| 45. | وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَا أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ وَالْعَيْنَ بِالْعَيْنِ وَالْأَنفَ بِالْأَنفِ وَالْأُذُنَ بِالْأُذُنِ وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ وَالْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wakatabna AAalayhim feeha anna alnnafsa bialnnafsi waalAAayna bialAAayni waalanfa bialanfi waalothuna bialothuni waalssinna bialssinni waaljurooha qisasun faman tasaddaqa bihi fahuwa kaffaratun lahu waman lam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faolaika humu alththalimoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers. |
| Shakir: | And We prescribed to them in it that life is for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth, and (that there is) reprisal in wounds; but he who foregoes it, it shall be an expiation for him; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unjust. |
| Pickthall: | And We prescribed for them therein: The life for the life, and the eye for the eye, and the nose for the nose, and the ear for the ear, and the tooth for the tooth, and for wounds retaliation. But whoso forgoeth it (in the way of charity) it shall be expiation for him. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are wrong-doers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it shall be for him an expiation. And whosoever does not judge by that which Allah has revealed, such are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers - of a lesser degree). |
| Indonesian: | Dan kami telah tetapkan terhadap mereka di dalamnya (At Taurat) bahwasanya jiwa (dibalas) dengan jiwa, mata dengan mata, hidung dengan hidung, telinga dengan telinga, gigi dengan gigi, dan luka-luka (pun) ada kisasnya. Barangsiapa yang melepaskan (hak kisas)nya, maka melepaskan hak itu (menjadi) penebus dosa baginya. Barangsiapa tidak memutuskan perkara menurut apa yang diturunkan Allah, maka mereka itu adalah orang-orang yang zalim.

| Malay:: | Dan kami telah tetapkan atas mereka di dalam kitab Taurat itu, bahawa jiwa dibalas dengan jiwa dan mata dibalas dengan mata dan hidung dibalas dengan hidung, dan telinga dibalas dengan telinga dan gigi dibalas dengan gigi dan luka-luka hendaklah dibalas (seimbang). Tetapi sesiapa yang melepaskan hak membalasnya, maka menjadilah ia penebus dosa baginya dan sesiapa yang tidak menghukum dengan apa yang telah diturunkan Allah, maka mereka itulah orang-orang yang zalim.

| 46. | وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِم بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ ۖ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqaffayna AAala atharihim biAAeesa ibni maryama musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alttawrati waataynahu alinjeela feehi hudan wanoorun wamusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alttawrati wahudan wamawAAithatan lilmuttaqeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. |
| Shakir: | And We sent after them in their footsteps Isa, son of Marium, verifying what was before him of the Taurat and We gave him the Injeel in which was guidance and light, and verifying what was before it of Taurat and a guidance and an admonition for those who guard (against evil). |
| Pickthall: | And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil). |
| Mohsin Khan: | And in their footsteps, We sent 'Îsa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), confirming the Taurat (Torah) that had come before him, and We gave him the Injeel (Gospel), in which was guidance and light and confirmation of the Taurat (Torah) that had come before it, a guidance and an admonition for Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2). |
| Indonesian: | Dan Kami iringkan jejak mereka (nabi-nabi Bani Israil) dengan 'Isa putera Maryam, membenarkan kitab yang sebelumnya, yaitu: Taurat. Dan Kami telah memberikan kepadanya Kitab Injil sedang di dalamnya (ada) petunjuk dan cahaya (yang menerangi), dan membenarkan kitab yang sebelumnya, yaitu Kitab Taurat. Dan menjadi petunjuk serta pengajaran untuk orang-orang yang bertakwa.

| Malay:: | Dan Kami utuskan Nabi Isa Ibni Mariam mengikuti jejak langkah mereka (Nabi-nabi Bani Israil), untuk membenarkan Kitab Taurat yang diturunkan sebelumnya dan Kami telah berikan kepadanya Kitab Injil, yang mengandungi petunjuk hidayat dan cahaya yang menerangi, sambil mengesahkan benarnya apa yang telah ada di hadapannya dari Kitab Taurat, serta menjadi petunjuk dan nasihat pengajaran bagi orang-orang yang (hendak) bertakwa.

