وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Transliteration 10: Waith nada rabbuka moosa ani iti alqawma alththalimeena
Yusuf Ali 10: Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-
Shakir 10: And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people,
Pickthal 10: And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk,
Mohsin Khan: 10: And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) -
Saheeh: 10: And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
Urdu 10: اور جب تیرے رب نے موسیٰ کو پکارا کہ اس ظالم قوم کے پاس جا


11  
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
Transliteration 11: Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona
Yusuf Ali 11: "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"
Shakir 11: The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)?
Pickthal 11: The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)?
Mohsin Khan: 11: "The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh): Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?"
Saheeh: 11: The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"
Urdu 11: فرعون کی قوم کے پاس کیا وہ ڈرتے نہیں


12  
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
Transliteration 12: Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni
Yusuf Ali 12: He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:
Shakir 12: He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me;
Pickthal 12: He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me,
Mohsin Khan: 12: He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me,
Saheeh: 12: He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Urdu 12: عرض کی اے میرے رب میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ مجھے جھٹلا دیں


13  
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ
Transliteration 13: Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona
Yusuf Ali 13: "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.
Shakir 13: And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me);
Pickthal 13: And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me).
Mohsin Khan: 13: "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me).
Saheeh: 13: And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
Urdu 13: اور میرا سینہ تنگ ہوجائے اور میری زبان نہ چلے پس ہارون کو پیغام دے


14  
وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
Transliteration 14: Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni
Yusuf Ali 14: "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."
Shakir 14: And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me.
Pickthal 14: And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me.
Mohsin Khan: 14: "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me."
Saheeh: 14: And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
Urdu 14: اور میرے ذمہ ان کا ایک گناہ بھی ہے سو میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ مجھے مار نہ ڈالیں


15  
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
Transliteration 15: Qala kalla faithhaba biayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona
Yusuf Ali 15: Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).
Shakir 15: He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing;
Pickthal 15: He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing.
Mohsin Khan: 15: (Allah) said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily We shall be with you, listening.
Saheeh: 15: [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
Urdu 15: فرمایا ہر گز نہیں تم دونوں ہماری نشانیاں لے کر جاؤ ہم تمہارے ساتھ سننے والے ہیں


16  
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Transliteration 16: Fatiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
Yusuf Ali 16: "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;
Shakir 16: Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds:
Pickthal 16: And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds,
Mohsin Khan: 16: "And go both of you to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists),
Saheeh: 16: Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
Urdu 16: سو فرعون کے پاس جاؤ اور کہو کہ ہم پروردگار عالم کا پیغام لے کر آئے ہیں


17  
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Transliteration 17: An arsil maAAana banee israeela
Yusuf Ali 17: "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"
Shakir 17: Then send with us the children of Israel.
Pickthal 17: (Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us.
Mohsin Khan: 17: "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' "
Saheeh: 17: [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
Urdu 17: یہ کہ ہمارے ساتھ بنی اسرائیل کو بھیج دے


18  
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
Transliteration 18: Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena
Yusuf Ali 18: (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?
Shakir 18: (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life?
Pickthal 18: (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us,
Mohsin Khan: 18: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us.
Saheeh: 18: [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
Urdu 18: کہا کیا ہم نےتمہیں بچپن میں پرورش نہیں کیا اورتو نے ہم میں اپنی عمر کے کئی سال گزارے


19  
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Transliteration 19: WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena
Yusuf Ali 19: "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"
Shakir 19: And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful.
Pickthal 19: And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates.
Mohsin Khan: 19: "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man) while you were one of the ingrates."
Saheeh: 19: And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
Urdu 19: اور تو اپنا وہ کرتوت کر گیا جوکر گیا اور تو ناشکروں میں سے ہے


20  
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
Transliteration 20: Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena
Yusuf Ali 20: Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
Shakir 20: He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course;
Pickthal 20: He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray.
Mohsin Khan: 20: Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message).
Saheeh: 20: [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
Urdu 20: کہا جب میں نے وہ کام کیا تھاتو میں بےخبر تھا


