: | And on the day that the enemies of Allah shall be brought together to the fire, then they shall be formed into groups. |
| Pickthall: | And (make mention of) the day when the enemies of Allah are gathered unto the Fire, they are driven on |
| Mohsin Khan: | And (remember) the Day that the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire, then they will be driven [(to the Fire), former ones being withheld till their later ones will join them]. |
| French: | Et le jour où les ennemis d'Allah seront rassemblés en masse vers le Feu... Puis on les poussera [dans sa direction]. |
| Spanish: | El día que los enemigos de Alá sean congregados hacia el Fuego, serán divididos en grupos. |
| Indonesian: | Dan (ingatlah) hari (ketika) musuh-musuh Allah digiring ke dalam neraka lalu mereka dikumpulkan (semuanya).
|
| Malay:: | Dan (ingatlah) hari dihimpun musuh-musuh Allah untuk dibawa ke Neraka, lalu mereka dijaga serta diatur keadaan dan perjalanannya masing-masing.
|
| German: | Und (denke an) den Tag, da Allahs Feinde zum (Höllen)feuer versammelt und in Reihen gebracht werden. |
|
| 20. | حَتَّىٰ إِذَا مَا جَاءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَارُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Hatta itha ma jaooha shahida AAalayhim samAAuhum waabsaruhum wajulooduhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | At length, when they reach the (Fire), their hearing, their sight, and their skins will bear witness against them, as to (all) their deeds. |
| Shakir: | Until when they come to it, their ears and their eyes and their skins shall bear witness against them as to what they did. |
| Pickthall: | Till, when they reach it, their ears and their eyes and their skins testify against them as to what they used to do. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Till, when they reach it (Hell-fire), their hearing (ears) and their eyes, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do. |
| French: | Alors, quand ils y seront, leur ouïe, leurs yeux et leurs peaux témoigneront contre eux de ce qu'ils œuvraient. |
| Spanish: | Hasta que, llegados a él, sus oídos, sus ojos y su piel atestiguarán contra ellos de sus obras. |
| Indonesian: | Sehingga apabila mereka sampai ke neraka, pendengaran, penglihatan dan kulit mereka menjadi saksi terhadap mereka tentang apa yang telah mereka kerjakan.

| Malay:: | Sehingga apabila mereka sampai ke Neraka, (maka) pendengaran dan penglihatan serta kulit-kulit badan mereka menjadi saksi terhadap mereka, mengenai apa yang mereka telah kerjakan.

| German: | Wenn sie dann dort angekommen sind, legen ihr Gehör, ihre Augen und ihre Häute gegen sie Zeugnis ab über das, was sie zu tun pflegten. |

| 21. | وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ قَالُوا أَنطَقَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqaloo lijuloodihim lima shahidtum AAalayna qaloo antaqana Allahu allathee antaqa kulla shayin wahuwa khalaqakum awwala marratin wailayhi turjaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | They will say to their skins: "Why bear ye witness against us?" They will say: "Allah hath given us speech,- (He) Who giveth speech to everything: He created you for the first time, and unto Him were ye to return. |
| Shakir: | And they shall say to their skins: Why have you borne witness against us? They shall say: Allah Who makes everything speak has made us speak, and He created you at first, and to Him you shall be brought back. |
| Pickthall: | And they say unto their skins: Why testify ye against us? They say: Allah hath given us speech Who giveth speech to all things, and Who created you at the first, and unto Whom ye are returned. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And they will say to their skins, "Why do you testify against us?" They will say: "Allah has caused us to speak as He causes all things to speak: and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return." |
| French: | Ils diront à leurs peaux: «Pourquoi avez-vous témoigné contre nous?» Elles diront: «C'est Allah qui nous a fait parler, Lui qui fait parler toute chose. C'est Lui qui vous a créés une première fois et c'est vers Lui que vous serez retournés». |
| Spanish: | Dirán a su piel: «¿Por qué has atestiguado contra nosotros?» Y ella dirá: «Alá, Que ha concedido a todos la facultad de hablar, nos la ha concedido a nosotros. Os ha creado una vez primera y a Él seréis devueltos. |
| Indonesian: | Dan mereka berkata kepada kulit mereka: "Mengapa kamu menjadi saksi terhadap kami?" Kulit mereka menjawab: "Allah yang menjadikan segala sesuatu pandai berkata telah menjadikan kami pandai (pula) berkata, dan Dia-lah yang menciptakan kamu pada kali yang pertama dan hanya kepada-Nyalah kamu dikembalikan.

| Malay:: | Dan (setelah berlaku yang demikian), berkatalah mereka kepada kulit-kulit badan mereka: Mengapa kamu menjadi saksi terhadap kami? Kulit-kulit badan mereka menjawab: Allah yang berkuasa menjadikan tiap-tiap sesuatu pandai berkata-kata - telah menjadikan kami dapat berkata-kata dan Dialah yang menciptakan kamu pada mulanya dan kepadaNyalah kamu dikembalikan (untuk menerima balasan).

| German: | Sie werden zu ihren Häuten sagen: "Warum habt ihr gegen uns Zeugnis abgelegt?" Sie sagen: "Allah, Der alles reden läßt, hat uns reden lassen. Er ist es, Der euch das erste Mal erschaffen hat, und zu Ihm werdet ihr zurückgebracht. |

| 22. | وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَارُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن ظَنَنتُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wama kuntum tastatiroona an yashhada AAalaykum samAAukum wala absarukum wala juloodukum walakin thanantum anna Allaha la yaAAlamu katheeran mimma taAAmaloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "Ye did not seek to hide yourselves, lest your hearing, your sight, and your skins should bear witness against you! But ye did think that Allah knew not many of the things that ye used to do! |
| Shakir: | And you did not veil yourselves lest your ears and your eyes and your skins should bear witness against you, but you thought that Allah did not know most of what you did. |
| Pickthall: | Ye did not hide yourselves lest your ears and your eyes and your skins should testify against you, but ye deemed that Allah knew not much of what ye did. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And you have not been hiding yourselves (in the world), lest your ears, and your eyes, and your skins should testify against you; but you thought that Allah knew not much of what you were doing. |
| French: | Vous ne pouviez vous cacher au point que ni votre ouïe, ni vos yeux et ni vos peaux ne puissent témoigner contre vous. Mais vous pensiez qu'Allah ne savait pas beaucoup de ce que vous faisiez. |
| Spanish: | No podíais esconderos tan bien que no pudieran luego atestiguar contra vosotros vuestros oídos, vuestros ojos y vuestra piel. Creíais que Alá no sabía mucho de lo que hacíais. |
| Indonesian: | Kamu sekali-kali tidak dapat bersembunyi dari persaksian pendengaran, penglihatan dan kulitmu terhadapmu bahkan kamu mengira bahwa Allah tidak mengetahui kebanyakan dari apa yang kamu kerjakan.
|
| Malay:: | Dan semasa kamu berselindung (ketika melakukan dosa di dunia dahulu) bukanlah kerana kamu bimbangkan pendengaran dan penglihatan serta kulit-kulit badan kamu menjadi saksi terhadap perbuatan-perbuatan kamu yang berdosa itu, akan tetapi kerana kamu menyangka bahawa Allah tidak mengetahui kebanyakan dosa yang kamu lakukan (secara bersembunyi itu).

| German: | Und ihr pflegtet euch nicht so zu verstecken, daß euer Gehör, eure Augen und eure Häute nicht Zeugnis gegen euch ablegten. Aber ihr meintet, daß Allah nicht viel wisse von dem, was ihr tut. |
|
| 23. | وَذَٰلِكُمْ ظَنُّكُمُ الَّذِي ظَنَنتُم بِرَبِّكُمْ أَرْدَاكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم مِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Wathalikum thannukumu allathee thanantum birabbikum ardakum faasbahtum mina alkhasireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "But this thought of yours which ye did entertain concerning your Lord, hath brought you to destruction, and (now) have ye become of those utterly lost!" |
| Shakir: | And that was your (evil) thought which you entertained about your Lord that has tumbled you down into perdition, so are you become of the lost ones. |
| Pickthall: | That, your thought which ye did think about your Lord, hath ruined you; and ye find yourselves (this day) among the lost. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord, has brought you to destruction; and you have become (this Day) of those utterly lost! |
| French: | Et c'est cette pensée que vous avez eue de votre Seigneur, qui vous a ruinés, de sorte que vous êtes devenus du nombre des perdants. |
| Spanish: | Lo que vosotros pensabais de vuestro Señor os ha arruinado y ahora sois de los que han perdido». |
| Indonesian: | Dan yang demikian itu adalah prasangkamu yang telah kamu sangka terhadap Tuhanmu, prasangka itu telah membinasakan kamu, maka jadilah kamu termasuk orang-orang yang merugi.

| Malay:: | Dan sangkaan kamu yang demikian, yang kamu sangka terhadap Tuhan kamu, itulah yang telah membinasakan kamu; (dengan sangkaan kamu yang salah itu) maka menjadilah kamu dari orang-orang yang rugi!

