So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the Clear Message?

(53) But if they turn away, thy duty is only to preach the clear Message.

(54) Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.

(55) Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard's) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute.

(56) Nor walk on the earth with insolence: for thou canst not rend the earth asunder, nor reach the mountains in height.

(57) Behold, Moses said to his attendant, "I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel."

(58) But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel.

(59) Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."

(60) Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word.
