(171) If only those who disbelieved knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs, and they will not be helped.

(172) Nay, it (the Fire or the Day of Resurrection) will come upon them all of a sudden and will perplex them, and they will have no power to avert it nor will they get respite.

(173) Or have they alihah (gods) who can guard them from Us? They have no power to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us (i.e. from Our Torment).

(174) And if a breath (minor calamity) of the Torment of your Lord touches them, they will surely cry: "Woe unto us! Indeed we have been Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)."

(175) [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you?

(176) And a ban is laid on every town (population) which We have destroyed that they shall not return (to this world again, nor repent to Us).

(177) He calls besides Allah unto that which can neither harm him, nor profit him. That is a straying far away.

(178) It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) to the Muhsinun (doers of good).

(179) No nation can advance their term, nor can they delay it.

(180) And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him.
