(1) And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.

(2) Even so, in the eyes of most of the pagans, their "partners" made alluring the slaughter of their children, in order to lead them to their own destruction, and cause confusion in their religion. If Allah had willed, they would not have done so: But leave alone them and their inventions.

(3) If ye did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second of the warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.

(4) "Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

(5) Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!"

(6) Such were the populations we destroyed when they committed iniquities; but we fixed an appointed time for their destruction.

(7) But after them there followed a posterity who missed prayers and followed after lusts soon, then, will they face destruction,-

(8) And when they are cast, bound together into a constricted place therein, they will plead for destruction there and then!

(9) "This day plead not for a single destruction: plead for destruction oft-repeated!"

(10) And We command: "Go ye both, to the people who have rejected our Signs:" And those (people) We destroyed with utter destruction.