21  
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Transliteration 21: Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena
Yusuf Ali 21: "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
Shakir 21: So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles;
Pickthal 21: Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him).
Mohsin Khan: 21: "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukm (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and made me one of the Messengers.
Saheeh: 21: So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Urdu 21: پھر میں تم سے تمہارے ڈر کے مارے بھاگ گیا تب مجھے میرے رب نے دانائی عطا کی اور مجھے رسول بنایا


22  
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Transliteration 22: Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee israeela
Yusuf Ali 22: "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"
Shakir 22: And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel?
Pickthal 22: And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel.
Mohsin Khan: 22: "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me: that you have enslaved the Children of Israel."
Saheeh: 22: And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
Urdu 22: اور یہ احسان جو تو مجھ پر رکھتا ہے اسی لیے تو نے بنی اسرائیل کو غلام بنا رکھا ہے


23  
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Transliteration 23: Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena
Yusuf Ali 23: Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
Shakir 23: Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds?
Pickthal 23: Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds?
Mohsin Khan: 23: Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)?"
Saheeh: 23: Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
Urdu 23: فرعون نے کہا رب العالمین کیا چیز ہے


24  
قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Transliteration 24: Qala rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena
Yusuf Ali 24: (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."
Shakir 24: He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.
Pickthal 24: (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief.
Mohsin Khan: 24: [Musa (Moses)] said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty."
Saheeh: 24: [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
Urdu 24: فرمایا آسمانوں اور زمین اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے سب کا پروردگار ہے اگر تمہیں یقین آئے


25  
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
Transliteration 25: Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona
Yusuf Ali 25: (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"
Shakir 25: (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear?
Pickthal 25: (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not?
Mohsin Khan: 25: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?"
Saheeh: 25: [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
Urdu 25: اپنے گرد والوں سے کہا کیا تم سنتے نہیں ہو


26  
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Transliteration 26: Qala rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena
Yusuf Ali 26: (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
Shakir 26: He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.
Pickthal 26: He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers.
Mohsin Khan: 26: [Musa (Moses)] said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!"
Saheeh: 26: [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
Urdu 26: فرمایا تمہارا ور تمہارے پہلے باپ دادا کا رب ہے


27  
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Transliteration 27: Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun
Yusuf Ali 27: (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"
Shakir 27: Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad.
Pickthal 27: (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman!
Mohsin Khan: 27: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!"
Saheeh: 27: [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
Urdu 27: کہا بے شک تمہارا رسول جو تمہارے پاس بھیجا گیا ہے ضرور دیوانہ ہے


28  
قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Transliteration 28: Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona
Yusuf Ali 28: (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"
Shakir 28: He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand.
Pickthal 28: He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand.
Mohsin Khan: 28: [Musa (Moses)] said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!"
Saheeh: 28: [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
Urdu 28: فرمایا مشر ق مغرب اور جو ان کے درمیان ہے سب کا پروردگار ہے اگر تم عقل رکھتے ہو


29  
قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ
Transliteration 29: Qala laini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena
Yusuf Ali 29: (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"
Shakir 29: Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned.
Pickthal 29: (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners.
Mohsin Khan: 29: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners."
Saheeh: 29: [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
Urdu 29: کہا اگر تو نے میرے سوا اور کوئی معبود بنایا تو تمہیں قید میں ڈال دوں گا


30  
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
Transliteration 30: Qala awalaw jituka bishayin mubeenin
Yusuf Ali 30: (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
Shakir 30: He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest?
Pickthal 30: He said: Even though I show thee something plain?
Mohsin Khan: 30: [Musa (Moses)] said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?"
Saheeh: 30: [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
Urdu 30: فرمایا اگرچہ میں تیرے پاس ایک روشن چیز لے آؤں


31  
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Transliteration 31: Qala fati bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Yusuf Ali 31: (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"
Shakir 31: Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones.
Pickthal 31: (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful!
Mohsin Khan: 31: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!"
Saheeh: 31: [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
Urdu 31: کہا اگر تو سچا ہے تو وہ چیز لا


