(101) (Some) will say: They were three, their dog the fourth, and (some) say: Five, their dog the sixth, guessing at random; and (some) say: Seven, and their dog the eighth. Say (O Muhammad): My Lord is Best Aware of their number. None knoweth them save a few. So contend not concerning them except with an outward contending, and ask not any of them to pronounce concerning them.

(102) And the guilty behold the Fire and know that they are about to fall therein, and they find no way of escape thence.

(103) So they twain set out till, when they were in the ship, he made a hole therein. (Moses) said: Hast thou made a hole therein to drown the folk thereof? Thou verily hast done a dreadful thing.

(104) Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.

(105) And compassion from Our presence, and purity; and he was devout,

(106) Such is the Garden which We cause the devout among Our bondmen to inherit.

(107) Then We shall pluck out from every sect whichever of them was most stubborn in rebellion to the Beneficent.

(108) How many a generation have We destroyed before them, who were more imposing in respect of gear and outward seeming!

(109) And We shall inherit from him that whereof he spake, and he will come unto Us, alone (without his wealth and children).

(110) And thrust thy hand within thine armpit, it will come forth white without hurt. (That will be) another token.
