| 10. | وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waith nada rabbuka moosa ani iti alqawma alththalimeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- |
| Shakir: | And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people, |
| Pickthall: | And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, |
| Mohsin Khan: | And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) - |
| Saheeh: | And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - |
| Urdu: | اور جب تیرے رب نے موسیٰ کو پکارا کہ اس ظالم قوم کے پاس جا |
|
| 11. | قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" |
| Shakir: | The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? |
| Pickthall: | The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? |
| Mohsin Khan: | "The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh): Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" |
| Saheeh: | The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" |
| Urdu: | فرعون کی قوم کے پاس کیا وہ ڈرتے نہیں |
|
| 12. | قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ |
| Transliteration: | Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni |
| Yusuf Ali: | He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: |
| Shakir: | He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; |
| Pickthall: | He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, |
| Mohsin Khan: | He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, |
| Saheeh: | He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me |
| Urdu: | عرض کی اے میرے رب میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ مجھے جھٹلا دیں |
|
| 13. | وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. |
| Shakir: | And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); |
| Pickthall: | And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). |
| Saheeh: | And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. |
| Urdu: | اور میرا سینہ تنگ ہوجائے اور میری زبان نہ چلے پس ہارون کو پیغام دے |

| 14. | وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ |
| Transliteration: | Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." |
| Shakir: | And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. |
| Pickthall: | And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." |
| Saheeh: | And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." |
| Urdu: | اور میرے ذمہ ان کا ایک گناہ بھی ہے سو میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ مجھے مار نہ ڈالیں |

| 15. | قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala kalla faithhaba biayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). |
| Shakir: | He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; |
| Pickthall: | He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. |
| Mohsin Khan: | (Allah) said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily We shall be with you, listening. |
| Saheeh: | [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. |
| Urdu: | فرمایا ہر گز نہیں تم دونوں ہماری نشانیاں لے کر جاؤ ہم تمہارے ساتھ سننے والے ہیں |
|
| 16. | فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Fatiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; |
| Shakir: | Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: |
| Pickthall: | And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And go both of you to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists), |
| Saheeh: | Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, |
| Urdu: | سو فرعون کے پاس جاؤ اور کہو کہ ہم پروردگار عالم کا پیغام لے کر آئے ہیں |
|
| 17. | أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
| Transliteration: | An arsil maAAana banee israeela |
| Yusuf Ali: | "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" |
| Shakir: | Then send with us the children of Israel. |
| Pickthall: | (Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " |
| Saheeh: | [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" |
| Urdu: | یہ کہ ہمارے ساتھ بنی اسرائیل کو بھیج دے |
|
| 18. | قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? |
| Shakir: | (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? |
| Urdu: | کہا کیا ہم نےتمہیں بچپن میں پرورش نہیں کیا اورتو نے ہم میں اپنی عمر کے کئی سال گزارے |
|
| 19. | وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" |
| Shakir: | And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. |
| Pickthall: | And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man) while you were one of the ingrates." |
| Saheeh: | And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." |
| Urdu: | اور تو اپنا وہ کرتوت کر گیا جوکر گیا اور تو ناشکروں میں سے ہے |

| 20. | قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. |
| Shakir: | He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course; |
| Pickthall: | He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. |
| Urdu: | کہا جب میں نے وہ کام کیا تھاتو میں بےخبر تھا |
|
| 21. | فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. |
| Shakir: | So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; |
| Pickthall: | Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). |
| Mohsin Khan: | "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukm (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and made me one of the Messengers. |
| Saheeh: | So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. |
| Urdu: | پھر میں تم سے تمہارے ڈر کے مارے بھاگ گیا تب مجھے میرے رب نے دانائی عطا کی اور مجھے رسول بنایا |
|
