(3) And such were A'ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate.

(6) And We make (this Scripture) easy in thy tongue, (O Muhammad) only that thou mayst bear good tidings therewith unto those who ward off (evil), and warn therewith the froward folk.

(7) Among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge, and followeth each froward devil;

(8) And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk.

(9) But they were froward, so We sent on them the flood of 'Iram, and in exchange for their two gardens gave them two gardens bearing bitter fruit, the tamarisk and here and there a lote-tree.

(10) They said: Your evil augury be with you! Is it because ye are reminded (of the truth)? Nay, but ye are froward folk!
