42. | وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ |
Transliteration: | Wala talbisoo alhaqqa bialbatili wataktumoo alhaqqa waantum taAAlamoona |
Yusuf Ali: | And cover not Truth with falsehood, nor conceal the Truth when ye know (what it is). |
Shakir: | And do not mix up the truth with the falsehood, nor hide the truth while you know (it). |
Pickthall: | Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth. |
Mohsin Khan: | And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth [i.e. Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is Allah's Messenger and his qualities are written in your Scriptures, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] while you know (the truth). |
Saheeh: | And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it]. |
Urdu: | اور سچ میں جھوٹ نہ ملاؤ اور جان بوجھ کر حق کو نہ چھپاؤ |

43. | وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ |
Transliteration: | Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata wairkaAAoo maAAa alrrakiAAeena |
Yusuf Ali: | And be steadfast in prayer; practise regular charity; and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship). |
Shakir: | And keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and bow down with those who bow down. |
Pickthall: | Establish worship, pay the poor-due, and bow your heads with those who bow (in worship). |
Mohsin Khan: | And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and bow down (or submit yourselves with obedience to Allah) along with Ar-Raki'un . |
Saheeh: | And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]. |
Urdu: | اورنماز قائم کرو اوزکوةٰ دو اور رکوع کرنے والوں کے ساتھ رکوع کرو |

44. | ۞ أَتَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَتَنسَوْنَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ |
Transliteration: | Atamuroona alnnasa bialbirri watansawna anfusakum waantum tatloona alkitaba afala taAAqiloona |
Yusuf Ali: | Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand? |
Shakir: | What! do you enjoin men to be good and neglect your own souls while you read the Book; have you then no sense? |
Pickthall: | Enjoin ye righteousness upon mankind while ye yourselves forget (to practise it)? And ye are readers of the Scripture! Have ye then no sense? |
Mohsin Khan: | Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allah) on the people and you forget (to practise it) yourselves, while you recite the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]! Have you then no sense? |
Saheeh: | Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason? |
Urdu: | کیا لوگوں کو تم نیکی کا حکم کرتے ہو اور اپنے آپ کو بھول جاتے ہو حالانکہ تم کتاب پڑھتے ہو پھر کیوں نہیں سمجھتے |

45. | وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ |
Transliteration: | WaistaAAeenoo bialssabri waalssalati wainnaha lakabeeratun illa AAala alkhashiAAeena |
Yusuf Ali: | Nay, seek (Allah's) help with patient perseverance and prayer: It is indeed hard, except to those who bring a lowly spirit,- |
Shakir: | And seek assistance through patience and prayer, and most surely it is a hard thing except for the humble ones, |
Pickthall: | Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded, |
Mohsin Khan: | And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'un [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell)]. |
Saheeh: | And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah] |
Urdu: | اور صبر کرنے اور نماز پڑھنے سےمدد لیا کرو اوربے شک نماز مشکل ہے مگر ان پر جو عاجزی کرنے والے ہیں |