| 22. | وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
| Transliteration: | Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee israeela |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" |
| Shakir: | And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? |
| Pickthall: | And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me: that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." |
| Saheeh: | And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" |
| Urdu: | اور یہ احسان جو تو مجھ پر رکھتا ہے اسی لیے تو نے بنی اسرائیل کو غلام بنا رکھا ہے |
|
| 23. | قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" |
| Shakir: | Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? |
| Pickthall: | Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? |
| Mohsin Khan: | Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)?" |
| Saheeh: | Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" |
| Urdu: | فرعون نے کہا رب العالمین کیا چیز ہے |
|
| 24. | قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." |
| Shakir: | He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. |
| Pickthall: | (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Musa (Moses)] said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." |
| Urdu: | فرمایا آسمانوں اور زمین اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے سب کا پروردگار ہے اگر تمہیں یقین آئے |
|
| 25. | قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" |
| Shakir: | (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" |
| Urdu: | اپنے گرد والوں سے کہا کیا تم سنتے نہیں ہو |

| 26. | قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" |
| Shakir: | He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. |
| Pickthall: | He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Musa (Moses)] said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." |
| Urdu: | فرمایا تمہارا ور تمہارے پہلے باپ دادا کا رب ہے |
|
| 27. | قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ |
| Transliteration: | Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" |
| Shakir: | Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." |
| Urdu: | کہا بے شک تمہارا رسول جو تمہارے پاس بھیجا گیا ہے ضرور دیوانہ ہے |
|
| 28. | قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" |
| Shakir: | He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. |
| Pickthall: | He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Musa (Moses)] said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." |
| Urdu: | فرمایا مشر ق مغرب اور جو ان کے درمیان ہے سب کا پروردگار ہے اگر تم عقل رکھتے ہو |
|
| 29. | قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala laini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" |
| Shakir: | Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." |
| Urdu: | کہا اگر تو نے میرے سوا اور کوئی معبود بنایا تو تمہیں قید میں ڈال دوں گا |
|
| 30. | قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ |
| Transliteration: | Qala awalaw jituka bishayin mubeenin |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" |
| Shakir: | He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? |
| Pickthall: | He said: Even though I show thee something plain? |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Musa (Moses)] said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" |
| Urdu: | فرمایا اگرچہ میں تیرے پاس ایک روشن چیز لے آؤں |

| 31. | قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala fati bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" |
| Shakir: | Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." |
| Urdu: | کہا اگر تو سچا ہے تو وہ چیز لا |
|
| 32. | فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ |
| Transliteration: | Faalqa AAasahu faitha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun |
| Yusuf Ali: | So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! |
| Shakir: | So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, |
| Pickthall: | Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, |
| Mohsin Khan: | So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest. |
| Saheeh: | So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. |
| Urdu: | پھر اس نےاپناعصا ڈال دیا سو اسی وقت وہ صریح اژدھا ہو گیا |
|
| 33. | وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | WanazaAAa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! |
| Shakir: | And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. |
| Pickthall: | And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! |
| Saheeh: | And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. |
| Urdu: | اوراپنا ہاتھ نکالا سو اسی وقت وہ دیکھنے والوں کو چمکتا ہوا دکھائی دیا |

| 34. | قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ |
| Transliteration: | Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: |
| Shakir: | (Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician, |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard, |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer. |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician. |
| Urdu: | اپنے گرد کے سرداروں سے کہا کہ بے شک یہ بڑا ماہر جادوگر ہے |
|
| 35. | يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" |
| Shakir: | Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that you advise? |
| Pickthall: | Who would drive you out of your land by his magic. Now what counsel ye? |
| Mohsin Khan: | "He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery: what is it then that you command?" |
