(1) Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your god and the god of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one god. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

(2) And your god is one god. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

(3) O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one god. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

(4) They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one god. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

(5) Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allah is witness between me and you. And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one god, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

(6) And the eminent among the people of Pharaoh said," Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" [Pharaoh] said, "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive; and indeed, we are subjugators over them."

(7) And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a people intent in devotion to [some] idols of theirs. They said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a people behaving ignorantly.

(8) He said, "Is it other than Allah I should desire for you as a god while He has preferred you over the worlds?"

(9) They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one god; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.

(10) They said, "O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so. Nor are we believers in you.
