(3) They call on such deities, besides Allah, as can neither hurt nor profit them: that is straying far indeed (from the Way)!

(4) Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part-worship-

(5) The (deities) they used to invoke aforetime will leave them in the lurch, and they will perceive that they have no way of escape.

(6) ("Ah!") they say, "If it had been the will of (Allah) Most Gracious, we should not have worshipped such (deities)!" Of that they have no knowledge! they do nothing but lie!

(7) And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped?
