(2) So Moses threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest.

(3) They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]."

(4) And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying.

(5) And We divided them into twelve descendant tribes [as distinct] nations. And We inspired to Moses when his people implored him for water, "Strike with your staff the stone," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place. And We shaded them with clouds and sent down upon them manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not, but they were [only] wronging themselves.

(6) He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."

(7) He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].

(8) So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

(9) So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."

(10) Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
