(181) "As for the ship, it belonged to Masakin (poor people) working in the sea. So I wished to make a defective damage in it, as there was a king behind them who seized every ship by force.

(182) "And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man, and your Lord intended that they should attain their age of full strength and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord. And I did them not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of those (things) over which you could not hold patience."

(183) So (it was)! And We knew all about him (Dhul-Qarnain).

(184) "Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds.

(185) (It was said to his son): "O Yahya (John)! Hold fast the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]." And We gave him wisdom while yet a child.

(186) And (made him) sympathetic to men as a mercy (or a grant) from Us, and pure from sins [i.e. Yahya (John)] and he was righteous,

(187) And dutiful towards his parents, and he was neither arrogant nor disobedient (to Allah or to his parents).

(188) And Salam (peace) be on him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he will be raised up to life (again)!

(189) "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) ! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman."

(190) "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"
