1  
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ
Transliteration 1: Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru
Yusuf Ali 1: The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.
Mohsin Khan: 1: The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).
Saheeh: 1: The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].
Urdu 1: قیامت قریب آ گئی اور چاند پھٹ گیا


2  
وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
Transliteration 2: Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun
Yusuf Ali 2: But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic."
Mohsin Khan: 2: And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."
Saheeh: 2: And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."
Urdu 2: اور اگر وہ کوئی معجزہ دیکھ لیں تو اس سے منہ موڑ لیں اور کہیں یہ تو ہمیشہ سے چلا آتا جادو ہے


3  
وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
Transliteration 3: Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun
Yusuf Ali 3: They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.
Mohsin Khan: 3: They belied (the Verses of Allah - this Qur'an), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled (according to the kind of deeds: good deeds will take their doers to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell).
Saheeh: 3: And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.
Urdu 3: اور انہوں نے جھٹلایا اور اپنی خواہشوں کی پیروی کی اور ہر بات کے لیے ایک وقت مقرر ہے


4  
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُم مِّنَ الْأَنبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
Transliteration 4: Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun
Yusuf Ali 4: There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them),
Mohsin Khan: 4: And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur'an) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),
Saheeh: 4: And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence -
Urdu 4: اور ان کے پاس وہ خبریں آ چکی ہیں جن میں کافی تنبیہ ہے


5  
حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ
Transliteration 5: Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru
Yusuf Ali 5: Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not.
Mohsin Khan: 5: Perfect wisdom (this Qur'an), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not.
Saheeh: 5: Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].
Urdu 5: اورپوری دانائی بھی ہے پر ان کو ڈرانے والوں سے فائدہ نہیں پہنچا


6  
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
Transliteration 6: Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin
Yusuf Ali 6: Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair,
Mohsin Khan: 6: So (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.
Saheeh: 6: So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,
Urdu 6: پس ان سے منہ موڑ لے جس دن پکارنے والا ایک نا پسند چیز کے لیے پکارے گا


7  
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
Transliteration 7: KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun
Yusuf Ali 7: They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad,
Mohsin Khan: 7: They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,
Saheeh: 7: Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,
Urdu 7: اپنی آنکھیں نیچے کیے ہوئے قبروں سے نکل پڑیں گے جیسے ٹڈیاں پھیل پڑی ہوں


8  
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
Transliteration 8: MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun
Yusuf Ali 8: Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say.
Mohsin Khan: 8: Hastening towards the caller. The disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."
Saheeh: 8: Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."
Urdu 8: بلانے والے کی طرف بھاگے جا رہے ہوں گے یہ کافر کہہ رہے ہوں گے یہ تو بڑا ہی سخت دن ہے


9  
 ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ
Transliteration 9: Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira
Yusuf Ali 9: Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out.
Mohsin Khan: 9: The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them. They rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.
Saheeh: 9: The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.
Urdu 9: ان سے پہلے قوم نوح نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا پس انہوں نے ہمارے بندے کو جھٹلایا اور کہا دیوانہ ہے اور اسے جھڑک دیا گیا


10  
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ
Transliteration 10: FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasir
Yusuf Ali 10: Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!"
Mohsin Khan: 10: Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"
Saheeh: 10: So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."
Urdu 10: پھر نوح نے اپنے رب کو پکارا کہ میں تو مغلوب ہو گیا تو میری مدد کر


11  
فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
Transliteration 11: Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirin
Yusuf Ali 11: So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth.
Mohsin Khan: 11: So We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring forth.
Saheeh: 11: Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down
Urdu 11: پھر ہم نے موسلا دھار پانی سے آسمان کے دروازے کھول دیے


12  
وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
Transliteration 12: Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira
Yusuf Ali 12: And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed.
Mohsin Khan: 12: And We caused springs to gush forth from the earth. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.
Saheeh: 12: And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.
Urdu 12: اور ہم نے زمین سے چشمے جاری کر دیے پھر جہاں تک پانی کا چڑھاؤ چڑھنا ٹھہر چکا تھاچڑھ آیا


13  
وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
Transliteration 13: Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin
Yusuf Ali 13: But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre:
Mohsin Khan: 13: And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,
Saheeh: 13: And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,
Urdu 13: اور ہم نے نوح کو تختوں اور کیلوں والی کشتی پر سوار کیا


