(1) And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place.

(2) Nor [is there blame] upon those who, when they came to you that you might give them mounts, you said, "I can find nothing for you to ride upon." They turned back while their eyes overflowed with tears out of grief that they could not find something to spend [for the cause of Allah].

(3) And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.

(4) And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

(5) And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

(6) But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension.

(7) Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.

(8) It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat.

(9) In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful -

(10) And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