32  
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
Transliteration 32: Faalqa AAasahu faitha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun
Yusuf Ali 32: So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!
Shakir 32: So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent,
Pickthal 32: Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest,
Mohsin Khan: 32: So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest.
Saheeh: 32: So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
Urdu 32: پھر اس نےاپناعصا ڈال دیا سو اسی وقت وہ صریح اژدھا ہو گیا


33  
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Transliteration 33: WanazaAAa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena
Yusuf Ali 33: And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
Shakir 33: And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers.
Pickthal 33: And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders.
Mohsin Khan: 33: And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
Saheeh: 33: And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
Urdu 33: اوراپنا ہاتھ نکالا سو اسی وقت وہ دیکھنے والوں کو چمکتا ہوا دکھائی دیا


34  
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
Transliteration 34: Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun
Yusuf Ali 34: (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:
Shakir 34: (Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician,
Pickthal 34: (Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard,
Mohsin Khan: 34: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer.
Saheeh: 34: [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
Urdu 34: اپنے گرد کے سرداروں سے کہا کہ بے شک یہ بڑا ماہر جادوگر ہے


35  
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
Transliteration 35: Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona
Yusuf Ali 35: "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"
Shakir 35: Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that you advise?
Pickthal 35: Who would drive you out of your land by his magic. Now what counsel ye?
Mohsin Khan: 35: "He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery: what is it then that you command?"
Saheeh: 35: He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
Urdu 35: چاہتا ہے کہ تمہیں تمہارے دیس سے اپنے جادو کے زور سےنکال دےپھر تم کیا رائے دیتے ہو


36  
قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Transliteration 36: Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almadaini hashireena
Yusuf Ali 36: They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect-
Shakir 36: They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities
Pickthal 36: They said: Put him off, (him) and his brother, and send into the cities summoners
Mohsin Khan: 36: They said: "Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the cities;
Saheeh: 36: They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
Urdu 36: کہا اسےاور اس کے بھائی کو مہلت دو اور شہروں میں چپڑاسیوں کو بھیج دیجیئے


37  
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
Transliteration 37: Yatooka bikulli sahharin AAaleemin
Yusuf Ali 37: "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."
Shakir 37: That they should bring to you every skillful magician.
Pickthal 37: Who shall bring unto thee every knowing wizard.
Mohsin Khan: 37: "To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer."
Saheeh: 37: Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
Urdu 37: کہ تیرے پاس بڑے ماہر جادوگروں کو لے آئیں


38  
فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Transliteration 38: FajumiAAa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloomin
Yusuf Ali 38: So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,
Shakir 38: So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day,
Pickthal 38: So the wizards were gathered together at a set time on a day appointed.
Mohsin Khan: 38: So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed.
Saheeh: 38: So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
Urdu 38: پھر سب جادوگر ایک مقرر دن پر جمع کیے گئے


39  
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
Transliteration 39: Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoona
Yusuf Ali 39: And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-
Shakir 39: And it was said to the people: Will you gather together?
Pickthal 39: And it was said unto the people: Are ye (also) gathering?
Mohsin Khan: 39: And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble?
Saheeh: 39: And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
Urdu 39: اور لوگوں سے کہا گیا کیا تم بھی اکھٹے ہوتے ہو


40  
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Transliteration 40: LaAAallana nattabiAAu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena
Yusuf Ali 40: "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"
Shakir 40: Haply we may follow the magicians, if they are the vanquishers.
Pickthal 40: (They said): Aye, so that we may follow the wizards if they are the winners.
Mohsin Khan: 40: "That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners."
Saheeh: 40: That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
Urdu 40: تاکہ اگر جادوگر غالب آجائیں تو ہم انہی کی راہ پر رہیں