14  
تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
Transliteration 14: Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira
Yusuf Ali 14: She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)!
Mohsin Khan: 14: Floating under Our Eyes: a reward for him who had been rejected!
Saheeh: 14: Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.
Urdu 14: جو ہماری عنایت سے چلتی تھی یہ اس کا بدلہ تھا جس کا انکار کیا گیا تھا


15  
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 15: Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 15: And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 15: And indeed, We have left this as a sign. Then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 15: And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 15: اور ہم نے اس کو ایک نشان بنا کر چھوڑ دیا پس کیا کوئی نصیحت پکڑنے والا ہے


16  
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 16: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 16: But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning?
Mohsin Khan: 16: Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Saheeh: 16: And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
Urdu 16: پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا


17  
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 17: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 17: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 17: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any one who will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 17: And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 17: اور البتہ ہم نے تو سمجھنے کے لیے قرآن کو آسان کر دیا پھر کوئی ہے کہ سمجھے


18  
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 18: Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 18: The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning?
Mohsin Khan: 18: 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud); then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Saheeh: 18: 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
Urdu 18: قوم عاد نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا


19  
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
Transliteration 19: Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin
Yusuf Ali 19: For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster,
Mohsin Khan: 19: Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.
Saheeh: 19: Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,
Urdu 19: بے شک ہم نے ایک دن سخت آندھی بھیجی تھی جس کی نحوست دائمی تھی


20  
تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
Transliteration 20: TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin
Yusuf Ali 20: Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground).
Mohsin Khan: 20: Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms.
Saheeh: 20: Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.
Urdu 20: جو لوگوں کو ایسا پھینک رہی تھی کہ گویا وہ کھجور کے جڑ سے اکھڑے ہوئے پیڑ ہیں


21  
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 21: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 21: Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!
Mohsin Khan: 21: Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Saheeh: 21: And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
Urdu 21: پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا


22  
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 22: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 22: But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 22: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 22: And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 22: اور البتہ ہم نے قرآن کو سمجھنے کے لیے آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی کہ سمجھے


23  
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ
Transliteration 23: Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri
Yusuf Ali 23: The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners.
Mohsin Khan: 23: Thamud (people also) belied the warnings.
Saheeh: 23: Thamud denied the warning
Urdu 23: قوم ثمود نے بھی ڈرانے والوں کو جھٹلایا تھا


24  
فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ
Transliteration 24: Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin
Yusuf Ali 24: For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad!
Mohsin Khan: 24: And they said: "A man, alone among us - shall we follow him? Truly then we should be in error and distress (or madness)!"
Saheeh: 24: And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.
Urdu 24: پس کہا کیا ہم اپنے میں سے ایک آدمی کے کہنے پر چلیں گے تب تو ہم ضرور گمراہی اور دیوانگی میں جا پڑیں گے


25  
أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
Transliteration 25: Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun
Yusuf Ali 25: "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!"
Mohsin Khan: 25: "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih عليه السلام] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"
Saheeh: 25: Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."
Urdu 25: کیا ہم میں سے اسی پر وحی بھیجی گئی بلکہ وہ بڑا جھوٹا (اور) شیخی خورہ ہے


26  
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ
Transliteration 26: SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru
Yusuf Ali 26: Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one!
Mohsin Khan: 26: Tomorrow they will come to know who is the liar, the insolent one!
Saheeh: 26: They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.
Urdu 26: عنقریب انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا کون بڑا جھوٹا (اور) شیخی خورہ ہے


27  
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ
Transliteration 27: Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir
Yusuf Ali 27: For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience!
Mohsin Khan: 27: Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih عليه السلام], and be patient!
Saheeh: 27: Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.
Urdu 27: بے شک ہم ان کی آزمائش کے لیے اونٹنی بھیجنے والے ہیں پس (اے صالح) ان کا انتظار کر اور صبر کر


28  
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
Transliteration 28: Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun
Yusuf Ali 28: And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns).
Mohsin Khan: 28: And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them, each one's right to drink being established (by turns).
Saheeh: 28: And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn].
Urdu 28: اور ان سے کہہ دو کہ پانی ان میں بٹ گیا ہے ہر ایک اپنی باری سے پانی پلایا کرے


29  
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
Transliteration 29: Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqara
Yusuf Ali 29: But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her).
Mohsin Khan: 29: But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).
Saheeh: 29: But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her].
Urdu 29: پھر انہوں نے اپنے رفیق کو بلایا تب اس نے ہاتھ بڑھایا اور (اس کی) کانچیں کاٹ ڈالیں


