(1) Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the qur'an down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers."

(2) The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.

(3) Before, as guidance for the people. And He revealed the qur'an. Indeed, those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah will have a severe punishment, and Allah is exalted in Might, the Owner of Retribution.

(4) This [qur'an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah.

(5) Then do they not reflect upon the qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.

(6) O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this qur'an] - hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of ihram. Indeed, Allah ordains what He intends.

(7) O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the qur'an is being revealed, they will be shown to you. Allah has pardoned that which is past; and Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.

(8) Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allah is witness between me and you. And this qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

(9) And warn by the qur'an those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord - for them besides Him will be no protector and no intercessor - that they might become righteous.

(10) And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with the qur'an, lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allah no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.