| German: | Und diese eure Meinung, die ihr von eurem Herrn hattet, hat euch ins Verderben gestürzt, so daß ihr jetzt zu den Verlierern gehört." |

| 24. | فَإِن يَصْبِرُوا فَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَسْتَعْتِبُوا فَمَا هُم مِّنَ الْمُعْتَبِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Fain yasbiroo faalnnaru mathwan lahum wain yastaAAtiboo fama hum mina almuAAtabeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | If, then, they have patience, the Fire will be a home for them! and if they beg to be received into favour, into favour will they not (then) be received. |
| Shakir: | Then if they will endure, still the fire is their abode, and if they ask for goodwill, then are they not of those who shall be granted goodwill. |
| Pickthall: | And though they are resigned, yet the Fire is still their home; and if they ask for favour, yet they are not of those unto whom favour can be shown. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then, if they bear the torment patiently, then the Fire is the home for them, and if they seek to please Allah, yet they are not of those who will ever be allowed to please Allah. |
| French: | S'ils endurent, le Feu sera leur lieu de séjour; et s'ils cherchent à s'excuser, ils ne seront pas excusés. |
| Spanish: | Aunque tengan paciencia, el Fuego será su morada. Y, aunque pidan gracia, no se les concederá. |
| Indonesian: | Jika mereka bersabar (menderita azab) maka nerakalah tempat diam mereka dan jika mereka mengemukakan alasan-alasan, maka tidaklah mereka termasuk orang-orang yang diterima alasannya.

| Malay:: | Oleh itu, samada mereka bersabar menderita azab atau sebaliknya (maka sama sahaja) kerana Nerakalah tempat tinggal mereka dan jika mereka memohon peluang untuk mendapat keredaan Allah, maka mereka bukanlah lagi dari orang-orang yang diterima permohonannya.

| German: | (Auch) wenn sie standhaft sind, so ist (doch) das (Höllen)feuer ein Aufenthaltsort für sie'. Und wenn sie um Erweisung von Gnade bitten, so werden sie doch nicht zu den Begnadigten gehören. |

| 25. | ۞ وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَاءَ فَزَيَّنُوا لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqayyadna lahum quranaa fazayyanoo lahum ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wahaqqa AAalayhimu alqawlu fee omamin qad khalat min qablihim mina aljinni waalinsi innahum kanoo khasireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | And We have destined for them intimate companions (of like nature), who made alluring to them what was before them and behind them; and the sentence among the previous generations of Jinns and men, who have passed away, is proved against them; for they are utterly lost. |
| Shakir: | And We have appointed for them comrades so they have made fair-seeming to them what is before them and what is behind them, and the word proved true against them-- among the nations of the jinn and the men that have passed away before them-- that they shall surely be losers. |
| Pickthall: | And We assigned them comrades (in the world), who made their present and their past fairseeming unto them. And the Word concerning nations of the jinn and humankind who passed away before them hath effect for them. Lo! they were ever losers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We have assigned for them (devils) intimate companions (in this world), who have made fair-seeming to them, what was before them (evil deeds which they were doing in the present worldly life and disbelief in the Reckoning and the Resurrection) and what was behind them (denial of the matters in the coming life of the Hereafter as regards punishment or reward). And the Word (i.e. the torment) is justified against them as it was justified against those who were among the previous generations of jinn and men that had passed away before them. Indeed they (all) were the losers. |
| French: | Et Nous leur avons destiné des compagnons inséparables [des démons] qui leur ont enjolivé ce qui était devant et derrière eux. Et le décret s'est avéré juste contre eux, comme contre les autres communautés de djinns et d'hommes qui ont vécu avant eux. Ils sont certes perdants! |
| Spanish: | Les hemos asignado compañeros, que han engalanado su estado actual y su estado futuro. Se ha cumplido en ellos la sentencia que también alcanzó a otras comunidades de genios y de mortales que les precedieron. Han perdido. |
| Indonesian: | Dan Kami tetapkan bagi mereka teman-teman yang menjadikan mereka memandang bagus apa yang ada di hadapan dan di belakang mereka dan tetaplah atas mereka keputusan azab pada umat-umat yang terdahulu sebelum mereka dari jin dan manusia; sesungguhnya mereka adalah orang-orang yang merugi.

| Malay:: | Dan Kami adakan untuk mereka teman-teman rapat (dari jin dan manusia), lalu teman-teman itu memperhiaskan kepada mereka (fahaman-fahaman sesat) mengenai perkara-perkara dunia yang ada di hadapan mereka, serta perkara-perkara akhirat yang ada di belakang mereka dan (dengan sebab itu) tetaplah hukuman (azab) atas mereka bersama-sama dengan umat (yang sesat) dari jin dan manusia yang terdahulu daripada mereka. Sesungguhnya mereka semuanya adalah golongan yang rugi (bawaan hidupnya).

| German: | Und Wir hatten ihnen Gesellen verschafft, die ihnen dann ausschmückten, was vor ihnen und was hinter ihnen lag. Und unvermeidlich fällig wurde das Wort gegen sie, unter (anderen) Gemeinschaften von den Ginn und den Menschen, die vor ihnen dahingegangen waren. Gewiß, sie waren ja Verlierer. |

| 26. | وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَا تَسْمَعُوا لِهَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ وَالْغَوْا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَغْلِبُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqala allatheena kafaroo la tasmaAAoo lihatha alqurani wailghaw feehi laAAallakum taghliboona |
| Yusuf Ali: | The Unbelievers say: "Listen not to this Qur'an, but talk at random in the midst of its (reading), that ye may gain the upper hand!" |
| Shakir: | And those who disbelieve say: Do not listen to this Quran and make noise therein, perhaps you may overcome. |
| Pickthall: | Those who disbelieve say: Heed not this Qur'an, and drown the hearing of it; haply ye may conquer. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And those who disbelieve say: "Listen not to this Qur'an, and make noise in the midst of its (recitation) that you may overcome." |
| French: | Et ceux qui avaient mécru dirent: «Ne prêtez pas l'oreille à ce Coran, et faites du chahut (pendant sa récitation), afin d'avoir le dessus». |
| Spanish: | Los infieles dicen: «¡No hagáis caso de este Corán ! ¡Parlotead cuando lo lean. Quizás, así, os salgáis con la vuestra!» |
| Indonesian: | Dan orang-orang yang kafir berkata: "Janganlah kamu mendengar dengan sungguh-sungguh akan Al Qur'an ini dan buatlah hiruk-pikuk terhadapnya, supaya kamu dapat mengalahkan (mereka).

| Malay:: | Dan orang-orang yang kafir berkata: Janganlah kamu mendengar Al-Quran ini dan tentanglah ia (dengan nyayian-nyanyian dan jeritan-jeritan riuh rendah serta tepuk sorak), supaya kamu berjaya (mengganggu bacaan atau menenggelamkan suara pembacanya)!

| German: | Diejenigen, die ungläubig sind, sagen: "Hört nicht auf diesen Qur'an, und führt dazwischen unbedachte Reden, auf daß ihr siegen möget." |

| 27. | فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَسْوَأَ الَّذِي كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Falanutheeqanna allatheena kafaroo AAathaban shadeedan walanajziyannahum aswaa allathee kanoo yaAAmaloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | But We will certainly give the Unbelievers a taste of a severe Penalty, and We will requite them for the worst of their deeds. |
| Shakir: | Therefore We will most certainly make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment, and We will most certainly reward them for the evil deeds they used to do. |
| Pickthall: | But verily We shall cause those who disbelieve to taste an awful doom, and verily We shall requite them the worst of what they used to do. |
| Mohsin Khan: | But surely, We shall cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe torment, and certainly, We shall requite them the worst of what they used to do. |
| French: | Nous ferons certes, goûter à ceux qui ne croient pas un dur châtiment, et les rétribuerons certes [d'une punition] pire que ce [que méritent] leurs méfaits. |
| Spanish: | A los infieles les haremos gustar, sí, un severo castigo y les retribuiremos, sí, con arreglo a sus peores obras. |
| Indonesian: | Maka sesungguhnya Kami akan merasakan azab yang keras kepada orang-orang kafir dan Kami akan memberi balasan kepada mereka dengan seburuk-buruk pembalasan bagi apa yang telah mereka kerjakan.

| Malay:: | Maka, demi sesungguhnya! Kami akan merasakan orang-orang yang kafir itu azab seksa yang seberat-beratnya dan Kami akan membalas mereka dengan seburuk-buruk balasan bagi apa yang mereka telah kerjakan.

| German: | Ganz gewiß werden Wir diejenigen, die ungläubig sind, eine strenge Strafe kosten lassen, und ganz gewiß werden Wir ihnen das Schlechteste von dem vergelten, was sie zu tun pflegten. |

| 28. | ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ أَعْدَاءِ اللَّهِ النَّارُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا دَارُ الْخُلْدِ ۖ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Thalika jazao aAAdai Allahi alnnaru lahum feeha daru alkhuldi jazaan bima kanoo biayatina yajhadoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Such is the requital of the enemies of Allah,- the Fire: therein will be for them the Eternal Home: a (fit) requital, for that they were wont to reject Our Signs. |
| Shakir: | That is the reward of the enemies of Allah-- the fire; for them therein shall be the house of long abiding; a reward for their denying Our communications. |
| Pickthall: | That is the reward of Allah's enemies: the Fire. Therein is their immortal home, payment forasmuch as they denied Our revelations. |
| Mohsin Khan: | That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah: the Fire. Therein will be for them the eternal home, a (deserving) recompense for that they used to deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). |
| French: | Ainsi, la rétribution des ennemis d'Allah sera le Feu où ils auront une demeure éternelle, comme punition pour avoir nié Nos versets [le Coran]. |
| Spanish: | ésa es la retribución de los enemigos de Alá: el Fuego, en el que tendrán la Morada de la Eternidad, como retribución de haber negado Nuestros signos. |
| Indonesian: | Demikianlah balasan (terhadap) musuh-musuh Allah, (yaitu) neraka; mereka mendapat tempat tinggal yang kekal di dalamnya sebagai pembalasan atas keingkaran mereka terhadap ayat-ayat Kami.

