(61) Say: "I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than allah's". But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

(62) Or lest ye should say: "If the Book had only been sent down to us, we should have followed its guidance better than they." Now then hath come unto you a clear (sign) from your Lord,- and a guide and a mercy: then who could do more wrong than one who rejecteth allah's signs, and turneth away therefrom? In good time shall We requite those who turn away from Our signs, with a dreadful penalty, for their turning away.

(63) To the Thamud people (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren: He said: "O my people! worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a clear (Sign) from your Lord! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign unto you: So leave her to graze in allah's earth, and let her come to no harm, or ye shall be seized with a grievous punishment.

(64) Said Moses to his people: "Pray for help from Allah, and (wait) in patience and constancy: for the earth is allah's, to give as a heritage to such of His servants as He pleaseth; and the end is (best) for the righteous.

(65) But when good (times) came, they said, "This is due to us;" When gripped by calamity, they ascribed it to evil omens connected with Moses and those with him! Behold! in truth the omens of evil are theirs in allah's sight, but most of them do not understand!

(66) It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but allah's: in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).

(67) Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in allah's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah: they are the people who will achieve (salvation).

(68) They will dwell therein for ever. Verily in allah's presence is a reward, the greatest (of all).

(69) The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

(70) Fain would they extinguish allah's light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).
