(51) Wherein they will abide for ever. They will find (then) no protecting friend nor helper.

(52) Surely pure religion is for Allah only. And those who choose protecting friends beside Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near unto Allah. Lo! Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Lo! Allah guideth not him who is a liar, an ingrate.

(53) Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those who disbelieved before them? They were mightier than these in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. Yet Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah.

(54) And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting.

(55) We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There ye will have (all) that your souls desire, and there ye will have (all) for which ye pray.

(56) And as for those who choose protecting friends beside Him, Allah is Warden over them, and thou art in no wise a guardian over them.

(57) Or have they chosen protecting friends besides Him? But Allah, He (alone) is the protecting Friend. He quickeneth the dead, and He is Able to do all things.

(58) And He it is Who sendeth down the saving rain after they have despaired, and spreadeth out His mercy. He is the protecting Friend, the Praiseworthy.

(59) Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper.

(60) He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no protecting friend after Him. And thou (Muhammad) wilt see the evil-doers when they see the doom, (how) they say: Is there any way of return?