| Malay:: | Demikianlah keadaannya balasan musuh-musuh Allah iaitu Neraka; disediakan untuk mereka tempat tinggal yang kekal di dalamnya, sebagai balasan bagi perbuatan mereka sentiasa mengingkari ayat-ayat Kami.

| German: | Das ist der Lohn der Feinde Allahs: das (Höllen)feuer, in dem sie die ewige Wohnstätte haben, als Vergeltung dafür, daß sie Unsere Zeichen zu verleugnen pflegten. |

| 29. | وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّنَا أَرِنَا اللَّذَيْنِ أَضَلَّانَا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ نَجْعَلْهُمَا تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِنَا لِيَكُونَا مِنَ الْأَسْفَلِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqala allatheena kafaroo rabbana arina allathayni adallana mina aljinni waalinsi najAAalhuma tahta aqdamina liyakoona mina alasfaleena |
| Yusuf Ali: | And the Unbelievers will say: "Our Lord! Show us those, among Jinns and men, who misled us: We shall crush them beneath our feet, so that they become the vilest (before all)." |
| Shakir: | And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! show us those who led us astray from among the jinn and the men that we may trample them under our feet so that they may be of the lowest. |
| Pickthall: | And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! Show us those who beguiled us of the jinn and humankind. We will place them underneath our feet that they may be among the nethermost. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And those who disbelieve will say: "Our Lord! Show us those among jinn and men who led us astray: that we may crush them under our feet so that they become the lowest." |
| French: | Et les mécréants diront: «Seigneur, fais-nous voir ceux des djinns et des humains qui nous ont égarés, afin que nous les placions tous sous nos pieds, pour qu'ils soient parmi les plus bas». |
| Spanish: | Los infieles dirán: «¡Señor! ¡Muéstranos a los genios y a los mortales que nos han extraviado y los pondremos bajo nuestros pies para que estén en lo más profundo!» |
| Indonesian: | Dan orang-orang kafir berkata: "Ya Tuhan kami perlihatkanlah kami dua jenis orang yang telah menyesatkan kami (yaitu) sebagian dari jin dan manusia agar kami letakkan keduanya di bawah telapak kaki kami supaya kedua jenis itu menjadi orang-orang yang hina".

| Malay:: | Dan orang-orang yang kafir berkata: Wahai Tuhan kami! Perlihatkanlah kepada kami dua golongan yang telah menyesatkan kami dari jin dan manusia, untuk kami meletakkan mereka di bawah tapak kaki kami, supaya mereka menjadi golongan yang terkebawah dalam kehinaan.

| German: | Und diejenigen, die ungläubig sind, werden sagen: "Unser Herr, zeige uns die beiden von den Ginn und den Menschen, die uns in die Irre geführt haben, daß wir sie unter unsere Füße legen, damit sie zu den Unterlegenen gehören." |

| 30. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Inna allatheena qaloo rabbuna Allahu thumma istaqamoo tatanazzalu AAalayhimu almalaikatu alla takhafoo wala tahzanoo waabshiroo bialjannati allatee kuntum tooAAadoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah", and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear ye not!" (they suggest), "Nor grieve! but receive the Glad Tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which ye were promised! |
| Shakir: | (As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then continue in the right way, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not, nor be grieved, and receive good news of the garden which you were promised. |
| Pickthall: | Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised! |
| French: | Ceux qui disent: «Notre Seigneur est Allah», et qui se tiennent dans le droit chemin, les Anges descendent sur eux. «N'ayez pas peur et ne soyez pas affligés; mais ayez la bonne nouvelle du Paradis qui vous était promis. |
| Spanish: | A los que hayan dicho: «¡Nuestro Señor es Alá!» y se hayan portado correctamente, descenderán los ángeles: «¡No temáis ni estéis tristes! ¡Regocijaos, más bien, por el Jardín que se os había prometido! |
| Indonesian: | Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang mengatakan: "Tuhan kami ialah Allah" kemudian mereka meneguhkan pendirian mereka, maka malaikat akan turun kepada mereka (dengan mengatakan): "Janganlah kamu merasa takut dan janganlah kamu merasa sedih; dan bergembiralah kamu dengan (memperoleh) surga yang telah dijanjikan Allah kepadamu".

| Malay:: | Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang menegaskan keyakinannya dengan berkata: Tuhan kami ialah Allah, kemudian mereka tetap teguh di atas jalan yang betul, akan turunlah malaikat kepada mereka dari semasa ke semasa (dengan memberi ilham): Janganlah kamu bimbang (dari berlakunya kejadian yang tidak baik terhadap kamu) dan janganlah kamu berdukacita dan terimalah berita gembira bahawa kamu akan beroleh Syurga yang telah dijanjikan kepada kamu.

| 31. | نَحْنُ أَوْلِيَاؤُكُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Nahnu awliyaokum fee alhayati alddunya wafee alakhirati walakum feeha ma tashtahee anfusukum walakum feeha ma taddaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall ye have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall ye have all that ye ask for!- |
| Shakir: | We are your guardians in this world's life and in the hereafter, and you shall have therein what your souls desire and you shall have therein what you ask for: |
| Pickthall: | We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There ye will have (all) that your souls desire, and there ye will have (all) for which ye pray. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "We have been your friends in the life of this world and are (so) in the Hereafter. Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask. |
| French: | Nous sommes vos protecteurs dans la vie présente et dans l'au-delà; et vous y aurez ce que vos âmes désireront et ce que vous réclamerez, |
| Spanish: | Somos vuestros amigos en la vida de acá y en la otra. Tendréis allí todo cuanto vuestras almas deseen, todo cuanto pidáis, |
| Indonesian: | Kamilah Pelindung-pelindungmu dalam kehidupan dunia dan di akhirat; di dalamnya kamu memperoleh apa yang kamu inginkan dan memperoleh (pula) di dalamnya apa yang kamu minta.

| Malay:: | Kamilah penolong-penolong kamu dalam kehidupan dunia dan pada hari akhirat dan kamu akan beroleh pada hari akhirat apa yang diingini oleh nafsu kamu, serta kamu akan beroleh pada hari itu apa yang kamu cita-citakan mendapatnya.

| German: | Wir sind eure Beschützer im diesseitigen Leben und im Jenseits. Ihr werdet darin haben, was eure Seelen begehren, und ihr werdet darin haben, was ihr erbetet, |

| 32. | نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ |
| Transliteration: | Nuzulan min ghafoorin raheemin |
| Yusuf Ali: | "A hospitable gift from one Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful!" |
| Shakir: | A provision from the Forgiving, the Merciful. |
| Pickthall: | A gift of welcome from One Forgiving, Merciful. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." |
| French: | un lieu d'accueil de la part d'un Très Grand Pardonneur, d'un Très Miséricordieux». |
| Spanish: | como alojamiento venido de Uno Que es indulgente, misericordioso». |

| German: | - eine gastliche Aufnahme von einem Allvergebenden, einem Barmherzigen." |

| 33. | وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلًا مِّمَّن دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waman ahsanu qawlan mimman daAAa ila Allahi waAAamila salihan waqala innanee mina almuslimeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says, "I am of those who bow in Islam"? |
| Shakir: | And who speaks better than he who calls to Allah while he himself does good, and says: I am surely of those who submit? |
| Pickthall: | And who is better in speech than him who prayeth unto his Lord and doeth right, and saith: Lo! I am of those who are muslims (surrender unto Him). |
| Mohsin Khan: | And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands firm (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims." |
| French: | Et qui profère plus belles paroles que celui qui appelle à Allah, fait bonne œuvre et dit: «Je suis du nombre des Musulmans?» |
| Spanish: | ¿Quién hay, pues, que hable mejor que quien llama a Alá, obra bien y dice: «Soy de los que se someten a Alá»? |
| Indonesian: | Siapakah yang lebih baik perkataannya daripada orang yang menyeru kepada Allah, mengerjakan amal yang saleh dan berkata: "Sesungguhnya aku termasuk orang-orang yang berserah diri?"

| Malay:: | Dan tidak ada yang lebih baik perkataannya daripada orang yang menyeru kepada (mengesakan dan mematuhi perintah) Allah, serta dia sendiri mengerjakan amal yang soleh, sambil berkata: Sesungguhnya aku adalah dari orang-orang Islam (yang berserah bulat-bulat kepada Allah)!

