(1) Thee do we worship, and thine aid we seek.

(2) "Our Lord!" (they say), "Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure.

(3) "Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through thine messengers, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: For Thou never breakest Thy promise."

(4) "For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as thine, for thou wilt be among the companions of the fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong."

(5) And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

(6) They said: "By Allah! truly thou art in thine old wandering mind."

(7) Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.

(8) (It will be said to him:) "Read thine (own) record: Sufficient is thy soul this day to make out an account against thee."

(9) And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; nor obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.

(10) "So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, 'I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being'"
