(23) So when they had reached the junction of the two (rivers) they forgot their fish, and it took its way into the sea, going away.

(24) Until when he reached the place where the sun set, he found it going down into a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Zulqarnain! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit.

(25) Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It;

(26) Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word.

(27) He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age?

(28) There does not reach Allah their flesh nor their blood, but to Him is acceptable the guarding (against evil) on your part; thus has He made them subservient to you, that you may magnify Allah because He has guided you aright; and give good news to those who do good (to others).

(29) He said: We will strengthen your arm with your brother, and We will give you both an authority, so that they shall not reach you; (go) with Our signs; you two and those who follow you shall be uppermost.

(30) And certainly We have made the word to reach them so that they may be mindful.
