(1) And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks.

(2) Surely those who believed and fled (their homes) and struggled hard in Allah's way with their property and their souls, and those who gave shelter and helped-- these are guardians of each other; and (as for) those who believed and did not fly, not yours is their guardianship until they fly; and if they seek aid from you in the matter of religion, aid is incumbent on you except against a people between whom and you there is a treaty, and Allah sees what you do.

(3) And (as for) those who believed and fled and struggled hard in Allah's way, and those who gave shelter and helped, these are the believers truly; they shall have forgiveness and honorable provision.

(4) And Allah has made for you of what He has created shelters, and He has given you in the mountains places of retreat, and He has given you garments to preserve you from the heat and coats of mail to preserve you in your fighting; even thus does He complete His favor upon you, that haply you may submit.

(5) Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It;

(6) And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs.

(7) They make their oaths a shelter, and thus turn away from Allah's way; surely evil is that which they do.

(8) And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter,

(9) Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter?
