(2) He said: Nay, do ye throw! Then lo! their cords and their staves, by their magic, appeared to him as though they ran.

(3) Then Moses went back unto his folk, angry and sad. He said: O my people! Hath not your Lord promised you a fair promise? Did the time appointed then appear too long for you, or did ye wish that wrath from your Lord should come upon you, that ye broke tryst with me?

(4) And hell will appear plainly to the erring.

(5) They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter.

(6) Corruption doth appear on land and sea because of (the evil) which men's hands have done, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return.

(7) And though those who do wrong possess all that is in the earth, and therewith as much again, they verily will seek to ransom themselves therewith on the Day of Resurrection from the awful doom; and there will appear unto them, from their Lord, that wherewith they never reckoned.

(8) And the evils that they earned will appear unto them, and that whereat they used to scoff will surround them.

(9) And the evils of what they did will appear unto them, and that which they used to deride will befall them.

(10) Say: Have ye thought: If (all) your water were to disappear into the earth, who then could bring you gushing water?
