(11) Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him,- soon will He admit them to mercy and grace from himself, and guide them to himself by a straight way.
(12) The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.
(13) We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers.
(14) Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe.
(15) When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you: Your Lord hath inscribed for himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
(16) His people disputed with him. He said: "(Come) ye to dispute with me, about Allah, when He (himself) hath guided me? I fear not (the beings) ye associate with Allah: Unless my Lord willeth, (nothing can happen). My Lord comprehendeth in His knowledge all things. Will ye not (yourselves) be admonished?
(17) Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."
(18) Remember He covered you with a sort of drowsiness, to give you calm as from himself, and he caused rain to descend on you from heaven, to clean you therewith, to remove from you the stain of Satan, to strengthen your hearts, and to plant your feet firmly therewith.
(19) If any do turn his back to them on such a day - unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own)- he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed)!
(20) It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah's: in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from himself: for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