| Saheeh: | He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" |
| Urdu: | چاہتا ہے کہ تمہیں تمہارے دیس سے اپنے جادو کے زور سےنکال دےپھر تم کیا رائے دیتے ہو |
|
| 36. | قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almadaini hashireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect- |
| Shakir: | They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities |
| Pickthall: | They said: Put him off, (him) and his brother, and send into the cities summoners |
| Mohsin Khan: | They said: "Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the cities; |
| Saheeh: | They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers |
| Urdu: | کہا اسےاور اس کے بھائی کو مہلت دو اور شہروں میں چپڑاسیوں کو بھیج دیجیئے |
|
| 37. | يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ |
| Transliteration: | Yatooka bikulli sahharin AAaleemin |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." |
| Shakir: | That they should bring to you every skillful magician. |
| Pickthall: | Who shall bring unto thee every knowing wizard. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer." |
| Saheeh: | Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician." |
| Urdu: | کہ تیرے پاس بڑے ماہر جادوگروں کو لے آئیں |
|
| 38. | فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ |
| Transliteration: | FajumiAAa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloomin |
| Yusuf Ali: | So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known, |
| Shakir: | So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day, |
| Pickthall: | So the wizards were gathered together at a set time on a day appointed. |
| Mohsin Khan: | So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed. |
| Saheeh: | So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day. |
| Urdu: | پھر سب جادوگر ایک مقرر دن پر جمع کیے گئے |
|
| 39. | وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- |
| Shakir: | And it was said to the people: Will you gather together? |
| Pickthall: | And it was said unto the people: Are ye (also) gathering? |
| Mohsin Khan: | And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble? |
| Saheeh: | And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate |
| Urdu: | اور لوگوں سے کہا گیا کیا تم بھی اکھٹے ہوتے ہو |
|
| 40. | لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ |
| Transliteration: | LaAAallana nattabiAAu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?" |
| Shakir: | Haply we may follow the magicians, if they are the vanquishers. |
| Pickthall: | (They said): Aye, so that we may follow the wizards if they are the winners. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners." |
| Saheeh: | That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?" |
| Urdu: | تاکہ اگر جادوگر غالب آجائیں تو ہم انہی کی راہ پر رہیں |
|
| 41. | فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win? |
| Shakir: | And when the magicians came, they said to Firon: Shall we get a reward if we are the vanquishers? |
| Pickthall: | And when the wizards came they said unto Pharaoh: Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners? |
| Mohsin Khan: | So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?" |
| Saheeh: | And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?" |
| Urdu: | پھر جب جادوگر آئے تو فرعون سے کہا اگر ہم غالب آگئے تو کیا ہمیں کوئی بڑا انعام ملے گا |
|
| 42. | قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala naAAam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." |
| Shakir: | He said: Yes, and surely you will then be of those who are made near. |
| Pickthall: | He said: Aye, and ye will then surely be of those brought near (to me). |
| Mohsin Khan: | He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)." |
| Saheeh: | He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]." |
| Urdu: | کہا ہاں اور بیشک تم اس وقت مقربوں میں داخل ہو جاؤ گے |
|
| 43. | قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!" |
| Shakir: | Musa said to them: Cast what you are going to cast. |
| Pickthall: | Moses said unto them: Throw what ye are going to throw! |
| Mohsin Khan: | Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!" |
| Saheeh: | Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw." |
| Urdu: | موسیٰ نے ان سے کہا ڈالو جو تم ڈالتے ہو |
|
| 44. | فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona |
| Yusuf Ali: | So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" |
| Shakir: | So they cast down their cords and their rods and said: By Firon's power, we shall most surely be victorious. |
| Pickthall: | Then they threw down their cords and their staves and said: By Pharaoh's might, lo! we verily are the winners. |
| Mohsin Khan: | So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!" |
| Saheeh: | So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant." |
| Urdu: | پھر انہوں نے اپنی رسیاں اور لاٹھیاں ڈال دیں اور کہا فرعون کے اقبال سے ہماری فتح ہے |
|
| 45. | فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Faalqa moosa AAasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake! |
| Shakir: | Then Musa cast down his staff and lo! it swallowed up the lies they told. |
| Pickthall: | Then Moses threw his staff and lo! it swallowed that which they did falsely show. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all that they falsely showed! |
| Saheeh: | Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified. |
| Urdu: | پھر موسیٰ نے اپنا عصا ڈالا پھر وہ فوراً ہی نگلنے لگا جو انہوں نے جھوٹ بنایا تھا |
|