| German: | Und wer spricht bessere Worte als wer zu Allah ruft, rechtschaffen handelt und sagt: "Gewiß doch, ich gehöre zu den (Allah) Ergebenen " ? |

| 34. | وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ۚ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ |
| Transliteration: | Wala tastawee alhasanatu wala alssayyiatu idfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu faitha allathee baynaka wabaynahu AAadawatun kaannahu waliyyun hameemun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate! |
| Shakir: | And not alike are the good and the evil. Repel (evil) with what is best, when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a warm friend. |
| Pickthall: | The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend. |
| Mohsin Khan: | The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allah orders the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly) then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend. |
| French: | La bonne action et la mauvaise ne sont pas pareilles. Repousse (le mal) par ce qui est meilleur; et voilà que celui avec qui tu avais une animosité devient tel un ami chaleureux. |
| Spanish: | No es igual obrar bien y obrar mal. ¡Repele con lo que sea mejor y he aquí que aquél de quien te separe la enemistad se convetirá en amigo ferviente! |
| Indonesian: | Dan tidaklah sama kebaikan dan kejahatan. Tolaklah (kejahatan itu) dengan cara yang lebih baik, maka tiba-tiba orang yang antaramu dan antara dia ada permusuhan seolah-olah telah menjadi teman yang sangat setia.

| Malay:: | Dan tidaklah sama (kesannya dan hukumnya) perbuatan yang baik dan perbuatan yang jahat. Tolaklah (kejahatan yang ditujukan kepadamu) dengan cara yang lebih baik; apabila engkau berlaku demikian maka orang yang menaruh rasa permusuhan terhadapmu, dengan serta merta akan menjadi seolah-olah seorang sahabat karib.

| German: | Nicht gleich sind die gute Tat und die schlechte Tat. Wehre mit einer Tat, die besser ist, (die schlechte) ab, dann wird derjenige, zwischen dem und dir Feindschaft besteht, so, als wäre er ein warmherziger Freund. |

| 35. | وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ |
| Transliteration: | Wama yulaqqaha illa allatheena sabaroo wama yulaqqaha illa thoo haththin AAatheemin |
| Yusuf Ali: | And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- none but persons of the greatest good fortune. |
| Shakir: | And none are made to receive it but those who are patient, and none are made to receive it but those who have a mighty good fortune. |
| Pickthall: | But none is granted it save those who are steadfast, and none is granted it save the owner of great happiness. |
| Mohsin Khan: | But none is granted it (the above quality) except those who are patient - and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion (of happiness in the Hereafter i.e. Paradise and of a high moral character) in this world. |
| French: | Mais (ce privilège) n'est donné qu'à ceux qui endurent et il n'est donné qu'au possesseur d'une grâce infinie. |
| Spanish: | Esto sólo lo consiguen los pacientes, sólo lo consigue el de suerte extraordinaria. |
| Indonesian: | Sifat-sifat yang baik itu tidak dianugerahkan melainkan kepada orang-orang yang sabar dan tidak dianugerahkan melainkan kepada orang-orang yang mempunyai keberuntungan yang besar.

| Malay:: | Dan sifat yang terpuji ini tidak dapat diterima dan diamalkan melainkan oleh orang-orang yang bersikap sabar dan tidak juga dapat diterima dan diamalkan melainkan oleh orang yang mempunyai bahagian yang besar dari kebahagiaan dunia dan akhirat.

| German: | Aber dies wird nur denjenigen dargeboten, die standhaft sind, ja es wird nur demjenigen dargeboten, der ein gewaltiges Glück hat. |

| 36. | وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ |
| Transliteration: | Waimma yanzaghannaka mina alshshaytani nazghun faistaAAith biAllahi innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu |
| Yusuf Ali: | And if (at any time) an incitement to discord is made to thee by the Evil One, seek refuge in Allah. He is the One Who hears and knows all things. |
| Shakir: | And if an interference of the Shaitan should cause you mischief, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. |
| Pickthall: | And if a whisper from the devil reach thee (O Muhammad) then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is the Hearer, the Knower. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And if an evil whisper from Shaitan (Satan) tries to turn you away (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) (from doing good), then seek refuge in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. |
| French: | Et si jamais le Diable t'incite (à agir autrement), alors cherche refuge auprès d'Allah; c'est Lui, vraiment l'Audient, l'Omniscient. |
| Spanish: | Si el Demonio te incita al mal, busca refugio en Alá. Él es Quien todo lo oye, Quien todo lo sabe. |
| Indonesian: | Dan jika syaitan mengganggumu dengan suatu gangguan, maka mohonlah perlindungan kepada Allah. Sesungguhnya Dia-lah Yang Maha Mendengar lagi Maha Mengetahui.

| Malay:: | Dan jika engkau dihasut oleh sesuatu hasutan dari Syaitan, maka hendaklah engkau meminta perlindungan kepada Allah. Sesungguhnya Dialah Yang Maha Mendengar, lagi Maha Mengetahui.

| German: | Und wenn dich vom Satan eine Eingebung aufstachelt, dann suche Zuflucht bei Allah, denn Er ist ja der Allhörende und Allwissende. |

| 37. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ۚ لَا تَسْجُدُوا لِلشَّمْسِ وَلَا لِلْقَمَرِ وَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُنَّ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wamin ayatihi allaylu waalnnaharu waalshshamsu waalqamaru la tasjudoo lilshshamsi wala lilqamari waosjudoo lillahi alathee khalaqahunna in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Among His Signs are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Do not prostrate to the sun and the moon, but prostrate to Allah, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve. |
| Shakir: | And among His signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon; do not prostrate to the sun nor to the moon; and prostrate to Allah Who created them, if Him it is that you serve. |
| Pickthall: | And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon; but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate yourselves not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him. |
| French: | Parmi Ses merveilles, sont la nuit et le jour, le soleil et la lune: ne vous prosternez ni devant le soleil, ni devant la lune, mais prosternez-vous devant Allah qui les a créés, si c'est Lui que vous adorez. |

| Indonesian: | Dan sebagian dari tanda-tanda kekuasaan-Nya ialah malam, siang, matahari dan bulan. Janganlah bersujud kepada matahari dan janganlah (pula) kepada bulan, tetapi bersujudlah kepada Allah Yang menciptakannya, jika kamu hanya kepada-Nya saja menyembah.

| Malay:: | Dan di antara tanda-tanda kekuasaanNya ialah malam dan siang, serta matahari dan bulan. Janganlah kamu sujud kepada matahari dan janganlah pula sujud kepada bulan dan sebaliknya hendaklah kamu sujud kepada Allah yang menciptakannya, kalau betulah kamu hanya beribadat kepada Allah.

| German: | Und zu Seinen Zeichen gehören die Nacht und der Tag, die Sonne und der Mond. Werft euch weder vor der Sonne noch vor dem Mond nieder, sondern werft euch vor Allah nieder, Der sie erschaffen hat, wenn ihr (tatsächlich) Ihm allein dient. |

| 38. | فَإِنِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فَالَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْأَمُونَ ۩ |
| Transliteration: | Faini istakbaroo faallatheena AAinda rabbika yusabbihoona lahu biallayli waalnnahari wahum la yasamoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | But is the (Unbelievers) are arrogant, (no matter): for in the presence of thy Lord are those who celebrate His praises by night and by day. And they never flag (nor feel themselves above it). |
| Shakir: | But if they are proud, yet those with your Lord glorify Him during the night and the day, and they are not tired. |
| Pickthall: | But if they are too proud - still those who are with thy Lord glorify Him night and day, and tire not. |
| Mohsin Khan: | But if they are too proud (to do so), then there are those who are with your Lord (angels) glorify Him night and day, and never are they tired. |
| French: | Mais s'ils s'enflent d'orgueil... ceux qui sont auprès de ton Seigneur [les Anges] Le glorifient, nuit et jour, sans jamais se lasser! |
| Spanish: | Si se muestran altivos, en cambio, quienes están junto a tu Señor Le glorifican, incansables, noche y día. |
| Indonesian: | Jika mereka menyombongkan diri, maka mereka (malaikat) yang di sisi Tuhanmu bertasbih kepada-Nya di malam dan siang hari, sedang mereka tidak jemu-jemu.

| Malay:: | Oleh itu, kalau mereka tetap ingkar dengan angkuhnya (daripada mematuhi perintah Allah dan mengesakanNya, maka tidaklah menjejaskan kebesaran Tuhan), kerana malaikat-malaikat yang ada di sisi Tuhanmu tetap bertasbih kepadaNya pada waktu malam dan siang, dengan tidak mereka merasa jemu.

