(141) And ask (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint alihah (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Gracious (Allah)?"

(142) And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: "Allah." How then are they turned away (from the worship of Allah, Who created them)?

(143) Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened - a wind wherein is a painful torment!

(144) So know (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that, La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) , and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allah knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes).

(145) So be not weak and ask not for peace (from the enemies of Islam) while you are having the upper hand. Allah is with you, and He will never decrease the reward of your good deeds.

(146) The life of this world is but play and pastime; but if you believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and fear Allah, and avoid evil, He will grant you your wages, and will not ask you your wealth.

(147) If He were to ask you of it, and press you, you would covetously withhold, and He will bring out all your (secret) ill-wills.

(148) Those of the bedouins who lagged behind will say to you: "Our possessions and our families occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then has any power at all (to intervene) on your behalf with Allah, if He intends you hurt or intends you benefit? Nay, but Allah is Ever All-Aware of what you do.

(149) They ask: "When will be the Day of Recompense?"

(150) "Taste you your trial (punishment i.e. burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!"
