18. | كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Transliteration: | Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri |
Yusuf Ali: | The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? |
Shakir: | Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! |
Pickthall: | (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. |
Mohsin Khan: | 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud); then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? |
Saheeh: | 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. |
Urdu: | قوم عاد نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا |

19. | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ |
Transliteration: | Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin |
Yusuf Ali: | For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, |
Shakir: | Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck |
Pickthall: | Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, |
Mohsin Khan: | Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. |
Saheeh: | Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, |
Urdu: | بے شک ہم نے ایک دن سخت آندھی بھیجی تھی جس کی نحوست دائمی تھی |

20. | تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ |
Transliteration: | TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin |
Yusuf Ali: | Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). |
Shakir: | Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. |
Pickthall: | Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. |
Mohsin Khan: | Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. |
Saheeh: | Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. |
Urdu: | جو لوگوں کو ایسا پھینک رہی تھی کہ گویا وہ کھجور کے جڑ سے اکھڑے ہوئے پیڑ ہیں |

21. | فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Transliteration: | Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri |
Yusuf Ali: | Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! |
Shakir: | How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! |
Pickthall: | Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! |
Mohsin Khan: | Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? |
Saheeh: | And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. |