41  
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Transliteration 41: Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena
Yusuf Ali 41: So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?
Shakir 41: And when the magicians came, they said to Firon: Shall we get a reward if we are the vanquishers?
Pickthal 41: And when the wizards came they said unto Pharaoh: Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?
Mohsin Khan: 41: So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?"
Saheeh: 41: And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
Urdu 41: پھر جب جادوگر آئے تو فرعون سے کہا اگر ہم غالب آگئے تو کیا ہمیں کوئی بڑا انعام ملے گا


42  
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Transliteration 42: Qala naAAam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena
Yusuf Ali 42: He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."
Shakir 42: He said: Yes, and surely you will then be of those who are made near.
Pickthal 42: He said: Aye, and ye will then surely be of those brought near (to me).
Mohsin Khan: 42: He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)."
Saheeh: 42: He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
Urdu 42: کہا ہاں اور بیشک تم اس وقت مقربوں میں داخل ہو جاؤ گے


43  
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
Transliteration 43: Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona
Yusuf Ali 43: Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"
Shakir 43: Musa said to them: Cast what you are going to cast.
Pickthal 43: Moses said unto them: Throw what ye are going to throw!
Mohsin Khan: 43: Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!"
Saheeh: 43: Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
Urdu 43: موسیٰ نے ان سے کہا ڈالو جو تم ڈالتے ہو


44  
فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ
Transliteration 44: Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona
Yusuf Ali 44: So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"
Shakir 44: So they cast down their cords and their rods and said: By Firon's power, we shall most surely be victorious.
Pickthal 44: Then they threw down their cords and their staves and said: By Pharaoh's might, lo! we verily are the winners.
Mohsin Khan: 44: So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!"
Saheeh: 44: So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
Urdu 44: پھر انہوں نے اپنی رسیاں اور لاٹھیاں ڈال دیں اور کہا فرعون کے اقبال سے ہماری فتح ہے


45  
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
Transliteration 45: Faalqa moosa AAasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona
Yusuf Ali 45: Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!
Shakir 45: Then Musa cast down his staff and lo! it swallowed up the lies they told.
Pickthal 45: Then Moses threw his staff and lo! it swallowed that which they did falsely show.
Mohsin Khan: 45: Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all that they falsely showed!
Saheeh: 45: Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
Urdu 45: پھر موسیٰ نے اپنا عصا ڈالا پھر وہ فوراً ہی نگلنے لگا جو انہوں نے جھوٹ بنایا تھا


46  
فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ
Transliteration 46: Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena
Yusuf Ali 46: Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,
Shakir 46: And the magicians were thrown down prostrate;
Pickthal 46: And the wizards were flung prostrate,
Mohsin Khan: 46: And the sorcerers fell down prostrate.
Saheeh: 46: So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].
Urdu 46: پھر جادوگر سجدے میں گر پڑے


47  
قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Transliteration 47: Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena
Yusuf Ali 47: Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,
Shakir 47: They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds:
Pickthal 47: Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,
Mohsin Khan: 47: Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
Saheeh: 47: They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
Urdu 47: کہا ہم رب العالمین پر ایمان لائے


48  
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ
Transliteration 48: Rabbi moosa waharoona
Yusuf Ali 48: "The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
Shakir 48: The Lord of Musa and Haroun.
Pickthal 48: The Lord of Moses and Aaron.
Mohsin Khan: 48: "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)."
Saheeh: 48: The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
Urdu 48: جو موسیٰ اور ہارون کا رب ہے


49  
قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 49: Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 49: Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"
Shakir 49: Said he: You believe in him before I give you permission; most surely he is the chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall know: certainly I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and certainly I will crucify you all.
Pickthal 49: (Pharaoh) said: Ye put your faith in him before I give you leave. Lo! he doubtless is your chief who taught you magic! But verily ye shall come to know. Verily I will cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and verily I will crucify you every one.
Mohsin Khan: 49: [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all."
Saheeh: 49: [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
Urdu 49: کہا کیا تم میری اجازت سے پہلے ہی ایمان لے آئے بے شک وہ تمہارا استاد ہے جس نے تمہیں جادو سکھایا ہے سو تمہیں ابھی معلوم ہو جائے گا البتہ میں تمہارا ایک طرف کا ہاتھ اور دوسری طرف کا پاؤں کاٹ دوں گا اور تم سب کو سولی پر چڑھا دوں گا


