(1) Thus have We placed leaders in every town, its wicked men, to plot (and burrow) therein: but they only plot against their own souls, and they perceive it not.

(6) The leaders, the unbelievers among his people, said: "If ye follow Shu'aib, be sure then ye are ruined!"

(7) And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).

(8) And We wished to be Gracious to those who were being depressed in the land, to make them leaders (in Faith) and make them heirs,

(9) And we made them (but) leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Judgment no help shall they find.

(10) And We appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under Our command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs.
