| 1 | وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 1: | Waalnnajmi itha hawa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 1: | By the Star when it goes down,-
|
| |
|
| |
| 2 | مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 2: | Ma dalla sahibukum wama ghawa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 2: | Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.
|
| |
|
| |
| 3 | وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 3: | Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 3: | Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
|
| |
|
| |
| 4 | إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 4: | In huwa illa wahyun yooha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 4: | It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:
|
| |
|
| |
| 5 | عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 5: | AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 5: | He was taught by one Mighty in Power,
|
| |
|
| |
| 6 | ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 6: | Thoo mirratin faistawa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 6: | Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);
|
| |
|
| |
| 7 | وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 7: | Wahuwa bialofuqi alaAAla
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 7: | While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
|
| |
|
| |
| 8 | ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 8: | Thumma dana fatadalla
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 8: | Then he approached and came closer,
|
| |
|
| |
| 9 | فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 9: | Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 9: | And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;
|
| |
|
| |
| 10 | فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 10: | Faawha ila AAabdihi ma awha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 10: | So did ((Allah)) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
|
| |
|
| |
| 11 | مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 11: | Ma kathaba alfuadu ma raa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 11: | The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
|
| |
|
| |
| 12 | أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 12: | Afatumaroonahu AAala ma yara
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 12: | Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
|
| |
|
| |
| 13 | وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 13: | Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 13: | For indeed he saw him at a second descent,
|
| |
|
| |
| 14 | عِندَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنتَهَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 14: | AAinda sidrati almuntaha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 14: | Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
|
| |
|
| |
| 15 | عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 15: | AAindaha jannatu almawa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 15: | Near it is the Garden of Abode.
|
| |
|
| |
| 16 | إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 16: | Ith yaghsha alssidrata ma yaghsha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 16: | Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
|
| |
|
| |
| 17 | مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 17: | Ma zagha albasaru wama tagha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 17: | (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!
|
| |
|
| |
| 18 | لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 18: | Laqad raa min ayati rabbihi alkubra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 18: | For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!
|
| |
|
| |
| 19 | أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 19: | Afaraaytumu allata waalAAuzza
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 19: | Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza,
|
| |
|
| |
| 20 | وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 20: | Wamanata alththalithata alokhra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 20: | And another, the third (goddess), Manat?
|
| |
|
| |
| 21 | أَلَكُمُ الذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ الْأُنثَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 21: | Alakumu alththakaru walahu alontha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 21: | What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female?
|
| |
|
| |
| 22 | تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 22: | Tilka ithan qismatun deeza
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 22: | Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!
|
| |
|
| |
| 23 | إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا أَسْمَاءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَانٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى الْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ الْهُدَىٰ |

| | Transliteration 23: | In hiya illa asmaon sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma anzala Allahu biha min sultanin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wama tahwa alanfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 23: | These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!
|
| |
|
| |
| 24 | أَمْ لِلْإِنسَانِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 24: | Am lilinsani ma tamanna
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 24: | Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after?
|
| |
|
| |
| 25 | فَلِلَّهِ الْآخِرَةُ وَالْأُولَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 25: | Falillahi alakhiratu waaloola
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 25: | But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong.
|
| |
|
| |
| 26 | ۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لَا تُغْنِي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 26: | Wakam min malakin fee alssamawati la tughnee shafaAAatuhum shayan illa min baAAdi an yathana Allahu liman yashao wayarda
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 26: | How many-so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.
|
| |
|
| |
| 27 | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ الْأُنثَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 27: | Inna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati layusammoona almalaikata tasmiyata alontha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 27: | Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.
|
| |
|
| |
| 28 | وَمَا لَهُم بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ شَيْئًا |
| |
| | Transliteration 28: | Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wainna alththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqi shayan
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 28: | But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.
|
| |
|
| |
| 29 | فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا |
| |
| | Transliteration 29: | FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAan thikrina walam yurid illa alhayata alddunya
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 29: | Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.
|
| |
|
| |
| 30 | ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 30: | Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmi inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 30: | That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily thy Lord knoweth best those who stray from His Path, and He knoweth best those who receive guidance.
|
| |
|
| |
| 31 | وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى |
| |
| | Transliteration 31: | Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi liyajziya allatheena asaoo bima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoo bialhusna
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 31: | Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.
|
| |
|
| |
| 32 | الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَاسِعُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ |

| | Transliteration 32: | Allatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha illa allamama inna rabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ith anshaakum mina alardi waith antum ajinnatun fee butooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakum huwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 32: | Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.

