(1) If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease and those who spread rumors in al-madinah do not cease, We will surely incite you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors therein except for a little.

(2) And [also for] those who were settled in al-madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

(3) They say, "If we return to al-madinah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
