(4) The chiefs of pharaoh's people said: (O King), wilt thou suffer Moses and his people to make mischief in the land, and flout thee and thy gods? He said: We will slay their sons and spare their women, for lo! we are in power over them.

(5) And we straitened pharaoh's folk with famine and dearth of fruits, that peradventure they might heed.

(6) And (remember) when We did deliver you from pharaoh's folk who were afflicting you with dreadful torment, slaughtering your sons and sparing your women. That was a tremendous trial from your Lord.

(7) (Their way is) as the way of pharaoh's folk and those before them; they disbelieved the revelations of Allah, and Allah took them in their sins. Lo! Allah is Strong, severe in punishment.

(8) (Their way is) as the way of pharaoh's folk and those before them; they denied the revelations of their Lord, so We destroyed them in their sins. And We drowned the folk of Pharaoh. All were evil-doers.

(9) And (remind them) how Moses said unto his people: Remember Allah's favour unto you when He delivered you from pharaoh's folk who were afflicting you with dreadful torment, and were slaying your sons and sparing your women; that was a tremendous trial from your Lord.

(10) Then they threw down their cords and their staves and said: By pharaoh's might, lo! we verily are the winners.