30  
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 30: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 30: Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!
Mohsin Khan: 30: Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
Saheeh: 30: And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
Urdu 30: پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا


31  
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ
Transliteration 31: Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri
Yusuf Ali 31: For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle.
Mohsin Khan: 31: Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry), and they became like the stubble of a fold-builder.
Saheeh: 31: Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.
Urdu 31: بے شک ہم نے ان پر ایک زور کی چیخ کا عذاب بھیجا پھر وہ ایسے ہو گئے جیسا کانٹو ں کی باڑ کا چورا


32  
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 32: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 32: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 32: And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 32: And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 32: اور البتہ ہم نے قرآن کو سمجھنے کے لیے آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی سمجھنے والا


33  
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ
Transliteration 33: Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuri
Yusuf Ali 33: The people of Lut rejected (his) warning.
Mohsin Khan: 33: The people of Lut (Lot) belied the warnings.
Saheeh: 33: The people of Lot denied the warning.
Urdu 33: قوم لوط نے بھی ڈرانے والوں کو جھٹلایا تھا


34  
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَاهُم بِسَحَرٍ
Transliteration 34: Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin
Yusuf Ali 34: We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,-
Mohsin Khan: 34: Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lut (Lot), them We saved in the last hour of the night,
Saheeh: 34: Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn
Urdu 34: بے شک ہم نے ان پر پتھر برسائے سوائے لوط کے گھر والوں کے ہم نے انہیں پچھلی رات نجات دی


35  
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَن شَكَرَ
Transliteration 35: NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara
Yusuf Ali 35: As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks.
Mohsin Khan: 35: As a Favour from Us. Thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).
Saheeh: 35: As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful.
Urdu 35: یہ ہماری طرف سے فضل ہے جو شکر کرتا ہے ہم اسے ایسا ہی بدلہ دیا کرتے ہیں


36  
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ
Transliteration 36: Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri
Yusuf Ali 36: And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning.
Mohsin Khan: 36: And he [Lut (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Seizure (punishment), but they did doubt the warnings!
Saheeh: 36: And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.
Urdu 36: اور وہ انہیں ہماری پکڑ سے ڈرا چکا تھا پس وہ ڈرانے میں شک کرنے لگے


37  
وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 37: Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 37: And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning."
Mohsin Khan: 37: And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, (saying) "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."
Saheeh: 37: And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."
Urdu 37: اور البتہ اس سے اس کے مہمانوں کا مطالبہ کرنے لگے تو ہم نے ان کی آنکھیں مٹا دیں پس (کہا) میرے عذاب اور میرے ڈرانے کا مزہ چکھو


38  
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
Transliteration 38: Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun
Yusuf Ali 38: Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them:
Mohsin Khan: 38: And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.
Saheeh: 38: And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.
Urdu 38: اور بے شک صبح کو ان پر ایک عذاب نہ ٹلنے والا آ پڑا


39  
فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Transliteration 39: Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri
Yusuf Ali 39: "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning."
Mohsin Khan: 39: "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."
Saheeh: 39: So taste My punishment and warning.
Urdu 39: پس میرے عذاب اور میرے ڈرانے کا مزہ چکھو


40  
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 40: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 40: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 40: And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 40: And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 40: اور البتہ ہم نے سمجھنے کے لیے قرآن کو آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی سمجھنے والا


41  
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ
Transliteration 41: Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru
Yusuf Ali 41: To the People of Pharaoh, too, aforetime, came Warners (from Allah).
Mohsin Khan: 41: And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) [through Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)].
Saheeh: 41: And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.
Urdu 41: اور البتہ فرعون کے خاندان کے پاس بھی ڈرانے والے آئے تھے


42  
كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
Transliteration 42: Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin
Yusuf Ali 42: The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One Exalted in Power, able to carry out His Will.
Mohsin Khan: 42: (They) belied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable (Omnipotent).
Saheeh: 42: They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.
Urdu 42: انہوں نے ہماری سب نشانیوں کو جھٹلایا پھر ہم نے انہیں بڑی زبردست پکڑ سے پکڑا


