(11) Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

(12) Hast thou not Turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) moses? they said to a prophet (That was) among them: "Appoint for us a king, that we May fight in the cause of Allah." He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah Has full knowledge of those who do wrong.

(13) And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith."

(14) It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

(15) Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."

(16) All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel Made unlawful for itself, before the Law (of moses) was revealed. Say: "Bring ye the Law and study it, if ye be men of truth."

(17) The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave moses manifest proofs of authority.

(18) Of some messengers We have already told thee the story; of others We have not;- and to moses Allah spoke direct;-

(19) Remember moses said to his people: "O my people! Call in remembrance the favour of Allah unto you, when He produced prophets among you, made you kings, and gave you what He had not given to any other among the peoples.

(20) They said: "O moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter."