| 46. | فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, |
| Shakir: | And the magicians were thrown down prostrate; |
| Pickthall: | And the wizards were flung prostrate, |
| Mohsin Khan: | And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. |
| Saheeh: | So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. |
| Urdu: | پھر جادوگر سجدے میں گر پڑے |
|
| 47. | قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, |
| Shakir: | They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds: |
| Pickthall: | Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, |
| Mohsin Khan: | Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). |
| Saheeh: | They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, |
| Urdu: | کہا ہم رب العالمین پر ایمان لائے |
|
| 48. | رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Rabbi moosa waharoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." |
| Shakir: | The Lord of Musa and Haroun. |
| Pickthall: | The Lord of Moses and Aaron. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." |
| Saheeh: | The Lord of Moses and Aaron." |
| Urdu: | جو موسیٰ اور ہارون کا رب ہے |
|
| 49. | قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!" |
| Shakir: | Said he: You believe in him before I give you permission; most surely he is the chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall know: certainly I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and certainly I will crucify you all. |
| Pickthall: | (Pharaoh) said: Ye put your faith in him before I give you leave. Lo! he doubtless is your chief who taught you magic! But verily ye shall come to know. Verily I will cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and verily I will crucify you every one. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all." |
| Saheeh: | [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all." |
| Urdu: | کہا کیا تم میری اجازت سے پہلے ہی ایمان لے آئے بے شک وہ تمہارا استاد ہے جس نے تمہیں جادو سکھایا ہے سو تمہیں ابھی معلوم ہو جائے گا البتہ میں تمہارا ایک طرف کا ہاتھ اور دوسری طرف کا پاؤں کاٹ دوں گا اور تم سب کو سولی پر چڑھا دوں گا |
|
| 50. | قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona |
| Yusuf Ali: | They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! |
| Shakir: | They said: No harm; surely to our Lord we go back; |
| Pickthall: | They said: It is no hurt, for lo! unto our Lord we shall return. |
| Mohsin Khan: | They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return. |
| Saheeh: | They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return. |
| Urdu: | کہا کچھ حرج نہیں بے شک ہم اپنے رب کے پاس پہنچنے والا ہوں گے |
|
| 51. | إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" |
| Shakir: | Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first of the believers. |
| Pickthall: | Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "Verily we really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers [in Musa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has brought from Allah]." |
| Saheeh: | Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers." |
| Urdu: | ہمیں امید ہے کہ ہمارا رب ہمارے گناہوں کو معاف کر دے گا اس لیے کہ ہم سب سے پہلے ایمان لانے والے ہیں |
|
| 52. | ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued." |
| Shakir: | And We revealed to Musa, saying: Go away with My servants travelling by night, surely you will be pursued. |
| Pickthall: | And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be pursued. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We revealed to Musa (Moses), saying: "Depart by night with My slaves, verily you will be pursued." |
| Saheeh: | And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued." |
| Urdu: | اور ہم نے موسی ٰکو حکم بھیجا کہ میرے بندوں کو رات کو لے نکل البتہ تمہارا پیچھا کیا جائے گا |
|
| 53. | فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Faarsala firAAawnu fee almadaini hashireena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities, |
| Shakir: | So Firon sent heralds into the cities; |
| Pickthall: | Then Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners, |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then Fir'aun (Pharaoh) sent callers to (all) the cities. |
| Saheeh: | Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers |
| Urdu: | پھر فرعون نے شہروں میں چپڑاسی بھیجے |
|
| 54. | إِنَّ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band, |
| Shakir: | Most surely these are a small company; |
| Pickthall: | (Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop, |
| Mohsin Khan: | (Saying): "Verily these indeed are but a small band. |
| Saheeh: | [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band, |
| Urdu: | کہ یہ ایک تھوڑی سی جماعت ہے |
|
| 55. | وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wainnahum lana laghaithoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And they are raging furiously against us; |
| Shakir: | And most surely they have enraged us; |
| Pickthall: | And lo! they are offenders against us. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "And verily, they have done what has enraged us. |
| Saheeh: | And indeed, they are enraging us, |
| Urdu: | اور انہوں نے ہمیں بہت غصہ دلایا ہے |
|
| 56. | وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Wainna lajameeAAun hathiroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned." |
| Shakir: | And most surely we are a vigilant multitude. |
| Pickthall: | And lo! we are a ready host. |
