53. An-Najm | 62 verses | The Star | Meccan

6  
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ
Transliteration 6: Thoo mirratin faistawa
Yusuf Ali 6: Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);
Shakir 6: The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion,
Pickthal 6: One vigorous; and he grew clear to view
Mohsin Khan: 6: One free from any defect in body and mind then he (Jibril - Gabriel in his real shape as created by Allah) rose and became stable.
Saheeh: 6: One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form
Urdu 6: جو بڑا زور آور ہے پس وہ قائم ہوا (اصلی صورت میں)


7  
وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ
Transliteration 7: Wahuwa bialofuqi alaAAla
Yusuf Ali 7: While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
Shakir 7: And he is in the highest part of the horizon.
Pickthal 7: When he was on the uppermost horizon.
Mohsin Khan: 7: While he [Jibril (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
Saheeh: 7: While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.
Urdu 7: اور وہ (آسمان کے) اونچے کنارے پر تھا


8  
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
Transliteration 8: Thumma dana fatadalla
Yusuf Ali 8: Then he approached and came closer,
Shakir 8: Then he drew near, then he bowed
Pickthal 8: Then he drew nigh and came down
Mohsin Khan: 8: Then he [Jibril (Gabriel)] approached and came closer,
Saheeh: 8: Then he approached and descended
Urdu 8: پھر نزدیک ہوا پھر اور بھی قریب ہوا


9  
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
Transliteration 9: Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
Yusuf Ali 9: And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;
Shakir 9: So he was the measure of two bows or closer still.
Pickthal 9: Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer,
Mohsin Khan: 9: And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer.
Saheeh: 9: And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.
Urdu 9: پھر فاصلہ دو کمان کے برابر تھا یا اس سے بھی کم


10  
فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ
Transliteration 10: Faawha ila AAabdihi ma awha
Yusuf Ali 10: So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
Shakir 10: And He revealed to His servant what He revealed.
Pickthal 10: And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed.
Mohsin Khan: 10: So (Allah) revealed to His slave [Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم through Jibril (Gabriel) عليه السلام] whatever He revealed.
Saheeh: 10: And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.
Urdu 10: پھر اس نے الله کےبندے کے دل میں القا کیا جو کچھ القا کیا دل نے


11  
مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ
Transliteration 11: Ma kathaba alfuadu ma raa
Yusuf Ali 11: The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
Shakir 11: The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw.
Pickthal 11: The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw.
Mohsin Khan: 11: The (Prophet's) heart lied not in what he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw.
Saheeh: 11: The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.
Urdu 11: جھوٹ نہیں کہا تھا جو دیکھا تھا


12  
أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
Transliteration 12: Afatumaroonahu AAala ma yara
Yusuf Ali 12: Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
Shakir 12: What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw?
Pickthal 12: Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth?
Mohsin Khan: 12: Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to the seven heavens)]
Saheeh: 12: So will you dispute with him over what he saw?
Urdu 12: پھر جو کچھ اس نے دیکھا تم اس میں جھگڑتے ہو


13  
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
Transliteration 13: Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra
Yusuf Ali 13: For indeed he saw him at a second descent,
Shakir 13: And certainly he saw him in another descent,
Pickthal 13: And verily he saw him yet another time
Mohsin Khan: 13: And indeed he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw him [Jibril (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time).
Saheeh: 13: And he certainly saw him in another descent
Urdu 13: اور اس نے اس کو ایک بار اور بھی دیکھا ہے


14  
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنتَهَىٰ
Transliteration 14: AAinda sidrati almuntaha
Yusuf Ali 14: Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
Shakir 14: At the farthest lote-tree;
Pickthal 14: By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary,
Mohsin Khan: 14: Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (a lote-tree of the utmost boundary over the seventh heaven beyond which none can pass).
Saheeh: 14: At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -
Urdu 14: سدرة المنتہیٰ کے پاس


15  
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ
Transliteration 15: AAindaha jannatu almawa
Yusuf Ali 15: Near it is the Garden of Abode.
Shakir 15: Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to.
Pickthal 15: Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode.
Mohsin Khan: 15: Near it is the Paradise of Abode.
Saheeh: 15: Near it is the Garden of Refuge -
Urdu 15: جس کے پاس جنت الماویٰ ہے


16  
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
Transliteration 16: Ith yaghsha alssidrata ma yaghsha
Yusuf Ali 16: Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
Shakir 16: When that which covers covered the lote-tree;
Pickthal 16: When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree,
Mohsin Khan: 16: When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it!
Saheeh: 16: When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].
Urdu 16: جب کہ اس سدرة پر چھا رہا تھا جو چھا رہا تھا (یعنی نور)


17  
مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
Transliteration 17: Ma zagha albasaru wama tagha
Yusuf Ali 17: (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!
Shakir 17: The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit.
Pickthal 17: The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold.
Mohsin Khan: 17: The sight (of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond the limit (ordained for it).
Saheeh: 17: The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].
Urdu 17: نہ تو نظر بہکی نہ حد سے بڑھی


18  
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ
Transliteration 18: Laqad raa min ayati rabbihi alkubra
Yusuf Ali 18: For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!
Shakir 18: Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
Pickthal 18: Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord.
Mohsin Khan: 18: Indeed he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) did see of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah).
Saheeh: 18: He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
Urdu 18: بے شک اس نے اپنے رب کی بڑی بڑی نشانیاں دیکھیں