| German: | Wenn sie sich jedoch hochmütig weigern ... (, dann lasse sie,) - diejenigen, die bei deinem Herrn sind, preisen Ihn doch bei Nacht und Tag, ohne Überdruß zu empfinden. |

| 39. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنَّكَ تَرَى الْأَرْضَ خَاشِعَةً فَإِذَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا الْمَاءَ اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِي أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |
| Transliteration: | Wamin ayatihi annaka tara alarda khashiAAatan faitha anzalna AAalayha almaa ihtazzat warabat inna allathee ahyaha lamuhyee almawta innahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun |
| Yusuf Ali: | And among His Signs in this: thou seest the earth barren and desolate; but when We send down rain to it, it is stirred to life and yields increase. Truly, He Who gives life to the (dead) earth can surely give life to (men) who are dead. For He has power over all things. |
| Shakir: | And among His signs is this, that you see the earth still, but when We send down on it the water, it stirs and swells: most surely He Who gives it life is the Giver of life to the dead; surely He has power over all things. |
| Pickthall: | And of His portents (is this): that thou seest the earth lowly, but when We send down water thereon it thrilleth and groweth. Lo! He Who quickeneth it is verily the Quickener of the Dead. Lo! He is Able to do all things. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And among His Signs (in this), that you see the earth barren; but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth (of vegetations). Verily, He Who gives it life, surely, is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of Resurrection). Indeed He is Able to do all things. |
| French: | Et parmi Ses merveilles est que tu vois la terre humiliée (toute nue). Puis aussitôt que Nous faisons descendre l'eau sur elle, elle se soulève et augmente [de volume]. Celui qui lui redonne la vie est certes Celui qui fera revivre les morts, car Il est Omnipotent. |
| Spanish: | Ves entre Sus signos que la tierra está seca. Luego, se reanima y reverdece cuando hacemos llover sobre ella. En verdad, Quien la vivifica puede también, vivificar a los muertos. Es omnipotente. |
| Indonesian: | Dan sebagian dari tanda-tanda (kekuasaan)-Nya bahwa kamu melihat bumi itu kering tandus, maka apabila Kami turunkan air di atasnya, niscaya ia bergerak dan subur. Sesungguhnya Tuhan Yang menghidupkannya tentu dapat menghidupkan yang mati; sesungguhnya Dia Maha Kuasa atas segala sesuatu.

| Malay:: | Dan di antara tanda-tanda kekuasaanNya, engkau melihat bumi kosong sepi (dalam keadaan kering dan tandus), maka apabila Kami menurunkan hujan menimpanya, bergeraklah tanahnya serta suburlah tanamannya. Sesungguhnya Allah yang menghidupkannya sudah tentu berkuasa menghidupkan makhluk-makhluk yang telah mati; sesungguhnya Dia Maha Kuasa atas tiap-tiap sesuatu.

| German: | Zu Seinen Zeichen gehört es, daß du die Erde demütig siehst. Wenn Wir aber Wasser auf sie herabkommen lassen, regt sie sich und schwillt. Gewiß, Derjenige, Der sie wieder belebt, wird (auch) die Toten wieder lebendig machen, denn gewiß, Er hat zu allem die Macht. |

| 40. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَا ۗ أَفَمَن يُلْقَىٰ فِي النَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّن يَأْتِي آمِنًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ |
| Transliteration: | Inna allatheena yulhidoona fee ayatina la yakhfawna AAalayna afaman yulqa fee alnnari khayrun am man yatee aminan yawma alqiyamati iAAmaloo ma shitum innahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Those who pervert the Truth in Our Signs are not hidden from Us. Which is better?- he that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes safe through, on the Day of Judgment? Do what ye will: verily He seeth (clearly) all that ye do. |
| Shakir: | Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do. |
| Pickthall: | Lo! those who distort Our revelations are not hid from Us. Is he who is hurled into the Fire better, or he who cometh secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what ye will. Lo! He is Seer of what ye do. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Verily, those who turn away from Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc. by attacking, distorting and denying them) are not hidden from Us. Is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what you will. Verily He is All-Seer of what you do (this is a severe threat to the disbelievers ). |
| French: | Ceux qui dénaturent le sens de Nos versets (le Coran) ne Nous échappent pas. Celui qui sera jeté au Feu sera-t-il meilleur que celui qui viendra en toute sécurité le Jour de la Résurrection? Faites ce que vous voulez car Il est Clairvoyant sur tout ce que vous faites; |
| Spanish: | Los que niegan Nuestros signos no pueden ocultarse a Nosotros. Qué es mejor: ¿ser arrojado al Fuego o venir en seguridad: el día de la Resurrección? ¡Haced lo que queráis! Él ve bien lo que hacéis. |
| Indonesian: | Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang mengingkari ayat-ayat Kami, mereka tidak tersembunyi dari Kami. Maka apakah orang-orang yang dilemparkan ke dalam neraka lebih baik ataukah orang-orang yang datang dengan aman sentosa pada hari kiamat? Perbuatlah apa yang kamu kehendaki; sesungguhnya Dia Maha Melihat apa yang kamu kerjakan.

| Malay:: | Sebenarnya orang-orang yang menyeleweng dari jalan yang benar mengenai ayat-ayat keterangan Kami, tidak terselindung keadaan mereka dari (pengetahuan) Kami. (Kalau sudah demikian), maka adakah orang yang dihumbankan ke dalam Neraka lebih baik atau orang yang datang dalam keadaan aman dan selamat pada hari kiamat? (Katakanlah kepada orang-orang yang menyeleweng itu): Buatlah apa yang kamu suka, sesungguhnya Allah Maha Melihat akan apa yang kamu lakukan (dan akan membalasnya).

| German: | Gewiß, diejenigen, die mit Unseren Zeichen abwegig umgehen, sind Uns nicht verborgen. Ist denn einer, der ins (Höllen)feuer geworfen wird, besser oder jemand, der am Tag der Auferstehung in Sicherheit kommt. Tut, was ihr wollt, denn was ihr tut, sieht Er wohl. |

| 41. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِالذِّكْرِ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ ۖ وَإِنَّهُ لَكِتَابٌ عَزِيزٌ |
| Transliteration: | Inna allatheena kafaroo bialththikri lamma jaahum wainnahu lakitabun AAazeezun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Those who reject the Message when it comes to them (are not hidden from Us). And indeed it is a Book of exalted power. |
| Shakir: | Surely those who disbelieve in the reminder when it comes to them, and most surely it is a Mighty Book: |
| Pickthall: | Lo! those who disbelieve in the Reminder when it cometh unto them (are guilty), for lo! it is an unassailable Scripture. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Verily, those who disbelieved in the Reminder (i.e. the Qur'an) when it came to them (shall receive the punishment). And verily, it is an honourable well-fortified respected Book (because it is Allah's Speech, and He has protected it from corruption. (See V.15:9) |

| Malay:: | Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang kufur ingkar terhadap Al-Quran ketika sampainya kepada mereka, (akan ditimpa azab seksa yang tidak terperi); sedang Al-Quran itu, demi sesungguhnya sebuah Kitab Suci yang tidak dapat ditandingi,

| German: | Gewiß, diejenigen, die die Ermahnung verleugnen, nachdem sie zu ihnen gekommen ist ... Es ist fürwahr ein wehrhaftes Buch, |

| 42. | لَّا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ۖ تَنزِيلٌ مِّنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ |
| Transliteration: | La yateehi albatilu min bayni yadayhi wala min khalfihi tanzeelun min hakeemin hameedin |
| Yusuf Ali: | No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it: It is sent down by One Full of Wisdom, Worthy of all Praise. |
| Shakir: | Falsehood shall not come to it from before it nor from behind it; a revelation from the Wise, the Praised One. |
| Pickthall: | Falsehood cannot come at it from before it or from behind it. (It is) a revelation from the Wise, the Owner of Praise. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it: (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allah عز وجل). |
| French: | Le faux ne l'atteint [d'aucune part], ni par devant ni par derrière: c'est une révélation émanant d'un Sage, Digne de louange. |
| Spanish: | completamente inaccesible a lo falso, revelación procedente de uno Que es sabio, digno de alabanza. |
| Indonesian: | Yang tidak datang kepadanya (Al Qur'an) kebathilan baik dari depan maupun dari belakangnya, yang diturunkan dari Tuhan Yang Maha Bijaksana lagi Maha Terpuji.

| Malay:: | Yang tidak dapat didatangi sebarang kepalsuan dari mana-mana arah dan seginya; ia diturunkan dari Tuhan Yang Maha Bijaksana, lagi Maha Terpuji.

| German: | an das das Falsche weder von vorn noch von hinten herankommt, eine Offenbarung von einem Allweisen und Lobenswürdigen. |

| 43. | مَّا يُقَالُ لَكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ قِيلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغْفِرَةٍ وَذُو عِقَابٍ أَلِيمٍ |
| Transliteration: | Ma yuqalu laka illa ma qad qeela lilrrusuli min qablika inna rabbaka lathoo maghfiratin wathoo AAiqabin aleemin |
| Yusuf Ali: | Nothing is said to thee that was not said to the messengers before thee: that thy lord has at his Command (all) forgiveness as well as a most Grievous Penalty. |
| Shakir: | Naught is said to you but what was said indeed to the apostles before you; surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness and the Lord of painful retribution. |
| Pickthall: | Naught is said unto thee (Muhammad) save what was said unto the messengers before thee. Lo! thy Lord is owner of forgiveness, and owner (also) of dire punishment. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Nothing is said to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) except what was said to the Messengers before you. Verily, your Lord is the Possessor of Forgiveness, and (also) the Possessor of Painful Punishment. |
| French: | Il ne t'est dit que ce qui a été dit aux Messagers avant toi. Ton Seigneur est certes Détenteur du pardon et Détenteur aussi d'une punition douloureuse. |
| Spanish: | No se te dice sino lo que ya se dijo a los enviados que te precedieron: que tu Señor está dispuesto a perdonar, pero también a castigar dolorosamente. |
| Indonesian: | Tidaklah ada yang dikatakan (oleh orang-orang kafir) kepadamu itu selain apa yang sesungguhnya telah dikatakan kepada rasul-rasul sebelum kamu. Sesungguhnya Tuhan kamu benar-benar mempunyai ampunan dan hukuman yang pedih.

