(1) Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allah, until when the hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it," while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

(2) Say, "Have you considered: if there came to you the punishment of Allah or there came to you the hour - is it other than Allah you would invoke, if you should be truthful?"

(3) And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].

(4) They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the hour: when is its arrival? Say, "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except unexpectedly." They ask you as if you are familiar with it. Say, "Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most of the people do not know."

(5) Allah has already forgiven the Prophet and the Muhajireen and the Ansar who followed him in the hour of difficulty after the hearts of a party of them had almost inclined [to doubt], and then He forgave them. Indeed, He was to them Kind and Merciful.

(6) And on the Day when He will gather them, [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] but an hour of the day, [and] they will know each other. Those will have lost who denied the meeting with Allah and were not guided

(7) Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit except what Allah should will. For every nation is a [specified] term. When their time has come, then they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."

(8) Then do they feel secure that there will not come to them an overwhelming [aspect] of the punishment of Allah or that the hour will not come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive?

(9) And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

(10) And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon the earth any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