43  
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُولَـٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ
Transliteration 43: Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi
Yusuf Ali 43: Are your Unbelievers, (O Quraish), better than they? Or have ye an immunity in the Sacred Books?
Mohsin Khan: 43: Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nuh (Noah), Lut (Lot), Salih, and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) who were destroyed)? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures?
Saheeh: 43: Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture?
Urdu 43: کیا تمہارے منکر ان لوگوں سے اچھے ہیں یا تمہارے لیے کتابوں میں نجات لکھی ہے


44  
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
Transliteration 44: Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun
Yusuf Ali 44: Or do they say: "We acting together can defend ourselves"?
Mohsin Khan: 44: Or say they: "We are a great multitude, victorious?"
Saheeh: 44: Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?
Urdu 44: کیا وہ یہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم زبردست جماعت ہیں


45  
سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ
Transliteration 45: Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura
Yusuf Ali 45: Soon will their multitude be put to flight, and they will show their backs.
Mohsin Khan: 45: Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs.
Saheeh: 45: [Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].
Urdu 45: عنقریب یہ جماعت بھی شکست کھائے گی اور پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگیں گے


46  
بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
Transliteration 46: Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru
Yusuf Ali 46: Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be most grievous and most bitter.
Mohsin Khan: 46: Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.
Saheeh: 46: But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.
Urdu 46: بلکہ قیامت ان کے وعدے کا وقت ہے اور قیامت زیادہ دہشت ناک اور تلخ تر ہے


47  
إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ
Transliteration 47: Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin
Yusuf Ali 47: Truly those in sin are the ones straying in mind, and mad.
Mohsin Khan: 47: Verily the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).
Saheeh: 47: Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness.
Urdu 47: بے شک مجرم گمراہی اور جنون میں ہیں


48  
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ
Transliteration 48: Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara
Yusuf Ali 48: The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, (they will hear:) "Taste ye the touch of Hell!"
Mohsin Khan: 48: The Day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!"
Saheeh: 48: The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."
Urdu 48: جس دن اپنے منہ کے بل دوزخ میں گھسیٹے جائیں گے (کہا جائے گا) آگ لگنے کا مزہ چکھو


49  
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ
Transliteration 49: Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin
Yusuf Ali 49: Verily, all things have We created in proportion and measure.
Mohsin Khan: 49: Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).
Saheeh: 49: Indeed, all things We created with predestination.
Urdu 49: بے شک ہم نے ہر چیز اندازے سے بنائی ہے


50  
وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ
Transliteration 50: Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasari
Yusuf Ali 50: And Our Command is but a single (Act),- like the twinkling of an eye.
Mohsin Khan: 50: And Our Commandment is but one as the twinkling of an eye.
Saheeh: 50: And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.
Urdu 50: اور ہمارا حکم تو ایک ہی بات ہوتی ہے جیسا کہ پلک جھپکنا


51  
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
Transliteration 51: Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirin
Yusuf Ali 51: And (oft) in the past, have We destroyed gangs like unto you: then is there any that will receive admonition?
Mohsin Khan: 51: And indeed, We have destroyed your likes; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
Saheeh: 51: And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?
Urdu 51: اور البتہ ہم تمہارے جیسوں کو غارت کر چکے ہیں پھر کیا کوئی سمجھنے والا ہے


52  
وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ
Transliteration 52: Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburi
Yusuf Ali 52: All that they do is noted in (their) Books (of Deeds):
Mohsin Khan: 52: And everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).
Saheeh: 52: And everything they did is in written records.
Urdu 52: اور پھر جو کچھ بھی انہوں نے کیا ہے وہ اعمال ناموں میں موجود ہے


53  
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
Transliteration 53: Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarun
Yusuf Ali 53: Every matter, small and great, is on record.
Mohsin Khan: 53: And everything, small and big, is written down (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer: الإيمان بالقدر) (See the Qur'an V.57:22 and its footnote).
Saheeh: 53: And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.
Urdu 53: اور ہر چھوٹا اور بڑا کام لکھا ہوا ہے


54  
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
Transliteration 54: Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin
Yusuf Ali 54: As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers,
Mohsin Khan: 54: Verily, The Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).
Saheeh: 54: Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,
Urdu 54: بے شک پرہیزگار باغوں اور نہروں میں ہوں گے


55  
فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
Transliteration 55: Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirin
Yusuf Ali 55: In an Assembly of Truth, in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent.
Mohsin Khan: 55: In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the One, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).
Saheeh: 55: In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.
Urdu 55: عزت کے مقام میں قادر مطلق بادشاہ کے حضور میں
