(41) "O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-salat (Iqamat-as-salat ), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.

(42) Perform As-salat (Iqamat-as-salat) from mid-day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers), and recite the Qur'an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night) .

(43) And in some parts of the night (also) offer the salat (prayer) with it (i.e. recite the Qur'an in the prayer), as an additional prayer (Tahajjud optional prayer - Nawafil) for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم). It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqam Mahmud (a station of praise and glory, i.e. the honour of intercession on the Day of Resurrection.) .

(44) Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "Invoke Allah or invoke the Most Gracious (Allah), by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best Names. And offer your salat (prayer) neither aloud nor in a low voice, but follow a way between.

(45) "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live."

(46) And he used to enjoin on his family and his people As-salat (the prayers) and the Zakat and his Lord was pleased with him.

(47) Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-salat (the prayers) [i.e. made their salat (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell.

(48) "Verily! I am Allah! La ilaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I), so worship Me, and perform As-salat (Iqamat-as-salat) for My Remembrance.

(49) And enjoin As-salat (the prayer) on your family, and be patient in offering them [i.e. the salat (prayers)]. We ask not of you a provision (i.e. to give Us something: money): We provide for you. And the good end (i.e. Paradise) is for the Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2).

(50) And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, performing salat (Iqamat-as-salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were the worshippers.
