| 7. | يَا زَكَرِيَّا إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ اسْمُهُ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا |
| Transliteration: | Ya zakariyya inna nubashshiruka bighulamin ismuhu yahya lam najAAal lahu min qablu samiyyan |
| Yusuf Ali: | (His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before." |
| Shakir: | O Zakariya! surely We give you good news of a boy whose name shall be Yahya: We have not made before anyone his equal. |
| Pickthall: | (It was said unto him): O Zachariah! Lo! We bring thee tidings of a son whose name is John; we have given the same name to none before (him). |
| Mohsin Khan: | (Allah said) "O Zakariyya (Zachariah)! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, whose name will be Yahya (John). We have given that name to none before (him)." |
| Saheeh: | [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." |
| Urdu: | اے زکریا بے شک ہم تجھے ایک لڑکے کی خوشخبری دیتے ہیں جس کا نام یحییٰ ہوگا اس سےپہلے ہم نے اس نام کا کوئی پیدا نہیں کیا |
