(2) [Allah] said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."

(3) Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allah that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allah has guided us? [We would then be] like one whom the devils enticed [to wander] upon the earth confused, [while] he has companions inviting him to guidance, [calling], 'Come to us.' " Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.

(4) And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

(5) Whoever Allah sends astray - there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

(6) And if Allah was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke] as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them. But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindly

(7) By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

(8) And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.

(9) Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly.
