(1) When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -

(2) He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

(3) (He turned in mercy also) to the three who were left behind; (they felt guilty) to such a degree that the earth seemed constrained to them, for all its spaciousness, and their (very) souls seemed straitened to them,- and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah (and no refuge) but to Himself. Then He turned to them, that they might repent: for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

(4) Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.

(5) O My servants who believe! truly, spacious is My Earth: therefore serve ye Me - (and Me alone)!

(6) Say: "O ye my servants who believe! Fear your Lord, good is (the reward) for those who do good in this world. spacious is Allah's earth! those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure!"

(7) And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: How excellently We do spread out!

(8) "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'"

(9) When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
