(1) Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of inspiration, and his Lord Turned towards him; for He is oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(2) And remember Moses said to his people: "O my people! Ye have indeed wronged yourselves by your worship of the calf: So turn (in repentance) to your Maker, and slay yourselves (the wrong-doers); that will be better for you in the sight of your Maker." Then He turned towards you (in forgiveness): For He is oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(3) "Our Lord! make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(4) Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(5) If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone; for Allah is oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(6) We sent not a messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(7) Know they not that Allah doth accept repentance from His votaries and receives their gifts of charity, and that Allah is verily He, the oft-returning, Most Merciful?
(8) (He turned in mercy also) to the three who were left behind; (they felt guilty) to such a degree that the earth seemed constrained to them, for all its spaciousness, and their (very) souls seemed straitened to them,- and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah (and no refuge) but to Himself. Then He turned to them, that they might repent: for Allah is oft-returning, Most Merciful.
(9) If it were not for Allah's grace and mercy on you, and that Allah is oft-returning, full of Wisdom,- (Ye would be ruined indeed).
(10) Call them by (the names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allah. But if ye know not their father's (names, call them) your Brothers in faith, or your maulas. But there is no blame on you if ye make a mistake therein: (what counts is) the intention of your hearts: and Allah is oft-returning, Most Merciful.
