(32) And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance, and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded.

(33) But there came after them an evil generation, who neglected prayers and followed and sensual desires, so they win meet perdition,

(34) Therefore let not him who believes not in it and follows his low desires turn you away from it so that you should perish;

(35) And the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves who desires that he may have superiority over you, and if Allah had pleased, He could certainly have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our fathers of yore:

(36) And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside.

(37) Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Will you then be a protector over him?

(38) And He it is Who made the night and the day to follow each other for him who desires to be mindful or desires to be thankful.

(39) Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that you advise?

(40) You and your ancient sires.
