The word(s) "al-madinah" appears 12 time(s) in 9 verse(s) in Quran in Mohsin Khan translation.

(1) And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun (those who migrated from Makkah to al-madinah) and the Ansar (the citizens of al-madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhajirun ) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.
(2) And among the bedouins around you, some are hypocrites, and so are some among the people of al-madinah who persist in hypocrisy; you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) know them not, We know them. We shall punish them twice, and thereafter they shall be brought back to a great (horrible) torment.
(3) Allah has forgiven the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), the Muhajirun (Muslim emigrants who left their homes and came to al-madinah) and the Ansar (Muslims of al-madinah) who followed him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in the time of distress (Tabuk expedition), after the hearts of a party of them had nearly deviated (from the Right Path), but He accepted their repentance. Certainly, He is unto them full of Kindness, Most Merciful.
(4) It was not becoming of the people of al-madinah and the bedouins of the neighbourhood to remain behind Allah's Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم when fighting in Allah's Cause) and (it was not becoming of them) to prefer their own lives to his life. That is because they suffer neither thirst nor fatigue, nor hunger in the Cause of Allah, nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness. Surely, Allah wastes not the reward of the Muhsinun
(5) And say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): My Lord! Let my entry (to the city of al-madinah) be good, and (likewise) my exit (from the city of Makkah) be good. And grant me from You an authority to help me (or a firm sign or a proof).
(6) And when a party of them said: "O people of Yathrib (al-madinah)! There is no stand (possible) for you (against the enemy attack!) Therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for permission of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) saying: "Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy)." And they lay not open. They but wished to flee.
(7) If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for illegal sex), and those who spread false news among the people in al-madinah stop not, We shall certainly let you overpower them: then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbours but a little while.
(8) And (it is also for) those who, before them, had homes (in al-madinah) and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that which they have been given (from the booty of Banu An-Nadir), and give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful.
(9) They (hyprocrites) say: "If we return to al-madinah, indeed the more honourable ('Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul, the chief of hyprocrites at al-madinah) will expel therefrom the meaner (i.e. Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم)." But honour, power and glory belong to Allah, and to His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and to the believers, but the hypocrites know not.
