(221) (They took to flight because of their) arrogance in the land and their plotting of evil. But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it. Then, can they expect anything (else) but the Sunnah (way of dealing) of the peoples of old? So no change will you find in allah's Sunnah (way of dealing), and no turning off will you find in allah's Sunnah (way of dealing).

(222) On the Straight Path (i.e. on allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism).

(223) And when it is said to them: "Fear of that which is before you (worldly torments), and that which is behind you (torments in the Hereafter), in order that you may receive Mercy (i.e. if you believe in allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism, and avoid polytheism, and obey Allah with righteous deeds)."

(224) Nay! he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has come with the truth (i.e. allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Qur'an) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism).

(225) And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world)

(226) Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for allah's sake only - See V.2:112).

(227) And verily, we (angels), indeed are those who glorify (allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers).

(228) (As they denied allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the Confederates of the old times (who were defeated).

(229) And (so did) the birds assembled: all obedient to him [Dawud (David)] [i.e. they came and glorified allah's Praises along with him]. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi ).

(230) When there were displayed before him, in the afternoon, well trained horses of the highest breed [for Jihad (holy fighting in allah's Cause)].
