(2) Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep?

(3) Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play?

(4) Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people.

(5) Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and feel secure therein and those who are heedless of Our signs

(6) Then do they feel secure that there will not come to them an overwhelming [aspect] of the punishment of Allah or that the Hour will not come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive?

(7) And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

(8) Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?

(9) Then do you feel secure that [instead] He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you or send against you a storm of stones? Then you would not find for yourselves an advocate.

(10) Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into the sea another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied? Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger.
