(31) The hour will certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most men believe not.

(32) To Him is referred the Knowledge of the hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), "Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?" They will say, "We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!"

(33) When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.

(34) It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the hour is close at hand?

(35) Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the hour are far astray.

(36) And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.

(37) Do they only wait for the hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not?

(38) And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all between them: with Him is the Knowledge of the hour (of Judgment): and to Him shall ye be brought back.

(39) To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and the Day that the hour of Judgment is established,- that Day will the dealers in Falsehood perish!

(40) "And when it was said that the promise of Allah was true, and that the hour- there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what is the hour: we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'"
