(3) But thy people reject this, though it is the truth. Say: "Not mine is the responsibility for arranging your affairs;

(4) Which then is best? - he that layeth his foundation on piety to Allah and His good pleasure? - or he that layeth his foundation on an undermined sand-cliff ready to crumble to pieces? and it doth crumble to pieces with him, into the fire of Hell. And Allah guideth not people that do wrong.

(5) And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty."

(6) It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is.

(7) But warn them of the Day of Distress, when the matter will be determined: for (behold,) they are negligent and they do not believe!

(8) "'Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him': But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under mine eye.

(9) We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!"

(10) "Go thou, with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them: then draw back from them, and (wait to) see what answer they return"...