50  
قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration 50: Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona
Yusuf Ali 50: They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!
Shakir 50: They said: No harm; surely to our Lord we go back;
Pickthal 50: They said: It is no hurt, for lo! unto our Lord we shall return.
Mohsin Khan: 50: They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return.
Saheeh: 50: They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
Urdu 50: کہا کچھ حرج نہیں بے شک ہم اپنے رب کے پاس پہنچنے والا ہوں گے


51  
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Transliteration 51: Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena
Yusuf Ali 51: "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"
Shakir 51: Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first of the believers.
Pickthal 51: Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers.
Mohsin Khan: 51: "Verily we really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers [in Musa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has brought from Allah]."
Saheeh: 51: Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
Urdu 51: ہمیں امید ہے کہ ہمارا رب ہمارے گناہوں کو معاف کر دے گا اس لیے کہ ہم سب سے پہلے ایمان لانے والے ہیں


52  
 ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Transliteration 52: Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona
Yusuf Ali 52: By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."
Shakir 52: And We revealed to Musa, saying: Go away with My servants travelling by night, surely you will be pursued.
Pickthal 52: And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be pursued.
Mohsin Khan: 52: And We revealed to Musa (Moses), saying: "Depart by night with My slaves, verily you will be pursued."
Saheeh: 52: And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
Urdu 52: اور ہم نے موسی ٰکو حکم بھیجا کہ میرے بندوں کو رات کو لے نکل البتہ تمہارا پیچھا کیا جائے گا


53  
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Transliteration 53: Faarsala firAAawnu fee almadaini hashireena
Yusuf Ali 53: Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,
Shakir 53: So Firon sent heralds into the cities;
Pickthal 53: Then Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners,
Mohsin Khan: 53: Then Fir'aun (Pharaoh) sent callers to (all) the cities.
Saheeh: 53: Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
Urdu 53: پھر فرعون نے شہروں میں چپڑاسی بھیجے


54  
إِنَّ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
Transliteration 54: Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona
Yusuf Ali 54: (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,
Shakir 54: Most surely these are a small company;
Pickthal 54: (Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop,
Mohsin Khan: 54: (Saying): "Verily these indeed are but a small band.
Saheeh: 54: [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
Urdu 54: کہ یہ ایک تھوڑی سی جماعت ہے


55  
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ
Transliteration 55: Wainnahum lana laghaithoona
Yusuf Ali 55: "And they are raging furiously against us;
Shakir 55: And most surely they have enraged us;
Pickthal 55: And lo! they are offenders against us.
Mohsin Khan: 55: "And verily, they have done what has enraged us.
Saheeh: 55: And indeed, they are enraging us,
Urdu 55: اور انہوں نے ہمیں بہت غصہ دلایا ہے


56  
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ
Transliteration 56: Wainna lajameeAAun hathiroona
Yusuf Ali 56: "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."
Shakir 56: And most surely we are a vigilant multitude.
Pickthal 56: And lo! we are a ready host.
Mohsin Khan: 56: "But we are a host all assembled, amply fore-warned."
Saheeh: 56: And indeed, we are a cautious society... "
Urdu 56: اور بے شک ہم سب ہتھیار بند ہیں


57  
فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Transliteration 57: Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin
Yusuf Ali 57: So We expelled them from gardens, springs,
Shakir 57: So We turned them out of gardens and springs,
Pickthal 57: Thus did We take them away from gardens and watersprings,
Mohsin Khan: 57: So, We expelled them from gardens and springs,
Saheeh: 57: So We removed them from gardens and springs
Urdu 57: پھر ہم نے انہیں باغوں اور چشموں سے نکال باہر کیا


