1. | الرَّحْمَـٰنُ |
Transliteration: | Alrrahmanu |
Yusuf Ali: | (Allah) Most Gracious! |
|
2. | عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ |
Transliteration: | AAallama alqurana |
Yusuf Ali: | It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. |
|
3. | خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ |
Transliteration: | Khalaqa alinsana |
Yusuf Ali: | He has created man: |
|
4. | عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ |
Transliteration: | AAallamahu albayana |
Yusuf Ali: | He has taught him speech (and intelligence). |

5. | الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ |
Transliteration: | Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin |
Yusuf Ali: | The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; |
|
6. | وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ |
Transliteration: | Waalnnajmu waalshshajaru yasjudani |
Yusuf Ali: | And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. |

7. | وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ |
Transliteration: | Waalssamaa rafaAAaha wawadaAAa almeezana |
Yusuf Ali: | And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), |

8. | أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ |
Transliteration: | Alla tatghaw fee almeezani |
Yusuf Ali: | In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. |
|
9. | وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ |
Transliteration: | Waaqeemoo alwazna bialqisti wala tukhsiroo almeezana |
Yusuf Ali: | So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. |

10. | وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ |
Transliteration: | Waalarda wadaAAaha lilanami |
Yusuf Ali: | It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: |