| Mohsin Khan: | "But we are a host all assembled, amply fore-warned." |
| Saheeh: | And indeed, we are a cautious society... " |
| Urdu: | اور بے شک ہم سب ہتھیار بند ہیں |
|
| 57. | فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ |
| Transliteration: | Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin |
| Yusuf Ali: | So We expelled them from gardens, springs, |
| Shakir: | So We turned them out of gardens and springs, |
| Pickthall: | Thus did We take them away from gardens and watersprings, |
| Mohsin Khan: | So, We expelled them from gardens and springs, |
| Saheeh: | So We removed them from gardens and springs |
| Urdu: | پھر ہم نے انہیں باغوں اور چشموں سے نکال باہر کیا |
|
| 58. | وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ |
| Transliteration: | Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin |
| Yusuf Ali: | Treasures, and every kind of honourable position; |
| Shakir: | And treasures and goodly dwellings, |
| Pickthall: | And treasures and a fair estate. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Treasures, and every kind of honourable place. |
| Saheeh: | And treasures and honorable station - |
| Urdu: | اور خزانوں اور عمدہ مکانو ں سے |
|
| 59. | كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
| Transliteration: | Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela |
| Yusuf Ali: | Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things. |
| Shakir: | Even so. And We gave them as a heritage to the children of Israel. |
| Pickthall: | Thus (were those things taken from them) and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Thus [We turned them (Pharaoh's people) out] and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them. |
| Saheeh: | Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel. |
| Urdu: | اسی طرح ہوا اور ہم نے ان چیزوں کا بنی اسرائیل کو وارث بنایا |
|
| 60. | فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ |
| Transliteration: | FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | So they pursued them at sunrise. |
| Shakir: | Then they pursued them at sunrise. |
| Pickthall: | And they overtook them at sunrise. |
| Mohsin Khan: | So they pursued them at sunrise. |
| Saheeh: | So they pursued them at sunrise. |
| Urdu: | پھر سورج نکلنے کے وقت ان کے پیچھے پڑے |
|
| 61. | فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken." |
| Shakir: | So when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa cried out: Most surely we are being overtaken. |
| Pickthall: | And when the two hosts saw each other, those with Moses said: Lo! we are indeed caught. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken." |
| Saheeh: | And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!" |
| Urdu: | پھر جب دونوں جماعتوں نےایک دوسرے کو دیکھا تو موسیٰ کے ساتھیوں نے کہا ہم تو پکڑے گئے |
|
| 62. | قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ |
| Transliteration: | Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni |
| Yusuf Ali: | (Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!" |
| Shakir: | He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out. |
| Pickthall: | He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me. |
| Mohsin Khan: | [Musa (Moses)] said: "Nay, verily with me is my Lord. He will guide me." |
| Saheeh: | [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me." |
| Urdu: | کہا ہرگز نہیں میرا رب میرے ساتھ ہے وہ مجھے راہ بتائے گا |
|
| 63. | فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| Transliteration: | Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi |
| Yusuf Ali: | Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain. |
| Shakir: | Then We revealed to Musa: Strike the sea with your staff. So it had cloven asunder, and each part was like a huge mound. |
| Pickthall: | Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then We revealed to Musa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like huge mountain. |
| Saheeh: | Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain. |
| Urdu: | پھر ہم نےموسیٰ کو حکم بھیجا کہ اپنی لاٹھی کو دریا پر مار پھر پھٹ گیا پھر ہر ٹکڑا بڑے ٹیلے کی طرح ہو گیا |
|
| 64. | وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waazlafna thamma alakhareena |
| Yusuf Ali: | And We made the other party approach thither. |
| Shakir: | And We brought near, there, the others. |
| Pickthall: | Then brought We near the others to that place. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then We brought near the others [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) party] to that place. |
| Saheeh: | And We advanced thereto the pursuers. |
| Urdu: | اور ہم نے اس جگہ دوسروں کو پہنچا دیا |
|
| 65. | وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | We delivered Moses and all who were with him; |
| Shakir: | And We saved Musa and those with him, all of them. |
| Pickthall: | And We saved Moses and those with him, every one; |
| Mohsin Khan: | And We saved Musa (Moses) and all those with him. |
| Saheeh: | And We saved Moses and those with him, all together. |
| Urdu: | اورہم نے موسیٰ کی اور جو اس کے ساتھ تھے سب کو نجات دی |
|
| 66. | ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Thumma aghraqna alakhareena |
| Yusuf Ali: | But We drowned the others. |
| Shakir: | Then We drowned the others. |
| Pickthall: | And We drowned the others. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then We drowned the others. |
| Saheeh: | Then We drowned the others. |
| Urdu: | پھر ہم نے دوسروں کو غرق کر دیا |