| 47. | وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْإِنجِيلِ بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Walyahkum ahlu alinjeeli bima anzala Allahu feehi waman lam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faolaika humu alfasiqoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel. |
| Shakir: | And the followers of the Injeel should have judged by what Allah revealed in it; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the transgressors. |
| Pickthall: | Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are evil-livers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Let the people of the Injeel (Gospel) judge by what Allah has revealed therein. And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed (then) such (people) are the Fasiqun [the rebellious i.e. disobedient (of a lesser degree)] to Allah. |
| Indonesian: | Dan hendaklah orang-orang pengikut Injil, memutuskan perkara menurut apa yang diturunkan Allah di dalamnya Barangsiapa tidak memutuskan perkara menurut apa yang diturunkan Allah, maka mereka itu adalah orang-orang yang fasik.

| Malay:: | Dan hendaklah Ahli Kitab Injil menghukum dengan apa yang telah diturunkan oleh Allah di dalamnya dan sesiapa yang tidak menghukum dengan apa yang telah diturunkan oleh Allah, maka mereka itulah orang-orang yang fasik.

| 48. | وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ۚ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَا آتَاكُمْ ۖ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ ۚ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waanzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqi musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alkitabi wamuhayminan AAalayhi faohkum baynahum bima anzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum AAamma jaaka mina alhaqqi likullin jaAAalna minkum shirAAatan waminhajan walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalakum ommatan wahidatan walakin liyabluwakum fee ma atakum faistabiqoo alkhayrati ila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbiokum bima kuntum feehi takhtalifoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute; |
| Shakir: | And We have revealed to you the Book with the truth, verifying what is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires (to turn away) from the truth that has come to you; for every one of you did We appoint a law and a way, and if Allah had pleased He would have made you (all) a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you, therefore strive with one another to hasten to virtuous deeds; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will let you know that in which you differed; |
| Pickthall: | And unto thee have We revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever Scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which hath come unto thee. For each We have appointed a divine law and a traced-out way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as ye are). So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Book (this Qur'an) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Muhaymin (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures) . So judge among them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so compete in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ. |
| Indonesian: | Dan Kami telah turunkan kepadamu Al Qur'an dengan membawa kebenaran, membenarkan apa yang sebelumnya, yaitu kitab-kitab (yang diturunkan sebelumnya) dan batu ujian terhadap kitab-kitab yang lain itu; maka putuskanlah perkara mereka menurut apa yang Allah turunkan dan janganlah kamu mengikuti hawa nafsu mereka dengan meninggalkan kebenaran yang telah datang kepadamu. Untuk tiap-tiap umat di antara kamu. Kami berikan aturan dan jalan yang terang. Sekiranya Allah menghendaki, niscaya kamu dijadikan-Nya satu umat (saja), tetapi Allah hendak menguji kamu terhadap pemberian-Nya kepadamu, maka berlomba-lombalah berbuat kebajikan. Hanya kepada Allah-lah kembali kamu semuanya, lalu diberitahukan-Nya kepadamu apa yang telah kamu perselisihkan itu,

| Malay:: | Dan Kami turunkan kepadamu (wahai Muhammad) Kitab (Al-Quran) dengan membawa kebenaran, untuk mengesahkan benarnya Kitab-kitab Suci yang telah diturunkan sebelumnya dan untuk memelihara serta mengawasinya. Maka jalankanlah hukum di antara mereka (Ahli Kitab) itu dengan apa yang telah diturunkan oleh Allah (kepadamu) dan janganlah engkau mengikut kehendak hawa nafsu mereka (dengan menyeleweng) dari apa yang telah datang kepadamu dari kebenaran. Bagi tiap-tiap umat yang ada di antara kamu, Kami jadikan (tetapkan) suatu Syariat dan jalan agama (yang wajib diikuti oleh masing-masing) dan kalau Allah menghendaki nescaya Dia menjadikan kamu satu umat (yang bersatu dalam agama yang satu), tetapi Dia hendak menguji kamu (dalam menjalankan) apa yang telah disampaikan kepada kamu. Oleh itu berlumba-lumbalah kamu membuat kebaikan (beriman dan beramal soleh). Kepada Allah jualah tempat kembali kamu semuanya, maka Dia akan memberitahu kamu apa yang kamu berselisihan padanya.
