(32) Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

(33) "What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?"

(34) On those who believe and do deeds of righteousness there is no blame for what they ate (in the past), when they guard themselves from evil, and believe, and do deeds of righteousness,- (or) again, guard themselves from evil and believe,- (or) again, guard themselves from evil and do good. For Allah loveth those who do good.

(35) What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?

(36) On their account no responsibility falls on the righteous, but (their duty) is to remind them, that they may (learn to) fear Allah.

(37) And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias: all in the ranks of the righteous:

(38) For them will be a home of peace in the presence of their Lord: He will be their friend, because they practised (righteousness).

(39) Verily, this is My way, leading straight: follow it: follow not (other) paths: they will scatter you about from His (great) path: thus doth He command you. that ye may be righteous.

(40) And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy:
