(1) And believe in that which I reveal, confirming that which ye possess already (of the Scripture), and be not first to disbelieve therein, and part not with My revelations for a trifling price, and keep your duty unto Me.

(2) And when there cometh unto them a messenger from Allah, confirming that which they possess, a party of those who have received the Scripture fling the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they knew not,

(3) They will not harm you save a trifling hurt, and if they fight against you they will turn and flee. And afterward they will not be helped.

(4) And lo! of the People of the Scripture there are some who believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto you and that which was revealed unto them, humbling themselves before Allah. They purchase not a trifling gain at the price of the revelations of Allah. Verily their reward is with their Lord. Lo! Allah is swift to take account.

(5) One among them said: Kill not Joseph but, if ye must be doing, fling him into the depth of the pit; some caravan will find him.

(6) And when those who ascribed partners to Allah behold those partners of theirs, they will say: Our Lord! these are our partners unto whom we used to cry instead of Thee. But they will fling to them the saying: Lo! ye verily are liars!

(7) They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire.

(8) And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling.

(9) Him shall I fling unto the burning.