|
| |
| 33 | أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 33: | Afaraayta allathee tawalla
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 33: | Seest thou one who turns back,
|
| |
|
| |
| 34 | وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 34: | WaaAAta qaleelan waakda
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 34: | Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?
|
| |
|
| |
| 35 | أَعِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 35: | aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 35: | What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?
|
| |
|
| |
| 36 | أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 36: | Am lam yunabba bima fee suhufi moosa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 36: | Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses-
|
| |
|
| |
| 37 | وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 37: | Waibraheema allathee waffa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 37: | And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?-
|
| |
|
| |
| 38 | أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 38: | Alla taziru waziratun wizra okhra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 38: | Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;
|
| |
|
| |
| 39 | وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 39: | Waan laysa lilinsani illa ma saAAa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 39: | That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
|
| |
|
| |
| 40 | وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 40: | Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 40: | That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight:
|
| |
|
| |
| 41 | ثُمَّ يُجْزَاهُ الْجَزَاءَ الْأَوْفَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 41: | Thumma yujzahu aljazaa alawfa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 41: | Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete;
|
| |
|
| |
| 42 | وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الْمُنتَهَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 42: | Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 42: | That to thy Lord is the final Goal;
|
| |
|
| |
| 43 | وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 43: | Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 43: | That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears;
|
| |
|
| |
| 44 | وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا |
| |
| | Transliteration 44: | Waannahu huwa amata waahya
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 44: | That it is He Who granteth Death and Life;
|
| |
|
| |
| 45 | وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 45: | Waannahu khalaqa alzzawjayni alththakara waalontha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 45: | That He did create in pairs,- male and female,
|
| |
|
| |
| 46 | مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 46: | Min nutfatin itha tumna
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 46: | From a seed when lodged (in its place);
|
| |
|
| |
| 47 | وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 47: | Waanna AAalayhi alnnashata alokhra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 47: | That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead);
|
| |
|
| |
| 48 | وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 48: | Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 48: | That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction;
|
| |
|
| |
| 49 | وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعْرَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 49: | Waannahu huwa rabbu alshshiAAra
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 49: | That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star);
|
| |
|
| |
| 50 | وَأَنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا الْأُولَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 50: | Waannahu ahlaka AAadan aloola
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 50: | And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),
|
| |
|
| |
| 51 | وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 51: | Wathamooda fama abqa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 51: | And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.
|
| |
|
| |
| 52 | وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 52: | Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo hum athlama waatgha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 52: | And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors,
|
| |
|
| |
| 53 | وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 53: | Waalmutafikata ahwa
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 53: | And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah).
|
| |
|
| |
| 54 | فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 54: | Faghashshaha ma ghashsha
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 54: | So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up.
|
| |
|
| |
| 55 | فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 55: | Fabiayyi alai rabbika tatamara
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 55: | Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about?
|
| |
|
| |
| 56 | هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 56: | Hatha natheerun mina alnnuthuri aloola
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 56: | This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old!
|
| |
|
| |
| | |
| | Transliteration 57: | Azifati alazifatu
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 57: | The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh:
|
| |
|
| |
| 58 | لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ |
| |
| | Transliteration 58: | Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifatun
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 58: | No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare.
|
| |
|
| |
| 59 | أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 59: | Afamin hatha alhadeethi taAAjaboona
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 59: | Do ye then wonder at this recital?
|
| |
|
| |
| 60 | وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 60: | Watadhakoona wala tabkoona
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 60: | And will ye laugh and not weep,-
|
| |
|
| |
| | |
| | Transliteration 61: | Waantum samidoona
|
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 61: | Wasting your time in vanities?
|
| |
|
| |
| 62 | فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا ۩ |
| |
| | Transliteration 62: | Faosjudoo lillahi waoAAbudoo |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 62: | But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)!