58  
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
Transliteration 58: Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin
Yusuf Ali 58: Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;
Shakir 58: And treasures and goodly dwellings,
Pickthal 58: And treasures and a fair estate.
Mohsin Khan: 58: Treasures, and every kind of honourable place.
Saheeh: 58: And treasures and honorable station -
Urdu 58: اور خزانوں اور عمدہ مکانو ں سے


59  
كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Transliteration 59: Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela
Yusuf Ali 59: Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.
Shakir 59: Even so. And We gave them as a heritage to the children of Israel.
Pickthal 59: Thus (were those things taken from them) and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them.
Mohsin Khan: 59: Thus [We turned them (Pharaoh's people) out] and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them.
Saheeh: 59: Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
Urdu 59: اسی طرح ہوا اور ہم نے ان چیزوں کا بنی اسرائیل کو وارث بنایا


60  
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
Transliteration 60: FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena
Yusuf Ali 60: So they pursued them at sunrise.
Shakir 60: Then they pursued them at sunrise.
Pickthal 60: And they overtook them at sunrise.
Mohsin Khan: 60: So they pursued them at sunrise.
Saheeh: 60: So they pursued them at sunrise.
Urdu 60: پھر سورج نکلنے کے وقت ان کے پیچھے پڑے


61  
فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
Transliteration 61: Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona
Yusuf Ali 61: And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."
Shakir 61: So when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa cried out: Most surely we are being overtaken.
Pickthal 61: And when the two hosts saw each other, those with Moses said: Lo! we are indeed caught.
Mohsin Khan: 61: And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We are sure to be overtaken."
Saheeh: 61: And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
Urdu 61: پھر جب دونوں جماعتوں نےایک دوسرے کو دیکھا تو موسیٰ کے ساتھیوں نے کہا ہم تو پکڑے گئے


62  
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
Transliteration 62: Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni
Yusuf Ali 62: (Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"
Shakir 62: He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.
Pickthal 62: He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me.
Mohsin Khan: 62: [Musa (Moses)] said: "Nay, verily with me is my Lord. He will guide me."
Saheeh: 62: [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
Urdu 62: کہا ہرگز نہیں میرا رب میرے ساتھ ہے وہ مجھے راہ بتائے گا


63  
فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ
Transliteration 63: Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi
Yusuf Ali 63: Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.
Shakir 63: Then We revealed to Musa: Strike the sea with your staff. So it had cloven asunder, and each part was like a huge mound.
Pickthal 63: Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast.
Mohsin Khan: 63: Then We revealed to Musa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like huge mountain.
Saheeh: 63: Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
Urdu 63: پھر ہم نےموسیٰ کو حکم بھیجا کہ اپنی لاٹھی کو دریا پر مار پھر پھٹ گیا پھر ہر ٹکڑا بڑے ٹیلے کی طرح ہو گیا


64  
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ
Transliteration 64: Waazlafna thamma alakhareena
Yusuf Ali 64: And We made the other party approach thither.
Shakir 64: And We brought near, there, the others.
Pickthal 64: Then brought We near the others to that place.
Mohsin Khan: 64: Then We brought near the others [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) party] to that place.
Saheeh: 64: And We advanced thereto the pursuers.
Urdu 64: اور ہم نے اس جگہ دوسروں کو پہنچا دیا


65  
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 65: Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 65: We delivered Moses and all who were with him;
Shakir 65: And We saved Musa and those with him, all of them.
Pickthal 65: And We saved Moses and those with him, every one;
Mohsin Khan: 65: And We saved Musa (Moses) and all those with him.
Saheeh: 65: And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
Urdu 65: اورہم نے موسیٰ کی اور جو اس کے ساتھ تھے سب کو نجات دی


66  
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
Transliteration 66: Thumma aghraqna alakhareena
Yusuf Ali 66: But We drowned the others.
Shakir 66: Then We drowned the others.
Pickthal 66: And We drowned the others.
Mohsin Khan: 66: Then We drowned the others.
Saheeh: 66: Then We drowned the others.
Urdu 66: پھر ہم نے دوسروں کو غرق کر دیا
