1  
أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ
Transliteration 1: Alam nashrah laka sadraka
Yusuf Ali 1: Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-
Mohsin Khan: 1: Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)?
Saheeh: 1: Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?
Urdu 1: کیا ہم نے آپ کا سینہ نہیں کھول دیا


2  
وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ
Transliteration 2: WawadaAAna AAanka wizraka
Yusuf Ali 2: And removed from thee thy burden
Mohsin Khan: 2: And removed from you your burden.
Saheeh: 2: And We removed from you your burden
Urdu 2: اور کیا آپ سے آپ کا وہ بوجھ نہیں اتار دیا


3  
الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ
Transliteration 3: Allathee anqada thahraka
Yusuf Ali 3: The which did gall thy back?-
Mohsin Khan: 3: Which weighed down your back?
Saheeh: 3: Which had weighed upon your back
Urdu 3: جس نے آپ کی کمر جھکا دی تھی


4  
وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ
Transliteration 4: WarafaAAna laka thikraka
Yusuf Ali 4: And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?
Mohsin Khan: 4: And have We not raised high your fame?
Saheeh: 4: And raised high for you your repute.
Urdu 4: اور ہم نے آپ کا ذکر بلند کر دیا


5  
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
Transliteration 5: Fainna maAAa alAAusri yusran
Yusuf Ali 5: So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:
Mohsin Khan: 5: Verily, along with every hardship is relief,
Saheeh: 5: For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Urdu 5: پس بے شک ہر مشکل کے ساتھ آسانی ہے


6  
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
Transliteration 6: Inna maAAa alAAusri yusran
Yusuf Ali 6: Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.
Mohsin Khan: 6: Verily, along with every hardship is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).
Saheeh: 6: Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Urdu 6: بے شک ہر مشکل کے ساتھ آسانی ہے


7  
فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ
Transliteration 7: Faitha faraghta fainsab
Yusuf Ali 7: Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,
Mohsin Khan: 7: So when you have finished (your occupation), devote yourself for Allah's worship.
Saheeh: 7: So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
Urdu 7: پس جب آپ (تبلیغ احکام سے) فارغ ہوں تو ریاضت کیجئے


8  
وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَب
Transliteration 8: Waila rabbika fairghab
Yusuf Ali 8: And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.
Mohsin Khan: 8: And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes.
Saheeh: 8: And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
Urdu 8: اور اپنے رب کی طرف دل لگائیے
