(1) They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month. Say: Warfare therein is a great (transgression), but to turn (men) from the way of Allah, and to disbelieve in Him and in the Inviolable Place of Worship, and to expel His people thence, is a greater with Allah; for persecution is worse than killing. And they will not cease from fighting against you till they have made you renegades from your religion, if they can. And whoso becometh a renegade and dieth in his disbelief: such are they whose works have fallen both in the world and the Hereafter. Such are rightful owners of the Fire: they will abide therein.

(2) They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence. When they go forth from thence, then we will enter (not till then).

(3) He said: There shall ye live, and there shall ye die, and thence shall ye be brought forth.

(4) Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.

(5) And He it is Who hath constrained the sea to be of service that ye eat fresh meat from thence, and bring forth from thence ornaments which ye wear. And thou seest the ships ploughing it that ye (mankind) may seek of His bounty and that haply ye may give thanks.

(6) And they indeed wished to scare thee from the land that they might drive thee forth from thence, and then they would have stayed (there) but a little after thee.

(7) And the guilty behold the Fire and know that they are about to fall therein, and they find no way of escape thence.

(8) Wherein they will abide, with no desire to be removed from thence.

(9) Thereof We created you, and thereunto We return you, and thence We bring you forth a second time.

(10) Lo! those unto whom kindness hath gone forth before from Us, they will be far removed from thence.