| Malay:: | Apa yang dikatakan kepadamu (wahai Muhammad, dari celaan-celaan golongan yang ingkar, tidak lain) hanyalah seperti yang pernah dikatakan kepada Rasul-rasul yang terdahuhu daripadamu. (Oleh itu bersabarlah dengan cekal hati menghadapinya), sesungguhnya Tuhanmu berkuasa penuh melimpahkan keampunanNya (kepada orang-orang yang taat) dan berkuasa penuh menimpakan azab seksa yang tidak terperi sakitnya (kepada orang-orang yang ingkar).

| German: | Es wird dir nur das gesagt, was schon den Gesandten vor dir gesagt wurde. Dein Herr ist wahrlich voll der Vergebung und verhängt (auch) schmerzhafte Strafe. |

| 44. | وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا أَعْجَمِيًّا لَّقَالُوا لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ ۖ أَأَعْجَمِيٌّ وَعَرَبِيٌّ ۗ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى ۚ أُولَـٰئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ |
| Transliteration: | Walaw jaAAalnahu quranan aAAjamiyyan laqaloo lawla fussilat ayatuhu aaAAjamiyyun waAAarabiyyun qul huwa lillatheena amanoo hudan washifaon waallatheena la yuminoona fee athanihim waqrun wahuwa AAalayhim AAaman olaika yunadawna min makanin baAAeedin |
| Yusuf Ali: | Had We sent this as a Qur'an (in the language) other than Arabic, they would have said: "Why are not its verses explained in detail? What! (a Book) not in Arabic and (a Messenger an Arab?" Say: "It is a Guide and a Healing to those who believe; and for those who believe not, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness in their (eyes): They are (as it were) being called from a place far distant!" |
| Shakir: | And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they would certainly have said: Why have not its communications been made clear? What! a foreign (tongue) and an Arabian! Say: It is to those who believe a guidance and a healing; and (as for) those who do not believe, there is a heaviness in their ears and it is obscure to them; these shall be called to from a far-off place. |
| Pickthall: | And if We had appointed it a Lecture in a foreign tongue they would assuredly have said: If only its verses were expounded (so that we might understand)? What! A foreign tongue and an Arab? - Say unto them (O Muhammad): For those who believe it is a guidance and a healing; and as for those who disbelieve, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. Such are called to from afar. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And if We had sent this as a Qur'an in a foreign language (other than Arabic), they would have said: "Why are not its verses explained in detail (in our language)? What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (the Messenger) an Arab?" Say: "It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing. And as for those who disbelieve, there is heaviness (deafness) in their ears, and it (the Qur'an) is blindness for them. They are those who are called from a place far away (so they neither listen nor understand)." |
| French: | Si Nous en avions fait un Coran en une langue autre que l'arabe, ils auraient dit: «Pourquoi ses versets n'ont-ils pas été exposés clairement? quoi? Un [Coran] non-arabe et [un Messager] arabe?» Dis: «Pour ceux qui croient, il est une guidée et une guérison». Et quant à ceux qui ne croient pas, il y a une surdité dans leurs oreilles et ils sont frappés d'aveuglement en ce qui le concerne; ceux-là sont appelés d'un endroit lointain. |
| Spanish: | Si hubiéramos hecho de ella un Corán no árabe, habrían dicho: «¿Por qué no se han explicado detalladamente sus aleyas? ¿No árabe y árabe?» Di: «Es dirección y curación para quienes creen. Quienes, en cambio, no creen son duros de oído y, ante él, padecen ceguera. Es como si se les llamara desde lejos». |
| Indonesian: | Dan jikalau Kami jadikan Al Qur'an itu suatu bacaan dalam bahasa selain bahasa Arab tentulah mereka mengatakan: "Mengapa tidak dijelaskan ayat-ayatnya?". Apakah (patut Al Qur'an) dalam bahasa asing, sedang (rasul adalah orang) Arab? Katakanlah: "Al Qur'an itu adalah petunjuk dan penawar bagi orang-orang yang beriman. Dan orang-orang yang tidak beriman pada telinga mereka ada sumbatan, sedang Al Qur'an itu suatu kegelapan bagi mereka . Mereka itu adalah (seperti) orang-orang yang dipanggil dari tempat yang jauh".

| Malay:: | Dan kalaulah Al-Quran itu Kami jadikan (bacaan) dalam bahasa asing, tentulah mereka akan berkata: Mengapa tidak dijelaskan ayat-ayatnya (dalam bahasa yang kami fahami)? Patutkah Kitab itu berbahasa asing sedang Rasul yang membawanya berbangsa Arab? Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Al-Quran itu, menjadi (cahaya) petunjuk serta penawar bagi orang-orang yang beriman dan sebaliknya orang-orang yang tidak beriman, (AL-Quran itu) menjadi sebagai satu penyakit yang menyumbat telinga mereka (bukan penawar) dan ia juga merupakan gelap-gelita yang menimpa (pandangan) mereka (bukan cahaya yang menerangi). Mereka itu (dengan perbuatan melarikan diri dari ajaran Al-Quran, tidak ubahnya seperti) orang-orang yang diseru dari tempat yang jauh (masakan mereka dapat mendengar dengan betul atau melihat dengan nyata).

| German: | Hätten Wir ihn zu einem fremdsprachigen Qur'an gemacht, hätten sie sicherlich gesagt: "Wären doch seine Zeichen ausführlich dargelegt worden! Wie, ein fremdsprachiger (Qur'an) und ein Araber?" Sag: Er ist für diejenigen, die glauben, eine Rechtleitung und eine Heilung. Und diejenigen, die nicht glauben, haben Schwerhörigkeit in ihren Ohren, und er ist für sie (wie) Blindheit. Diese sind, als würde ihnen von einem fernen Ort aus zugerufen. |

| 45. | وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ ۗ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ |
| Transliteration: | Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba faikhtulifa feehi walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laqudiya baynahum wainnahum lafee shakkin minhu mureebin |
| Yusuf Ali: | We certainly gave Moses the Book aforetime: but disputes arose therein. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (their differences) would have been settled between them: but they remained in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon. |
| Shakir: | And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, but it has been differed about, and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, judgment would certainly have been given between them; and most surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it. |
| Pickthall: | And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, but there hath been dispute concerning it; and but for a Word that had already gone forth from thy Lord, it would ere now have been judged between them; but lo! they are in hopeless doubt concerning it. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, but dispute arose therein. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, (the torment would have overtaken them) and the matter would have been settled between them. But truly, they are in grave doubt thereto (i.e. about the Qur'an). [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi]. |
| French: | Nous avons effectivement donné à Moïse le Livre. Puis, il y eut controverse là-dessus. Et si ce n'était une parole préalable de ton Seigneur, on aurait certainement tranché entre eux. Ils sont vraiment, à son sujet, dans un doute troublant. |
| Spanish: | Ya dimos a Moisés la Escritura. Y discreparon acerca de ella. Y, si no llega a ser por una palabra previa de tu Señor, se habría decidido entre ellos. Dudan seriamente de ella. |
| Indonesian: | Dan sesungguhnya telah Kami berikan kepada Musa Taurat lalu diperselisihkan tentang Taurat itu. Kalau tidak ada keputusan yang telah terdahulu dari Tuhanmu, tentulah orang-orang kafir itu sudah dibinasakan. Dan sesungguhnya mereka terhadap Al Qur'an benar-benar dalam keragu-raguan yang membingungkan.

| Malay:: | Dan (janganlah engkau merasa kecewa wahai Muhammad tentang keingkaran kaummu, kerana) demi sesungguhnya! Kami telah memberi kepada Nabi Musa Kitab Taurat, lalu berlaku pertentangan mengenainya dan kalaulah tidak kerana telah terdahulu kalimah ketetapan dari Tuhanmu (untuk menangguhkan hukuman hingga ke suatu masa yang tertentu), tentulah dijatuhkan hukuman azab dengan serta merta kepada mereka. Dan sesungguhnya mereka (kaummu) masih menaruh syak yang meragukan tentang (kebenaran Al-Quran) itu.

| German: | Und Wir gaben bereits Musa die Schrift, doch wurde man darüber uneinig. Und wenn es nicht ein früher ergangenes Wort von deinem Herrn gegeben hätte, so wäre zwischen ihnen wahrlich entschieden worden. Und sie sind darüber fürwahr in starkem Zweifel. |

| 46. | مَّنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۗ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ |
| Transliteration: | Man AAamila salihan falinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha wama rabbuka bithallamin lilAAabeedi |
| Yusuf Ali: | Whoever works righteousness benefits his own soul; whoever works evil, it is against his own soul: nor is thy Lord ever unjust (in the least) to His Servants. |
| Shakir: | Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it; and your Lord is not in the least unjust to the servants. |
| Pickthall: | Whoso doeth right it is for his soul, and whoso doeth wrong it is against it. And thy Lord is not at all a tyrant to His slaves. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Whosoever does righteous good deed, it is for (the benefit of) his ownself; and whosoever does evil, it is against his ownself. And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves. |

| Indonesian: | Barangsiapa yang mengerjakan amal yang saleh maka (pahalanya) untuk dirinya sendiri dan barangsiapa yang berbuat jahat maka (dosanya) atas dirinya sendiri; dan sekali-kali tidaklah Tuhanmu menganiaya hamba-hamba (Nya).

