(1) And they prohibit (others) from it and go far away from it, and they only bring destruction upon their own souls while they do not perceive.

(2) And leave those who have taken their religion for a play and an idle sport, and whom this world's life has deceived, and remind (them) thereby lest a soul should be given up to destruction for what it has earned; it shall not have besides Allah any guardian nor an intercessor, and if it should seek to give every compensation, it shall not be accepted from it; these are they who shall be given up to destruction for what they earned; they shall have a drink of boiling water and a painful chastisement because they disbelieved.

(3) And (as to) those who reject Our communications, We draw them near (to destruction) by degrees from whence they know not.

(4) Do they not see that We are bringing destruction upon the land by curtailing it of its sides? And Allah pronounces a doom-- there is no repeller of His decree, and He is swift to take account.

(5) If you do good, you will do good for your own souls, and if you do evil, it shall be for them. So when the second promise came (We raised another people) that they may bring you to grief and that they may enter the mosque as they entered it the first time, and that they might destroy whatever they gained ascendancy over with utter destruction.

(6) And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction.

(7) And (as for) these towns, We destroyed them when they acted unjustly, and We have appointed a time for their destruction.

(8) And when they are cast into a narrow place in it, bound, they shall there call out for destruction.

(9) Call not this day for one destruction, but call for destructions many.

(10) Then We said: Go you both to the people who rejected Our communications; so We destroyed them with utter destruction.