| Malay:: | Sesiapa yang mengerjakan amal soleh maka faedahnya akan terpulang kepada dirinya sendiri dan sesiapa yang berbuat kejahatan maka bahayanya akan menimpa dirinya sendiri dan Tuhanmu tidak sekali-kali berlaku zalim kepada hamba-hambaNya.

| German: | Wer rechtschaffen handelt, der (tut es) zu seinem eigenen Vorteil, und wer Böses tut, der (tut es) zu seinem eigenen Nachteil. Und dein Herr ist keiner, der den Dienern Unrecht zufügt. |

| 47. | ۞ إِلَيْهِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ ۚ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِن ثَمَرَاتٍ مِّنْ أَكْمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ ۚ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَائِي قَالُوا آذَنَّاكَ مَا مِنَّا مِن شَهِيدٍ |
| Transliteration: | Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu alssaAAati wama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamiha wama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illa biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shurakaee qaloo athannaka ma minna min shaheedin |
| Yusuf Ali: | To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), "Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?" They will say, "We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!" |
| Shakir: | To Him is referred the knowledge of the hour, and there come not forth any of the fruits from their coverings, nor does a female bear, nor does she give birth, but with His knowledge; and on the day when He shall call out to them, Where are (those whom you called) My associates? They shall say: We declare to Thee, none of us is a witness. |
| Pickthall: | Unto Him is referred (all) knowledge of the Hour. And no fruits burst forth from their sheaths, and no female carrieth or bringeth forth but with His knowledge. And on the day when He calleth unto them: Where are now My partners? they will say: We confess unto Thee, not one of us is a witness (for them). |
| Mohsin Khan: | To Him (Alone) is referred the knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive nor brings forth (young), except by His Knowledge. And on the Day when He will call unto them (polytheists) (saying): "Where are My (so-called) partners (whom you did invent)?" They will say: "We inform You that none of us bears witness to it (that they are Your partners)!" |
| French: | A Lui revient la connaissance de l'Heure. Aucun fruit ne sort de son enveloppe, aucune femelle ne conçoit ni ne met bas sans qu'Il n'en ait connaissance. Et le jour où Il les appellera: «Où sont Mes associés?», ils diront: «Nous Te déclarons qu'il n'y a point de témoin parmi nous»! |
| Spanish: | A Él se le remite el conocimiento de la Hora. Ningún fruto deja su cubierta, ninguna hembra concibe o pare sin que Él lo sepa. Cuando Él les llame: «¿Dónde están Mis asociados?». dirán: «Te aseguramos que ninguno de nosotros los ha visto». |
| Indonesian: | Kepada-Nyalah dikembalikan pengetahuan tentang hari kiamat . Dan tidak ada buah-buahan keluar dari kelopaknya dan tidak seorang perempuanpun mengandung dan tidak (pula) melahirkan, melainkan dengan sepengetahuan-Nya. Pada hari Tuhan memanggil mereka: "Di manakah sekutu-sekutu-Ku itu?" ; mereka menjawab: "Kami nyatakan kepada Engkau bahwa tidak ada seorangpun di antara kami yang memberi kesaksian (bahwa Engkau punya sekutu)".

| Malay:: | Kepada (ilmu pengetahuan) Allah jualah kembalinya soal mengetahui masa datangnya hari kiamat dan (demikianlah tiap-tiap apa yang akan berlaku, kerana) sebiji buah (umpamanya) tidak akan keluar dari kelopaknya dan seorang ibu tidak akan mengandung dan tidak akan melahirkan anak, melainkan (pada masa dan keadaan yang betul tepat) dengan pengetahuan Allah dan pada hari Tuhan menyeru mereka (yang musyrik, dengan bertanya kepada mereka): Mana dia makhluk-makhluk yang kamu sifatkan menjadi sekutu-sekutuKu? Mereka menjawab: Kami mengakui kepadaMu (wahai Tuhan kami), bahawa tidak ada di antara kami seorang pun yang mahu menjadi saksi (kerana anggapan kami dahulu telah nyata salahnya)!

| German: | Ihm ist das Wissen um die Stunde vorbehalten. Keine Früchte kommen aus ihren Hüllen hervor und kein weibliches Wesen wird schwanger und kommt nieder, außer mit Seinem Wissen. Und am Tag, da Er ihnen zurufen wird: "Wo sind denn Meine Teilhaber?", werden sie sagen: "Wir geben Dir zur Antwort': Es gibt unter uns keinen Zeugen (hierfür)." |

| 48. | وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَدْعُونَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَظَنُّوا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍ |
| Transliteration: | Wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yadAAoona min qablu wathannoo ma lahum min maheesin |
| Yusuf Ali: | The (deities) they used to invoke aforetime will leave them in the lurch, and they will perceive that they have no way of escape. |
| Shakir: | And away from them shall go what they called upon before, and they shall know for certain that there is no escape for them. |
| Pickthall: | And those to whom they used to cry of old have failed them, and they perceive they have no place of refuge. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And those whom they used to invoke before (in this world) shall disappear from them, and they will perceive that they have no place of refuge (from Allah's punishment). |
| French: | Et ce qu'auparavant ils invoquaient les délaissera; et ils réaliseront qu'ils n'ont point d'échappatoire. |
| Spanish: | Lo que antes invocaban les abandonará. Creerán no tener escape. |
| Indonesian: | Dan lenyaplah dari mereka apa yang selalu mereka sembah dahulu, dan mereka yakin bahwa tidak ada bagi mereka sesuatu jalan keluarpun.

| Malay:: | Dan (pada saat itu) hilang lenyaplah dari mereka apa yang mereka sembah dahulu (yang diharapkan pertolongannya) dan yakinlah mereka bahawa tidak ada sebarang jalan untuk mereka melepaskan diri (dari azab seksa).

| German: | Und entschwunden wird ihnen sein, was sie zuvor anzurufen pflegten, und sie werden überzeugt sein, daß es für sie kein Entrinnen gibt. |

| 49. | لَّا يَسْأَمُ الْإِنسَانُ مِن دُعَاءِ الْخَيْرِ وَإِن مَّسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَئُوسٌ قَنُوطٌ |
| Transliteration: | La yasamu alinsanu min duAAai alkhayri wain massahu alshsharru fayaoosun qanootun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair. |
| Shakir: | Man is never tired of praying for good, and if evil touch him, then he is despairing, hopeless. |
| Pickthall: | Man tireth not of praying for good, and if ill toucheth him, then he is disheartened, desperate. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Man (the disbeliever) does not get tired of asking good (things from Allah); but if an evil touches him, then he gives up all hope and is lost in despair. |
| French: | L'homme ne se lasse pas d'implorer le bien. Si le mal le touche, le voilà désespéré, désemparé. |
| Spanish: | No se cansa el hombre de pedir el bien, pero, si sufre un mal, se desanima, se desespera. |
| Indonesian: | Manusia tidak jemu memohon kebaikan, dan jika mereka ditimpa malapetaka dia menjadi putus asa lagi putus harapan.

| Malay:: | Manusia tidak jemu-jemu memohon kebaikan dan kalau dia ditimpa kesusahan maka menjadilah dia seorang yang sangat berputus asa, lagi sangat nyata kesan putus harapnya (dari rahmat pertolongan Allah).

| German: | Nicht überdrüssig wird der Mensch, um das Gute zu beten, doch wenn ihm Schlechtes widerfährt, dann ist er sehr verzweifelt und verliert alle Hoffnung. |

| 50. | وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا مِن بَعْدِ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَـٰذَا لِي وَمَا أَظُنُّ السَّاعَةَ قَائِمَةً وَلَئِن رُّجِعْتُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي إِنَّ لِي عِندَهُ لَلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ |
| Transliteration: | Walain athaqnahu rahmatan minna min baAAdi darraa massathu layaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna lee AAindahu lalhusna falanunabbianna allatheena kafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabin ghaleethin |
| Yusuf Ali: | When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty. |
| Shakir: | And if We make him taste mercy from Us after distress that has touched him, he would most certainly say: This is of me, and I do not think the hour will come to pass, and if I am sent back to my Lord, I shall have with Him sure good; but We will most certainly inform those who disbelieved of what they did, and We will most certainly make them taste of hard chastisement. |
| Pickthall: | And verily, if We cause him to taste mercy after some hurt that hath touched him, he will say: This is my own; and I deem not that the Hour will ever rise, and if I am brought back to my Lord, I surely shall be better off with Him - But We verily shall tell those who disbelieve (all) that they did, and We verily shall make them taste hard punishment. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And truly, if We give him a taste of mercy from Us, after some adversity (severe poverty or disease, etc.) has touched him, he is sure to say: "This is due to my (merit); I think not that the Hour will be established. But if I am brought back to my Lord, surely, there will be for me the best (wealth) with Him. Then, We verily, will show to the disbelievers what they have done, and We shall make them taste a severe torment. |
| French: | Et si nous lui faisons goûter une miséricorde de Notre part, après qu'une détresse l'ait touché, il dit certainement: «Cela m'est dû! Et je ne pense pas que l'Heure se lèvera [un jour]. Et si je suis ramené vers mon Seigneur, je trouverai, près de Lui, la plus belle part». Nous informerons ceux qui ont mécru de ce qu'ils ont fait et Nous leur ferons sûrement goûter à un dur châtiment. |
| Spanish: | Si le hacemos gustar una misericordia venida de Nosotros, luego de haber sufrido una desgracia, dirá de seguro: «Esto es algo que se me debe. Y no creo que ocurra la Hora. Pero, si se me devolviera a mi Señor, tendría junto a Él lo mejor». Ya informaremos a los infieles, sí, de lo que hacían y les haremos gustar, sí, un duro castigo. |
| Indonesian: | Dan jika Kami merasakan kepadanya sesuatu rahmat dari Kami sesudah dia ditimpa kesusahan, pastilah dia berkata: "Ini adalah hakku, dan aku tidak yakin bahwa hari kiamat itu akan datang. Dan jika aku dikembalikan kepada Tuhanku maka sesungguhnya aku akan memperoleh kebaikan pada sisi-Nya". Maka Kami benar-benar akan memberitakan kepada orang-orang kafir apa yang telah mereka kerjakan dan akan Kami rasakan kepada mereka azab yang keras.

| Malay:: | Dan demi sesungguhnya! Jika Kami beri dia merasai sesuatu rahmat dari Kami sesudah dia ditimpa sesuatu kesusahan, berkatalah dia (dengan sikap tidak bersyukur): Ini ialah hakku (hasil usahaku semata-mata) dan aku tidak fikir bahawa hari kiamat akan berlaku dan kalaulah aku dikembalikan kepada Tuhanku (sekalipun), sudah tentu aku akan beroleh kebaikan di sisiNya (seperti kesenanganku sekarang ini)! Maka demi sesungguhnya! Kami akan memberi tahu kepada orang-orang yang kufur ingkar itu akan keburukan apa yang mereka telah kerjakan dan Kami akan beri mereka merasai azab seksa yang seberat-beratnya.

| German: | Und wenn Wir ihn Barmherzigkeit von Uns kosten lassen nach Leid, das ihm widerfuhr, sagt er ganz gewiß: "Das steht mir zu. Und ich glaube nicht, daß die Stunde sich einstellen wird. Und wenn ich zu meinem Herrn zurückgebracht werde, werde ich sicherlich das Beste bei Ihm erhalten." Aber Wir werden denjenigen, die ungläubig sind, ganz gewiß kundtun, was sie getan haben; und Wir werden sie ganz gewiß von harter Strafe kosten lassen. |

| 51. | وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاءٍ عَرِيضٍ |
| Transliteration: | Waitha anAAamna AAala alinsani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi waitha massahu alshsharru fathoo duAAain AAareedin |
| Yusuf Ali: | When We bestow favours on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead of coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer! |
| Shakir: | And when We show favor to man, he turns aside and withdraws himself; and when evil touches him, he makes lengthy supplications. |

| Indonesian: | Dan apabila Kami memberikan ni'mat kepada manusia, ia berpaling dan menjauhkan diri; tetapi apabila ia ditimpa malapetaka maka ia banyak berdo'a.

| Malay:: | Dan apabila Kami kurniakan nikmat kepada manusia, berpalinglah dia serta menjauhkan diri (dari bersyukur) dan apabila dia ditimpa kesusahan, maka ia berdoa merayu dengan panjang lebar.

| German: | Und wenn Wir dem Menschen Gunst erweisen, wendet er sich ab und entfernt sich beiseite. Wenn ihm aber Schlechtes widerfährt, dann verfällt er in ausgedehntes Bittgebet. |

| 52. | قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُم بِهِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ |
| Transliteration: | Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahi thumma kafartum bihi man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqin baAAeedin |
| Yusuf Ali: | Say: "See ye if the (Revelation) is (really) from Allah, and yet do ye reject it? Who is more astray than one who is in a schism far (from any purpose)?" |
| Shakir: | Say: Tell me if it is from Allah; then you disbelieve in it, who is in greater error than he who is in a prolonged opposition? |
| Pickthall: | Bethink you: If it is from Allah and ye reject it - Who is further astray than one who is at open feud (with Allah)? |
| Mohsin Khan: | Say: "Tell me, if it (the Qur'an) is from Allah, and you disbelieve in it? Who is more astray than one who is in opposition far away (from Allah's Right Path and His obedience). |
| French: | Dis: «Voyez-vous? Si ceci (le Coran) émane d'Allah et qu'ensuite vous le reniez; qui se trouvera plus égaré que celui qui s'éloigne dans la dissidence?» |
| Spanish: | Di: «¿Qué os parece? Si procede de Alá y vosotros, luego, no creéis en él, ¿hay alguien que esté más extraviado que quien se opone tan marcadamente?» |
| Indonesian: | Katakanlah: "Bagaimana pendapatmu jika (Al Qur'an) itu datang dari sisi Allah, kemudian kamu mengingkarinya. Siapakah yang lebih sesat daripada orang yang selalu berada dalam penyimpangan yang jauh?"

| Malay:: | Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Sudahkah nampak baiknya keadaan kamu jika Al-Quran ini (yang datangnya) dari Allah kemudian kamu mengingkarinya? Siapakah yang lebih sesat daripada orang yang tetap berada dalam perbalahan dan pertentangan, yang menyimpang jauh dari kebenaran?

| German: | Sag: Was meint ihr, wenn er doch von Allah stammt und ihr ihn hierauf verleugnet? Wer ist weiter abgeirrt als jemand, der sich in tiefem Widerstreit befindet? |

| 53. | سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ |
| Transliteration: | Sanureehim ayatina fee alafaqi wafee anfusihim hatta yatabayyana lahum annahu alhaqqu awalam yakfi birabbika annahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things? |
| Shakir: | We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things? |
| Pickthall: | We shall show them Our portents on the horizons and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things? |
| Mohsin Khan: | We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur'an) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things? |
| French: | Nous leur montrerons Nos signes dans l'univers et en eux-mêmes, jusqu'à ce qu'il leur devienne évident que c'est cela (le Coran), la vérité. Ne suffit-il pas que ton Seigneur soit témoin de toute chose? |
| Spanish: | Les mostraremos Nuestros signos fuera y dentro de sí mismos hasta que vean claramente que es la Verdad. ¿Es que no basta que tu Señor sea testigo de todo? |
| Indonesian: | Kami akan memperlihatkan kepada mereka tanda-tanda (kekuasaan) Kami di segenap ufuk dan pada diri mereka sendiri, sehingga jelaslah bagi mereka bahwa Al Qur'an itu adalah benar. Dan apakah Tuhanmu tidak cukup (bagi kamu) bahwa sesungguhnya Dia menyaksikan segala sesuatu?

| Malay:: | Kami akan perlihatkan kepada mereka tanda-tanda kekuasaan Kami di merata-rata tempat (dalam alam yang terbentang luas ini) dan pada diri mereka sendiri, sehingga ternyata jelas kepada mereka bahawa Al-Quran adalah benar. Belumkah ternyata kepada mereka kebenaran itu dan belumkah cukup (bagi mereka) bahawa Tuhanmu mengetahui dan menyaksikan tiap-tiap sesuatu?

| German: | Wir werden ihnen Unsere Zeichen am Gesichtskreis" und in ihnen selbst zeigen, bis es ihnen klar wird, daß es die Wahrheit ist. Genügt es denn nicht, daß dein Herr über alles Zeuge ist? |

| 54. | أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِّن لِّقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّحِيطٌ |
| Transliteration: | Ala innahum fee miryatin min liqai rabbihim ala innahu bikulli shayin muheetun |
| Yusuf Ali: | Ah indeed! Are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? Ah indeed! It is He that doth encompass all things! |
| Shakir: | Now surely they are in doubt as to the meeting of their Lord; now surely He encompasses all things. |
| Pickthall: | How! Are they still in doubt about the meeting with their Lord? Lo! Is not He surrounding all things? |
| Mohsin Khan: | Verily they are in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? (i.e. Resurrection after their death, and their return to their Lord). Verily! He it is Who is surrounding all things! |
| French: | Ils sont dans le doute, n'est-ce pas, au sujet de la rencontre de leur Seigneur? C'est Lui certes qui embrasse toute chose (par Sa science et Sa puissance). |
| Spanish: | Pues ¿no dudan del encuentro de su Señor? Pues ¿no lo abarca Él todo? |
| Indonesian: | Ingatlah bahwa sesungguhnya mereka adalah dalam keraguan tentang pertemuan dengan Tuhan mereka. Ingatlah, bahwa sesungguhnya Dia Maha Meliputi segala sesuatu.

| Malay:: | Ingatlah! Sesungguhnya mereka (yang kufur ingkar) sentiasa berada di dalam keadaan syak (ragu-ragu) tentang pertemuan dengan Tuhan mereka. Ingatlah! Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Meliputi pengetahuanNya akan tiap-tiap sesuatu.

| German: | Sicherlich, sie sind im Zweifel über die Begegnung mit ihrem Herrn. Sicherlich, Er umfaßt doch alles. |
